@Maskkd This is a strawman to me. For me, it's moreso that The Show has *never* been even close to that level of monetization *and still stands in stark contrast to those other offerings in almost every way.*
There are annoyances, sure, but to me it stems from a very fundamental misunderstanding of both this game's power structure and the power structure of the other offerings. What's "paywalled" in The Show is a) obtainable on the market and b) doesn't always represent a marked improvement over other, cheaper, offerings. I *still* start Gold Castro. He's *still* my best hitter on the team. He was free with pretty minimal grind in BR and is about 6k on the market. 2k's 84 overalls absolutely do not play in most circumstances at this point. Not even their Salary Cap mode.
On top of that, the best cards *can't even be purchased on the market.* That isn't happening here. While the best cards are steep and that *is* annoying, they *are* still obtainable, even for me as a NMS player. A quick check of the market reveals only two players I can't afford right this second, and they're the two WS rewards that just came out yesterday and should be ~30k in a few weeks. And that stub count has not come via flipping or anything of that sort. I spend 99% of my time on the game just playing.
I could absolutely keep going about the stark differences, but I assure you, it's not particularly close to even "trending in that direction" as some people claim. Yeah, it's totally annoying not to be able to have a crack at some of this stuff, but it's very crucially not *detrimental.*
I only play offline on Diamond dynasty and today felt like a slap in my face barely got shit for offline players honestly really sad to see

What’s crazy is that you spend $100 dollars and get 150,000 stubs basically you can buy 3 40,000 stubs packs that don’t warranty a single good diamond. 1 of those packs is around $33. That’s insane!

Game is Hot Garbage this year…
There whole meta now is buy 95s, grind 91s. Then 4 weeks later, buy 99s, grind 95s. Buy to win or wait to win. It’s a paywall to win early.
the difference is 1 or 2 points, not 4-5. Still not great, but at least be honest.
This is in my opinion the only game thats easy to have a worse team and still destroy who you face. Ovr means jack shit in this game compared to others. Especially with parallels.
My biggest problem with everything is that in a week or 2 these cards will be outdated anyways since they’re progressing so quickly through overalls. I hate it pretty soon there’s gonna be 97-99’s in the game in April like why they are jsut killing the life span of their game the last 2 years.
If SDS stays this course going forward this game will be dead in a few years. People will get sick of it
This is why I stopped playing Madden.
I REALLY enjoyed grinding and building a team with my brother.
And then the next year, it was just all in packs.
Limited time cards ect, and not as many cards to get from grinding.
I hope The Show doesn’t go down that same path
The pack odds are ridiculous. Worse than madden even. I stopped buying madden a long time ago. This will be the last time I buy the show.
Another thing I noticed was when I was grinding the first Topps now, you have to get extra base hits with a dh, and there is only one in the game, which is Nick martini, so you need to spend 25K just to get one mission done. They really need to fix this
That week they also gave a DH Shohei Ohtani and there was a gold DH Chili Davis from BR you could get.
Yeah SDS has really been letting the community down on this front. Really disappointing how each year they progressively have gotten more and more money grabby.

As someone who doesn’t have a ton of time to play and is nms, I basically just decided that I’m going to be playing mostly RTTS and Franchise this year

I fully agree with this, I’m a Red Sox fan and I love playing the show and watching baseball with my dad and we both really enjoy watching Jarren Durran right now, but we would have to buy him, it’s just so annoying
Your biggest mistake was thinking that SDS cares even a little bit about how many people are playing their game. They care about 1 thing and 1 thing only and that's making money.

They also snuck an optional mission in that can only be accomplished by buying packs and rockets you through the progression of a program. SDS is slimy, man. They're out here trying to catch whales for their P2W service and we (the players than just play without unloading their bank account) suffer. CAPs being restricted from DD is a big bummer for me too. I really enjoyed playing my friends with my fantasy baseball team and my CAP against theirs. AND still no online franchise mode (my guess would it's because that mode doesnt make as much $$$ so they do not care).

