- Seeing if we can get this stock 1956 Chevy started and moved to the shop after it's been sitting for 20 years, and do a look over and get a parts list together to do a future ls swap in it.
00:00 56 Chevy walk around.
02:37 assessing the motor to see if it'll run
10:42 Attempting a first start
17:01 Taking the 56 for it's first drive
18:37 Looking over the 56 to get a parts list. - Авто/Мото
I have put over 200,000 on my original 235. They are work horses ... noticed the thing has the original black coil-distributor lead on it, this car is very very original and probably low miles.
The dome light even works !
Haha yeah I noticed that in the video
Holy crap, that’s clean and complete!!!
Nice clean old 56 for a survivor awesome find .
What a sweet Sunday treat
That 235 six has plenty of life left in it. It's a shame to swap it out. It is capable of today's traffic. I put 150 thousand on mine till the fiber timing gears went and I sold it.
Partial to them myself; family had 3 of them back in the 60s, (all at same time!) 2 wagons,
(one a 9 pass. Belair w/ P.P. mtr.), and 2dr. 210 sedan, my h.s. car. Still miss them to this day!
Those six's are just so darn good and it's hard to kill them!!! No wonder customers ordered so many cars with them....Well done.
That music sounded like the nineteen fifties, out shopping for men's double knit slacks and turtle neck sweaters!!! Thanks for sharing Brent!!
I understand the driveability aspect of a
LS swap , but my heart is in the cool factor of a stock 6 and a stick . Maybe a split exhaust manifold and dual exhaust . Grandma's grocery getter.
Amazed how nice it ran and even the interior light works.
4:35 Worked on many cars with points (yes I'm an old man).
Those look to be Blue Streak or Standard ignition points.
Just some brain candy for readers.
Well that was a great video Brent! Best part of this was when you mentioned that you quit smoking. I quit cold turkey 3 years ago after I suffered a stroke in the kitchen. Doing pretty good now. Keep well.
yeah that was a long time ago for me so long I don't remember when now haha
My first American Car, 1967 , I was 14 yrs old and found a 2dr 210 Green & Black. The old cast iron case powerglide trans was half the weight of the car. It wasn't but a couple of weeks before I had a clutch pedal hanging from under the dash, a 3 speed and the Hurst Mystery Shifter linkage.
*- That 216 straight six has more oomph than most people understand.*
*- Put some tall tires that are not over-width on it and it will fly and corner better.*
*- Fix it to run as is and get the owner to drive it.*
*- There is probably more value in it with original factory matching numbers, than with changed engines.*
👍🏻Thanks for getting another car back on the road! Great job getting the straight six running, I have one in my 53’ Chevy and it gets a lot of looks at the show. They don’t have the power of a LS but it’s a great cruising motor.
That’s one of the best looking untouched 56s I e seen! And what’s the big deal about all these will it run videos…. Easy peasy
Old Chevy still a looker and the engine comming to life just added excitement! Thanks Brent!
That would be a cool little ride just to leave like it is put brakes on it and driving she's beautiful thanks for the vids partner your friend and biggest fan
NORTH GEORGIA MIKE
That model was notorious for rusting around the headlights because they did not have inner fenders. I had a two door with the power pack motor and for it’s time it was plenty fast
1956, my favorite of the Tri-five Chevy's!!!! Caron Dog and I enjoyed this episode on a Lazy Sunday Re-hab day! She purred like a kitten!
That little ride is remarkable shape for being a CANADIAN 56. Rust is not bad at all. Keep up the AWESOME videos...
I had one when I was 16. It was a inline six, two door auto. Solid cars.
With some love the old stove bolt came back to life. It almost seems a shame to LS swap it. BTW I like the "flow thru" air conditioning on the panel truck.
Hi Brent. I love those old air filters with the oil bath really great for dusty constructions . The old VW s had them they catch everything .
Looks like a nice clean starting point! 56 is my favorite year of the trifives. I wish I lived a little closer I'd come buy that old stovebolt 6 and give it a good home!
1956 Chevy was a nice size car and looked good. Nice project.
Hello from peg city. My father had a brand new 56 just like that one same colour as that. I remember having to get out and show people at the service stations where the gas cap was.
Love that your videos always show nice progress on the builds! Very nice video work, nice to see you’ve got some help. 🤘🏻🤘🏻👍👍
Nice 56 Brent! All the stainless looks to be there, not much rust. You always have cool projects!
I am impressed. Great old girl, she needs to be back on the road. And soon
very neat old unit
Got her running, cool. I guess old Chevys don’t die they are just in hibernation. 😎👍🇨🇦
Not too shabby, the fuel pump still works, eh!"Heavy Chevy, we ♡ u!!"
That's a nice car! I'd fix the brakes and seats and drive it!
Tune up, tires, brakes, seats, clear coat, drive it everywhere.
Heck yeah definitely fix the seats and I would drive it proudly as is!!👍🗽🇺🇸🦅
Overhaul motor sell it , people might factory engine!!!???
Beautiful 210 with all the correct badging
My father had a '56 Chevy, but he refused to save it for me. The dirty dog!
Going to be a nice driver! Your friend no doubt will have many hours of fun. I predict another great series coming up! Thanks Brent.
