Alot of D&D players do which makes sense because alot of them are people that play the game and have realised the same thing everyone does after playing it for so long. The game is what you make it and that is the best part.
Personally my group and I got into Call of Cthulhu 7th edition years ago and we plan on switching over to playing more of that instead of playing the next edition of D&D. We will probably just play 5e on the side.
That's good. It's good to see people expanding and finding new systems. I hope you and your group continue to enjoy your games. 5E for me is what I stick to for now and hey if they ever release a new editiont that I like, I'll give it a try but for now I'm sticking to D&D5E and expanding to other systems.