I was a fully offline player since '18. This is the fastest I have stopped playing DD. Quit at the egg hunt. Not offline friendly. When all the buy to play packs came out, was for sure the sign I was not coming back this year to DD, no matter what they do moving forward this year. Which I believe they will not change their direction.They continue to try and make more money from there users. Now moving to next year, well at this point I will not be buying it unless they make major upgrades to RTTS and Franchise. And stop putting make-up on the game and actually give it a real facelift. This sucks becuase I have but hundreds of hours in each years game. And it is not looking like I will be playing The Show that much this year. RIP SDS

I got one of those choice packs in team affinity and chose spring breakout pack 1. But when I went on there, it was now a sellable card, still with a choice of 90. When I went to open the pack, it stated that you would pull either the rare round or the base round. I got the base round. Not sure when they changed all that around.
SDS needs to raise the xp cap, too. I hit it in 3 1/2 hours today.

@@RealSkyeBlue when I played last year, buying the more expensive bundles got you more cards needed to get a boss. If you played middle of the road you had an opportunity to get some of the pieces. The $100 bundles guaranteed you enough to get a boss. No idea how they do it now
All games are turning into microtransactions.. and its ruining everything.. sds better drop a conquest map with all those packs that we need
Love this Fuzz.....I do think they should give us a better option at earning some of these packs......I hope they put them in a pack kind of like the did the Seoul series/ Young Star pack that is now able to be earned. I dont earn a lot of stubs usually so some of these cards might be out of reach......Im a casual decent player but if you ever see me in the world series you know ive been hacked or made a deal with the devil HA. I am still having fun with the game at this point but who knows for how long if all the players you want/need are in 40k packs.

Fuzzy, I was just playing MLB the show 24 when I pulled the chase pack 3 out of a standard. On my first Chase pack of the year I got the headliner. Thanks for reading this.
The one argument I've heard with season drops is that there should at least be one season drop pack in the program so it gives you the chance to get the rare player. Replace one of the standard packs towards the end of the program and slot in a season awards pack. One thing I've said since launch is that there should've been a Seoul Series program even if it was only two games. SDS could've found a way to make a Seoul program.
This is one of the biggest reasons I stopped streaming all together which sucks because I used to be part of this amazing cool community I was forced to have people play for me and such which in itself caused problems because im just average! And will never get these cards unless I have someone who is better play . So my solution was to give up . Wish I didn’t but hey life
The show has been pay to win for a long time now. Gave up on the show after 22 for this exact reason. I don’t have a ton of time to grind so it takes months to build a team, I’m not going to invest that time if they are just going to roll over seasons and now I can’t use the team that I just spent all that time getting
The show isn’t pay to win. But the content structure is absolutely a travesty. Buying all the best cards won’t suddenly make you a top 100 player
@@SCBaseball18 correct, buying a top tier team will not replace a thousand hours of playing the game. But seeing how only 100 out of the millions of people that buy the game are in the top 100, it is a clearly distinct advantage to everyone else to always have the best possible cards.
@@swilliams21231 what? No those players play on the hardest difficulty. They play each other. I wouldn’t be afraid of someone who plays the game a lot, has some of the 99s but a very average record. Let’s not act like the “100” people affect majority of the community because they won’t play those guys. I got to HoF and haven’t seen any outrageous teams with 94+ anywhere

If you take two average players and one has bought all the best cards then they will have a clear advantage over the other. That doesn’t mean that they can’t still lose because there are elements of skill and heavy RNG in the game. But that doesn’t change the fact that you can get an immediate sizable advantage by spending money.

Did anyone get the 89 and lower round out of the soul series/mlb spring traning pack? I got the 87 round and I was able to sell for 3k but the pack says 90 ovr rare round non sellable?

It’s not just that they’re in packs. It’s the fact that I pulled 3 straight Max fucking Meyer cards along with starting with McCann and the Estrada… So I don’t even get the OPTION to buy more…
Im not very good at the game, I like playing on veteran and HOF I cant hit the damn ball. All these team affinity awards being in HOF difficulty make me not want to do them.