It’s got a 57 Belair V8 rear trunk lid on it. Everything looks sounds on it except the headlight brows who’s is an easy fix. It pretty much already is a daily driver. Cool car. 👍😄👉🇺🇸🇨🇦
Nice shape! That must have been a pretty penny wherever he found it.
Brent, you never lack for interesting projects to work on!! That's why I can't wait for your videos. Thank you once again.
Cheers !
Great video my friend glad you posted keep them coming.
I'd keep that motor for an old Chev truck. They are one of the best made.
Afternoon Brent, well another project to start on, the 4 door 56 will make a nice driver for someone...GOD BLESS!!!
That's a nice 56. Should make a great cruiser.👍
Looks pretty solid and a Bel Air model to boot! I even like the color. Gonna make a nice cruiser for sure. Watch, by Wednesday the 16th, Brent will have rcvd no fewer than 3 points files in the mail from faithful Canadian based patrons that also watch Mortske's Garage.
Who needs points files when you can just grab the wife's emory board like they used to in the old days
You make it look so easy, starting a motor that has sit for who knows how long. I learned something today about points firing, real cool. That was a good fined for buddy/friend/client. It was good to see the panel van start up and your boy's truck as well. I liked you show alot.
Kind of strange....someone paid for the top of the line Bel Air, but bought it with a six cylinder, three speed manual transmission, no radio, and vacuum wipers!
this 56 is in pretty good shape . i have 56 belair cp i am working on , i wish it was this nice when i got it.
Thank you very much for another great video, keep up the great work and God Bless you and your family 💯👍👍🙏🙏✌
Look forward to your documentation of the LS swap in the 56, just picked one up these up myself and considering going that route myself. Keep up the great work.
I think it will I think it will..... it did.
Canadian watching from the philippines love your videos
I gave a 👍👍before even watching...that baby she is clean😍😍😍
56 Chevy , my favorite , Keep the vids coming Brent
That's going to make a great project car 👍👍🇨🇱
Can't wait for this one, going to be nice
The trim looks awesome barring a couple of parts!
Thats one great find ,will make a super family road tripping car Brent
That looks like a great project
Everything looks clean and complete. Do the body work and a paint job and you have a nice example of a 56 Chevy. I'd love it. Well the interior needs the works, but there are loads of upholstery shops. 👍🍺🕵🏾♂️🎸🎵👽🥂
On the 56 Chevy it breaks my heart to think you might change any think please just restore her to her natural beauty
can't wait to see the next episode
56 the best looking year.
55 6&7 all look good 👍 Dad had a 57 2dr post 6cyl. 3 spd over drive posi he ordered new. Traded a 54 Ford he had bought new in, had a bad cam, the lobes were soft on some of them and he got one.
Looking forward to this project!
Very cool car, really love the patina in this car!!!
Sweet first start. Good Ole Chevy
That gas fill location is awesome! I’ve never seen that before
Why would you make that a bigger project, talk your friend to make it stop and keep the 6
That’s a pretty sweet car, great shape!
As always thanks for sharing Guvna
Why change out a perfectly good engine never understand people
Very nice looking car. Looks like it's pretty much all there. Gonna be a real nice driver. That 6-banger has to be worth something to someone. Look forward to seeing more work on this one. Be safe and stay well.
Nice. Everytime he opened the front door I thought he was calling his dog to ride with him.
cant wait to see this one, its my favorite year for the tri-fives.
Love that 56,just subbed,great video.🙂
That’s a perfect one to make into a two Dr Brent
Nice video! Use that 6 cyl and make some kind of blue flame roadster special’ ladder frame, truck body with roof and pillars cut off, short little Windsheild. Little mini flat bed, open engine bay with 32 roadster type grill. 🏁
Heck , the thing sounds better than my daily driver .
Wow you can get anything to run it amazes me sometimes wat it takes you to get something to run, I learn new tricks with every video of yours I watch worse part you make it look simple an I'll never pull it off but makes me want to try an give it hell. THANKS
That's what you need, another project, at least it doesn't look too major. Thanks for the video.
haha it's summer, there's no real schedule for anything :)
You all got more tri 5 Chevys in Canada than we do in the U.S.
It will be cool just leave it a four door and do the LS swap . 😁
Yeah there's no plans on 2 dooring this one as the feller already has a 2 door
Cool vid man and cool old Chevy.
NICE...besides a few crusty bits she looks great!
Beautiful as it is ,TOO BAD It's Getting an LS. God Bless All.
YALSS syndrome strikes again…….
Cosmetic wise, I wouldn’t touch it! 😍 for a road cruiser I’d do seats, suspension, tires and brakes and drive the beauty!
Love yer old shop
How nice the 6-cylinder, here in argentina we have a category that is Turismo carretera(road tourism) that those use but they are multivalve with 450hp, very nice the 56, hug.
Often the silica and debris from sandpaper act as an insulator. That's why they make contact points files. I learned that the hard way about 1963.
Haha yeah there just hard to get into there without pulling the points :)
Well it seems to be in good shape over all
NOBODY thought it wouldn't start
Great vid........... 👍👍
Well done, and rare at the same time! You deserve a steak dinner Sir!
dang!! makes me miss my 55and 56 2 door I had :(
-56 is a nice year model. Built the same year as me.. 😂
That is a great idea to restore the oil car.
That's definitely understand that changes anything for quality Trip put little old and new testament
Buen día, excelente proyecto para customizar
