I was curious like everyone else, but it was pretty hard to tell what Roseline's eyes really looked like just from an image search. So I found the video titled "Athlete Role Model, Roseline Filion, is in awe of the talent of YOG 2018 athletes!" here on YT which really shows her eyes, and it's pretty clear why they stood out for Mikaela - for one thing, they're huge!
She is a National Treasure.
Ask yourself why, if this is true, and it is, she is not endorsing freaking everything? Why aren't Nike, Under Armour, Dick's, Gatorade, credit card companies, car companies, banks, clothing lines, etc. using her to hawk their products? The answer is not because skiing is a niche sport because golf and tennis were niche sports as well. Didn't stop all the big advertisers from going huge when they found the athletes they wanted to flood the national stage with. Those athletes became household names, got invited to be on every TV show, often became "icons" overnight. It isn't her sport, it isn't her lack of success. She has enjoyed more success in her sport than pretty much any athlete before her and is likely to be remembered as the greatest skier of all time. Not her looks. Not a shady past. Or present. A photogenic winner that is an excellent role model and conducts herself like a professional and kind person. What does she not have that Tiger, the Williams sisters, Coco Gauff, Kaepernick and LeBron have?

@@cvn6555 The only thing she does not have is a sport that people will watch on TV by the millions, then buy the brands of gear she wears. Other than that, she is perfect.
Women's tennis was the same way. Women's soccer still is. So it is for the WNBA. All of these get pushed by the networks. If the big advertisers got in the game, women's skiing would be easily as popular, especially with an ideal American woman winning all the time.
Now EVERYONE wants to see that reports eyes so that we can learn what was so distracting...

Where is she from? I thought I heard a french accent but then thought I misheard cuz she's on the US team. Am I right?
all american - New England, New Jersey, Colorado roots and upbringing. But she's multilingual on tour, and being a teenager in Vermont, she heard, and probably imitated, French- and Anglo-Canadian accents all the time. I thought I heard her (unconsciously?) mimicking the interviewer - wonder if Mikaela would agree, on listening
I do that, too! I worked in an international community for 18 years and have acquired a slightly different accent. But I'm very chameleon like. I think it's maybe about wanting to be understood. I've seen other athletes do the same thing. I'm thinking cyclists similarly touring with other athletes from all over the world. Hesitations ... to choose words carefully and think about how best to be clear as well.

Regardless of her appreciation for human beauty, her response to a vapid question was detailed and articulate. I’m no expert, but that seems rare in a sports interview.

@@mattjewett4473 Depends on what you consider rich. I took it up when I had little change to spare, but I liked doing it, so that's where I put what change I had. Like everything in my life, I got what I wanted by never going into debt - stick to that and you can afford a lot more than many who earn two or three times as much.

I don't love Mikaela Shiffrin because she has won more World Cups than anyone else. I love the fact that she owned her mistakes at the 2022 Olympic as opposed to making excuses and blaming others. I judge a person based on how they handle their failures as opposed to how they handle success. Mikaela Shiffrin has good morals and a kind heart. Rock on Mikaela!

Roseline was probably looking at Mikaela straight on at the time, with the sunlight on her face. Those blue grey eyes piercing at anyone would have that effect.
People don’t realize how a big open blue sky behind them can absolutely light up the color in someone’s eyes, especially hazel or blue. It can be dumbfounding and up someone’s game considerably.

Perhaps it is the poor quality of the images available on the internet, but looking at @ 100 different pictures of Ms. Filion, I did not see anything noteworthy about her eyes? Do not misunderstand me - she is overall glorious, but her eyes are not her best feature. I'd vote for that smile. 🙂

There is usually a bit of awkwardness a bit apparent here when the interviewer is not a native english speaker. Her english is good but a bit off putting. Of course the race was in Quebec, cest entendu. Mikaela is a legend already except in her own head, nice young lady.

Imagine if a guy had said that!!! Trudeau would be on tv claiming how offended he was and pissed off and racing for airtime with Jagmeet to have that individual immediately dropped from the Canadian National Ski Team! It would be lead story on CBC and the faux outrage that someone said that to their employee.
Awful that a normal human reaction has such different outcomes depending on the sex of the individual who says it. And yes Roseline Filion is a great Canadian Olympian, a decorated champion in diving, and a role model for her sport and Canada, who also just happens to have beautiful eyes.

I’ve been on the mountain when women’s ski team was training. I raced to keep within sight, but she was so extremely fast. Most people don’t realize how fast and on the cutting edge they train. And I mean ‘cutting edge’ literally. Amazing to see live to at Breckinridge Colorado USA. Oops I should mention back then the USA Women’s SKI Team was actually all women. BTW YOUR EYES ARE BEST PART OF YOUR CUTE PERSONALITY. GOOD LUCK1
I have seen the women’s FIS at Killington Vermont many times and they ski so fast and with such power. It’s truly amazing. You are correct there is no way I could ever hang with them.
