    Everything that you need and nothing that you don't! Love your no-nonsense approach. Great video! -Also stealing that sponge idea. 😀

    I love your setup. I wish my space was big. Alas.
    Anyway, one difference, I use an old cotton T-shirt instead of a sponge. Suggested in Stephen Coates book, to soak up the water on the outside of the brush, but not in the belly.

    You’re a lifesaver! You rock! What a great video. I am brand new to watercolors. I don’t have a designated space other than my dining room, and I had zero, and I mean zero knowledge of how to set it up. You are a godsend.

      Yes. it is. I love it. I have the Stephen Quiller brand, which is kind of expensive. The Meeden version is very similar, but I don't own it. Here are links to both: SQ: amzn.to/3xhCS9I Meeden: amzn.to/3POJF10 Enjoy!!

    Can you expand on the type of easel and support you are using as it looks like something you have made with a tray on the front, a lip, and perhaps a tripod? Thank you

      Hi. Here is a video showing my plein air setup: ruclips.net/video/3AI0XCeKXc4/видео.html Even though you weren't asking about plein air exactly, this is the same easel and shelf you see in the video. Now....I don't use this setup in my studio any longer. I switched to a table top easel. I'm always experimenting with new ways of doing things.

    Very helpful setup tips! I'm just reviving my water-color hobby now after going on a hiatus for over a decade! I'm mostly self-taught, but I'm realizing I've developed some bad habits and probably working too hard to get the effect I need.

    Thank you, I did see that and thought it would be ideal. I'd love to design a drafting table with a a section that allows angling. I'm only 1 year in and paint over my kitchen sink, because of light and my dining room being filled up with work computers for legal decisions. I'd rather paint,

    • @KrisDeBruineStudio
      @KrisDeBruineStudio  5 месяцев назад

      Yes. Many of the professional watercolor artists that I follow use some kind of angled board, on top of a drafting table or regular table. You need to be able to adjust it to a variety of angles, including flat. You want it to be as versatil as possible. I actually modified this table top easle myself to get it the way I want - amzn.to/3J2WnoR I removed the "leg" on the back and just use a block of different width to adjust the angle.

      Haha. I get so many inquiries about my apron. I think I'm going to have to do a video, just on the apron. :-) I purchased it on Amazon.com from the USA. I think it cost about $38. Here is the link: amzn.to/3KAfQNy Enjoy!

    You put a board over the easel? Would you do that if the easel is solid as well? Is it to protect the wood of the easel, or what is the purpose? Thanjs

    • @KrisDeBruineStudio
      @KrisDeBruineStudio  Год назад

      Hi. Yes, this particular easel doesn't include a painting surface. Here is a link on Amazon to the easel, so you can see what it looks like - amzn.to/3Ygqf6q . I cut my own hardboard surfaces and tape my watercolor paper to them. Here's a video about that - ruclips.net/video/DAF-lptBvqY/видео.html Thanks for watching. Have a great day.