It really does suck to see this. I started playing the game when it first came on Xbox few years ago and loved it that I could get great cards for just playing the game and putting a little grind in. Now it’s hard to get the great cards when they’re locked behind a paywall like 2K or madden.. I blame the higher executives for this. It’s hard for me to put all the blame on the devs
As someone who has kids and sucks at the game but likes playing it when I can 2-3 times a week you spoke everything I been feeling last year was bearable cause every card was a 99 but this year. I can’t even win a game cause half my team is live series
Yeah…you lose because half your team is live series. I believe you lose because of what you said in your first sentence. Even if I gave you money to complete live series and buy the best current cards, you’d still struggle because it’s not P2W. If you stink at the game, no team will help you

Idk, I spent $0 on the game and I’m already pretty close to finishing the team collection. Sure I’m not able to get the TOP players in the game through packs but it’s only what, 1 overall better and an extra stat/booster from the rest of the free players? Once you have damn near all the cards in the team collections and other collections, you can just quick sell everybody you get and to my surprise it adds up fairly quick.
I’m also a little irritated the jelly beans didn’t last longer.
I have 31 and don’t feel like playing the Easter egg conquest 6 more times just to get over 100 jelly beans (if you even pull them each pack)
Just spent days saving up 40k stubs for the stupid classics pack and hit base round worth 9k. I hate the way the game is setup this year. So lame.
Mainly offline and NMS here: I feel like I am playing a diet version of the game this year.

Ya fuzzy I'm a casual player on this game only cuz I absolutely love baseball but I can't afford to be throwing money at this game and since I'm no demon I don't have many stubs and since I'm a die hard ranger fan I'm blowing my stubs trying to get wyatt Langford and can't even get him so ya I'm totally in agreement it's ridiculous. I almost have nothing to do on there now cuz I don't have really anything to grind for
I’m only investing into core cards early game getting max value for the stubs I spend s1 prices will tank in s2
I was so hype for this game after I lost interest in The Show 23 in a few months after release. But as an offline player who loves DD for the collection aspect of the cards, not being able to earn cards without having to spend stubs has put me off The Show 24 within 2 weeks and I don't plan on returning.
I'm not very good at the game, and don't have a ton of time to spend on it. Plus I spend more time in franchise mode. All of this adds up to me never using any of those cards.
Maybe I read it wrong but I thought that Seoul/spring breakout pack was supposed to guarantee a 90 overall rare round. I've opened 2 an both gave me 87s. Feels bad.

I bought 3 Classics packs and 3 of the 35k headliners and didn’t get the rare round in any of them. These packs are legit scams this year
I’ve had more luck with the regular show packs then any other packs this year.
technically you don't have to spend real life money on the game to get these packs, but you do have to use stubs which either take a lot of time to get or you have to pay for
This doesn’t have to deal with this vid but, why didn’t they keep the same series of cards in team affinity along the hole thing, like in 23 they had all charisma series cards and in Al east team affinity chapter 2 all pipeline cards? It made it a lot clearer? Ya know.
Team affinity wasn’t broken up like this last year, where each team gets THREE cards each season
When each team got ONE card it worked, but there’s just no realistic way it could work in the same model again

I think what most people have been concerned with is the lack of programs and lack of ability to earn any of the pack cards, and there’s A LOT of pack cards like that, this year
I’ve never had any issue with SDS putting the ABSOLUTE best cards in the game into Chase packs, because they need to give the crazy whales a ‘reason’ to pump money into the game, but when stuff like Seoul Series, Pipeline Series etc could’ve EASILY had a quick program attached to at least earn one of the packs, but that just didn’t happen…….. that wasn’t a great sign
I’ve been disappointed with the availability of packs and free progression this year. Collections have been weak too. Like why have so many new series of cards with no reason to try to collect them
I love the Show dont get me wrong I have 200+ hours every year while being a student but this is bull I logged on with my friend exited to see the new drops and both logged off after 30 minutes nothing new just taking the madden 20 route
They have been making it to pay to win since last year. Since they went to sets or what the call seasons now (same fucking thing) it's been a pay to win. Really getting annoying.
It’s not okay for SDS due to packs and card prices that is where you draw the line, but the people selling Trout, Acuna, and Othani, are good, strange. Have not seen one negative video on the people that sell the higher overall diamonds at 90-160k. What are we doing here? The message is it’s clearly okay for players to make 90-160k stubs, but not okay for a company, and that’s what SDS is, to make money. It’s a weird take on where people put their anger…
Already have moved onto other games in my library. Corporate evil killed football, soccer and basketball. Baseball was inevitable.

