I have watched about 10 videos thus far on this topic. This was the best one. I like that you put the crate so the kittens stay in a safe area and to help keep the room/house from being destroyed until they are old enough to move around in the room. I am setting up the birthing box area in our spare room which is suppose to be my nursery for my baby I’m expecting in 7 months. I didn’t want the room to be destroyed with peeing and pooping and wasn’t sure how I was going to be able to protect my house while providing what the kittens and momma cat need. Thank you for this great informational video. You explained everything clearly and I appreciate your time and help on this matter. Blessings friend!
It was my first video and still so popular. I am so glad it was helpful. If you are new to breeding check out my New Cat Breeders Club. You can find it on my website at www.catbreedingforbeginners.com
hi pamela! me and my family are really enthusiastic about breeding cats (not really a cattery or anything just so we can have kittens and send them to a good home). your videos are really great as not many people with experience actually put the time in to help as you do. thankyou so much for starting this channel and i know i for one will definitely use your videos to hopefully make happy cats and even happier homes. really keen for your upcoming vids please keep doing what your doing it really helps
That is wonderful! But have a think about why you want to breed. Its a great hobby and I just love it because its so rewarding. Its not all fun and cute kittens though. I am hoping to capture this in a future video but there is a lot of of heartbreak and expense, it can be very emotionally draining and other people can be ..... difficult LOL. So make sure you take it all on board before you take the next step. To me you have to have a purpose, a goal. Mine is to breed the very best British Shorthair I can with a fabulous temperament and excellent health :)
It depends. If it is summer and warm no. But if it is cool yes. However not in such a way that mum gets too hot or the kittens can’t get off it if they get too hot. I like snugglesafes as they can wriggle on to them, next to them or away from them. And mum can lay on it or off it in the boxes I use.
Great video thanks Pamela 😊 What age do the kittens stay in here til? And can you show where they go next? We have our kittens in our spare bedroom but not ideal as they tend to trash the space and not use the toilet enough. Maybe a bigger enclosed crate? Look forward to your feedback 😀
When I have a litter this season I will document all the stages but they stay in the box then come out into the cage when they are ready to toddle. From there they learn to use the tray and start eating and drinking. Once they are good at peeing and pooping where they should they come into the room then a few weeks after that go into my big cat room. I dont do loose in the house as over time that would wreck it! lol.
Hi Pamela, I loved the video you really explained everything in detail making it super easy for us to understand 😆. I just have one question, could you perhaps do a video on a tour of your Cattery? I think it would really be a great help and give us some ideas on what a more experienced breeder and judge would suggest for Cattery setup? Let me know your thoughts 😁🌸

Pamela, I have a setup kind of like yours. the cage has a spot for a litter box. is it a problem if the kittens get into the litter box bc the female needs one
Fantastic, If you have a litter tray with sides about the same height as mine they wont get into it until about the time they are ready to use it, depending on the breed. Little teeny babies no we dont want them in the tray but babies that are toddling and starting to eat yes. I have lots of content and you can ask me questions directly in my New Cat Breeders Club. Hi Pamela, how many days before the birth do you put the cat in the crate? And how long do they stay in there. This is my first time and it is all a bit scary. After they are born does the cat stay in the crate all the time or can she get out and go back? Thanks for helping! Best, Pamela (also Pamela ;))
Hey Pamela lol 😆. About five days before in the room and three days before closed in. Mum comes and goes after about two weeks. If you want to join my new cat breeders club so you have some help on hand if you need it message my page on Facebook 😀
Also what are the dimensions of the birthing box some of the links you have posted have expired. Your setup too btw is the best I’ve seen especially for someone with more then 1 girl as they look like I could build a stackable system.
@4:50 pls make sure to sand it down but buying some sand paper and then puting something over it cause cats can cut them self on that since even if it’s a clean cute it can still be sharp or it can scratch them but I love the video good job ❤️❤️❤️
It’s pretty smooth. It’s definitely not sharp enough to scratch or cut. If it’s rough you can put tape over it. It doesn’t cut them but it will collect fur if it’s a bit rough.
Anywhere from a week to three days before their due date (65 days from the day after first mating). If they seem ready to be in that zone I will do it earlier. It may depend on how big they are, who they live with etc. good luck with everything.
Hi Pamela, as a new breeder I am so excited about your videos. These details are really helpful. I like the cage you set up for your cat giving birth. My question is , how many weeks your cat get pregnant, you put her in the cage?
Thank you. I normally put them in at least three days before they are due. Sometimes one week. Then they can settle down, make a mess of the blankets and feel safe. They like to lay on the floor in front of the box or sit on top of the box. They go inside it closer to the due date.
No. A lot of people use them but they are not what I prefer. You need to get trays and boxes in and out. They are dog cages. I like a 48 inch one with a top opening and wheels. :)
@@CatBreedingforBeginners The mama has birthed there before, (we meant to get her spayed but she has a knack for sneaking out and getting pregnant) And today we set it up and she loves it! The only thing she wants in their and doesn’t have is me lol

if your goal is to get kittens into good homes you can always try fostering for a rescue instead of breeding. same type of kitten care is involved.
wondering if you need a heat mat for the new kittens

Sure. It’s a three areas, my home, my outside cats pens and “the barn” which is a purpose built building. I will add it to the list.

So how long does your queen live in the cage for?
Is this a genuine question or are you trying to bait me into an argument?
@@CatBreedingforBeginners I am genuinely interested in the answer to this. I am about to take in a pregnant stray.
Kodos to your effort as well I will be watching all your videos later at home. Already sent to the wife lmao😅😂

Hi Pamela, great video ! Very simple and absolutely practical!! Love it
Can you please tell me the sizes of the black cage and the plastic box?
Thanks
Cage size is above in another reply. Plastic tub just big enough for your cat and to fit in the cage. Sorry I can’t remember how many liters.

The box size is in this video Pregnant Cat Due Soon? Let's Prepare The Birthing Area

Nah not the box but the dog crate. I’m looking to buy a couple but I like your size and setup. Is it 75cm wide 50cm deep 50-60cm high?
what is the measurement of the box in this video?
It’s about 80 or 90 liters.
Wish I could show you how mine turned out!

Hi what are the cage dimensions thanks
They are 48" XXL Dog Cages. 120cm x 80cm x 75cm :)
You are so sweet
And I love cats and want to be a cat breeder to
I want to breed American curls
They are a super fun breed of cat. Make sure you check out my new cat breeders club if you do. www.catbreedingforbeginners.com/new-cat-breeders-club
How looks the setup when the kittens are bigger?
They come out into the room once they are using the litter tray. Then they go into a bigger room when they are bigger.
What are the dimensions of your crates pls.
The are 48 inch dog cages.
