    i live in a rural town that has a diner, which happens to sell a gourmet burger that costs around $15. It has a really thick juicy patty (thicker than the big mac's 2 patties combined) and if I add everything on it, fries, and a drink, it comes up to about $20. I'd rather spend my money on that than a burger from McDonald's.

Back in 2009 they were making $9 or $10 bucks and now they offer you maybe $1 or $2 dollars more if you're lucky. And if you left your guard down in the interview they might even be able to lowball you and offered you the same $9 or $10 they were offering back in 2009

    A slowdown is NOT coming. At the first sign of cracks, the Fed and government will jump in and make large cuts and announce money printing. That’s how it was in 2021. It will be incredibly easy for the Fed to bring that back.

    • @CaedenV
      @CaedenV 14 дней назад

      Yeah, doom slayers are going to doom say. But the whole point of the high interest rates and offloading the fed balance sheet is to wind the spring for next economic downturn. Every month that the fed keeps doing what it has been doing, is increasing headroom and flex ability for future fed actions.
      It isn't to say that we can keep on the same course forever, but we can maintain this for a very looooong time.

A hyperinflation or stagflation event just makes the rich richer and the middle and poor class poorer. Pick one.

      My plan's to sideline cash in high yield savings & go in heavy when things start to take a turn for the worst, especially when you consider an investment like a Roth IRA capping at $7k/yr. Doesn't make sense to DCA for over inflated assets. There's a Jarred Morrow vid talking about lump sum investing being more profitable than DCA outside of a few outlier periods.

    I am finding out that lower income American are tapped out already and lower middle class is getting there soon and are trading down or beginning to be tapped out also. Purchasing homes and autos is difficult at best or nearly impossible. This is creeping up the income scale and if the market does decline significantly those wealthy individuals that depend on that income will start being affected also. The ONLY thing holding it all together is credit cards which allows the middle and lower incomes to keep on spending at all.

      While I agree with you, are you going to be the politician to get voted into office to tell all of the retired people that there are going to be price limits on their one and only major investment? I mean, the situation sucks, but changing the social contract like that is going to put millions of retirees in the poor house and get you voted out if office in a heartbeat!
      The US population going forward is roughly flat. Fast forward 20 years and the boomers will be dying off or moving to old folks homes, freeing up tons of housing inventory. And because future generations aren't significantly larger, our housing build will keep up with demand, and housing values will even out.
      In the long game it is going to get sorted out... But I don't think anyone has the stones to fix the current problem.

    2008 -2024 In reality we did have massive speculative investment in stocks and real estate- because incomes were not reflecting the reality of the real economy. The inflation capacity has been inflated again by massive money printing and so all ' investment classes have become over valued compared to the domestic economy. This is why insurance premiums have exploded- all the risks are now being factored in....
    what could go wrong ? :)

    When the auto manufacturers went under in 2008, the feds came out with "cash for clunkers" which also failed. So in 2010, auto manufacturers, Ford offered $15k off f150s which at that time cost $40k for an xlt crew cab. Chrysler offered lifetime powertrain warranty on the ram trucks. I can't remember what GM (chevy) was offering. I remember all this because I had bought a brand new f150 crew cab xlt back then.

    If you follow up on super investors, like the ones that are so rich, they have to report what they buy and sell to the government. Warren buffet and bill gates both sold off some of their portfolios. They decided to just hold on to cash, a lot of it.
    What do they know that we don't?
    Obviously, they want to put their money to work instead of just having it sit around, but they deemed it was more worth it to just have it in case

    McDonald’s pricing is self inflicted. They have increased pricing by percentage more and faster than any other company in the sector, faaaar outpacing inflation rate. Meanwhile food quality and size has declined. They have gotten greedy at the expense of the likely poorest and unhealthiest consumer base of any food chain. I have Zero sympathy for their lost revenue as customers seek other options.