For me I wanted to use a Cruz card for my BIG BOIS team I use every year but NOPE 150k for that card is not worth it at all. I want to run my Cleveland theme team. Want Shane Bieber? 50-60k in a pack. I love Beibs but absolutely not at 50-60k for a pitcher I will barely use. The 3 choice packs in the TA paths is a good step but they need to go further.

If The Show is going to be this way it needs to become a free game.
So have the packs been not good, or are the best players in packs. You led off showing 3 cards that are mid and aren't in anyone's ranked teams unless they are doing a theme team and said they were great, but then said you don't spend any stubs on packs cause they haven't been great. The best cards that have been in packs at the time they were released are arguably Skenes, Oneill Cruz and Castellanos or Edward Cabrera.
I'm also not happy with the early monetization and lack of actual content. Having the Seoul Series and Spring break packs in TA chapter 2 has alleviated some of that and they will release more of those packs into programs going forward, but it still is worse than prior years. The lack of content was partially due to not having a WBC like last year, but the content is finally catching up, and there is a full schedule to come. If they include more packs, it'll be better, but I still understand the frustration. But stay consistent. Either the packs aren't worth it, or they have too many great players in them. Pick one lane. Shane Bieber's card is crap, and the best cards in the game right now are all earnable, with minimal exceptions.
It can definitely be better, but can we at least be honest enough to stop trying to compare this to EA and 2K. It's not great and the trend is troubling, but it's not in the same ballpark as those Pay to win models.

Not sure you mentioned it, but earning stubs through gameplay simply isn’t a thing. Avging around 15-20 stubs per ranked game. That’s 6000-8000 games played to afford 1 choice pack through gameplay only excluding programs and selling cards from packs
This is true and it’s impressive that you did the math but you can still get free normal packs and ballin packs and that can help you get more stubs.
I complete the whole ranked rewards and pulled ohtani and judge so it was worth it
It’s truly ridiculous, the cards that are in packs are unbelievable than the TA cards let’s be honest, are straight dogshit when the game has always been made to appeal to the offline grinders and people who put a lot of time into the game but suddenly it’s gone
For anyone bored with offline grinding programs. Hop into the event, makes for a lot fresher gameplay!

I tried to be understanding because EA San Diego needs money but this is ridiculous you can't make stubs unless you're elite and the grind is basically worthless so I have deleted the game faster than I deleted 23making this the worse baseball game ever

Diamond dynasty is the only ultimate team where you can openly make stubs by using the market or using exchanges. As much as i agree they are doing pay to win, but ANYBODY can go out and make 100k stubs in a week if they just look at strats. Im not going to say how i make stubs but literally just youtube it

I have never spent money on the game and I have only 3 season awards cards and those are the ones in the program. Also I’m not that good at this game.
Still my favorite sports sim and my favorite studio, but SDS is definitely taking a page out of MUT this year and it sucks for everyone. Even the spenders/content creators get a gut punch when there's no way to access content without opening your wallet.

Last year was WAYYYYYY better not even in the same dimension!!! Having the hypest cards 99 day 1 was fkn lit! And most of the cards were useable and great! The chase packs had the best players but you still had just about every exciting hype name you can possibly think of for free! Plus the market was a million times better so I flipped my way easily to a million stubs and bought all the chase pack players and any other cards I didn’t get from events and BR! This year there ain’t but fkn 3 cards I ACTIALLY want to use! Buncha no name garbage for hundreds of dollars just a waste of my fkn time! Why tf did I spend $120 on the game for if everything was p2play??? Just horrible pathetic decisions being made! This game will die in a matter of weeks from now if they don’t make HIGE changes
This game is just boring now. It’s the same stuff over & over. Diamond Dynasty needs an overhaul. The gameplay is still legit but the modes have all gotten stale.
