@Deathwish699 no additional cables were required. I had 2x boxes of 3 in 1 kit of QX120 RGB coolers + 1 single box of QX120 cooler + QX120 radiator( 3 fans) on top of the case. No any additional cables were needed. These boxes have it all. Very clean but expensive build!

I think Corsair realized that not including the mini cable with the single fan was a bad move. I just purchased the AIO, 3 fans, and a single fan -- and the single fan came with the cable in the box.

Just wanted to say thank you. I wasn’t getting power to the fans on the radiator on my H170i. I couldn’t figure it out because the directions weren’t clear on looping a cable from the end of the radiator to the side/top of the radiator. Seeing you do that instantly fixed the problem and ended my woes. I didn’t see the port on the side/top when I installed the radiator so was clueless to its existence. Thank you!

Same here, although the suspiciously short length of some of the cables had me hunting for a guide a lot earlier in the process. When I found this video my first thought was "how the heck is that not in the manual?" So I went back and checked. I wish I could paste an image here, because it's so dumb. It's angled from above the fan, so you see the connection to the controller, and a cable going off the bottom of the image. If you look closely enough, you'll see a few millimeters of it looping back up and disappearing behind the edge of the fan. That's it. The actual connector is not visible whatsoever, and nowhere else in the manual is the connector on the side of the fan shown. Someone decided these were clear enough instructions. Sheesh.

Wow. So much easier than the Commander and Commander Pro and the link nodes. Cables are just everywhere with those. Fan control cable, RGB control cable, multiple commander nodes, etc. just makes it one big mess with trying to wire manage it. I am seriously looking at going this route with the new link system.

Just got most of my parts for my new build and am going with this link set-up. Going to go with the H150i Link AIO, then replace the two 120mm fans on my GPU Radiator with the Link fans, then link to two more 140mm QX fans on the bottom of the case. And Finally connect the rear QX fan to the AIO or the bottom fans. (Have to see the space situation first)
As a FYI, Corsair is now selling the Link AIO Radiators with the LCD display. (Also has the standalone LCD you can replace the old one with but it's on back-order atm)
Many thanks for the video! Knew the basics for this already, but this video makes it a lot easier to understand.

At first I thought I was going to be able to make everything neat and tidy but I soon realized that I was still going to end up with cable salad back there. In the front of my case everything looks great but the back is a nightmare.

Everything appeared to have installed fine and RGB is working and the pump header shows the default cooler temp display, however I don't appear to have any display settings within Icue to change the display of the pump header. Ive powered off and disconnected the PSU overnight and also disconnected and re connected all cables but still no option to change the display on the pump. I have also plugged direct into a USB header on MOBO rather that using the provided splitter. Have you come across this issue at all and if so how did you resolve it? TIA

Is it possible to cable rear fan to connect to front 3X fan set? Perhaps balance the hub inputs? Hub input 1: Front 3X fans(Intake) + Rear Fan (exhaust). Hub input 2: Top 3X fans (push into radiator, exhaust out top) + CPU Pump. Any thoughts on cabling it that way? This would in theory, put 4 devices on each input of the iCue hub? Any benefit to having the hub inputs balanced like that?

If purchasing the original Corsair lcd and not the upgrade kit to lcd, you will find that the lcd module has three wires coming from it. Two or three of these wires will be routed to the back to the small commander core module. However, there’s nowhere to plug in all the cables, unlike the lcd upgrade kit. The upgrade kit doesn’t have three wires or cables going out of it. So how the hell do we wire an original lcd kit to the commander core. I really don’t want to use the bigger controller, I have all magnetic fans and only want to use the smaller controller. Any suggestions!

Just to let you know: I bought a iCUE Link QX120 RGB Expansion Kit (single Fan) and I had an extra cable in it. I just did a full 10 Fan 5000D Case build and I didn't needed any additional cable. (2x 3fan expansion kits, 1x 1fan expansion kit and 1x H150i RGB kit) - The only thing that worries me, is the motherboard cable behind the fan/radiador. They are mega tight.

Im currently running a h150i Elite LCD (with its 3 fans) and 7 ML120s over a 5000T RGB case, obviously Ill have to get more link cables, but can I get away with using a H170i iCue Link AIO with 7 link fans on just the hub that comes with the cooler? (1 rear fan thats my exhaust and 6 in the front thats my intake)

  • @MaddJakd

The cable thing isn't that bad.
Just installed a QX140 starter kit. Then after confirming the other fan sizes, ordered another single QX140.
Both the kit AND the single come with a short right-angle cable.
Not sure if it's an update or not, but unless one is trying to connect something way across the case, or a straight plug is either ideal or a must for "perfection," you're set.

Dammit, my 1000w Strix PSU connectors are maxed out, running a 13900k+4090 😭 time to pick up a Thor P2 😏 Got the Lian Li fans in currently but wanna got back to iCUE like I had with my QL120s (still the best looking RGB fans ever). Great run down, they could have definitely done things a little "better" but at least they finally delivered a product to match the competition, although I feel Lian Li has a much less intrusive low profile slide connector. Anyhoo, gonna pick up the iCUE LINK H150i and a bunch of QX120s 👍

I am hoping they bring the icue link to their less expensive fans. Also, a 90 degree cable would be nice for the single rear fan. But other than that I love this system, its simple to set up and gets rid of all that dreaded cable management.

I have a lian li xo dynamic with 9 fans and I’ve got the three on the cooler working and the 6 on the other surfaces connected to each other. My question is how do I connect the 6 on the other surfaces because they only have two ports. If I connect them it doesn’t leave any open ports to connect to the main box. And I’ve tried going the other way and grouping three fans with the three fans on the aio cooler and it says it has reached maximum connections on the main. I think it’s because it counts the pump as a connection but that would still only make 7 so I’m confused. What am I doing wrong?

Are there any issues adding an additional set of Link fans to a 7000xRGB case which includes the pre-installed Commander XT? I would imagine that the two would be independent? If that is so is there any potential software conflicts running the pre-installed case fans off the Commander XT and the additional link fans off there own hub? Thx in advance!

@theprovokedprawn im going to buy this set up for my first build. so im going for the link h150i 360mm with the 3 set of qx120 fans but im incredibly confused with what i need to buy. you mention in this video aroud the 2 minute mark i will need a large cable that connects the control to the fans, is this included or will i need to buy seperately? also around the same 2 min mark you mention i will need a cable that requires power from the psu which then powers the controller. is this included or do i have to buy seperately? lastly, you mention at the same 2 min mark i will need a usb cable which connects to the motherboard. is this usb cable included or does this have to be purchased seperately. i know on amazon uk i can buy the 3 triple pack with also comes with extra 90 degree cables for £155.00 i am just curious if this is all i need to get my pc up and running

  • @gabrielgabriel9779

It's a big step forward but we are not there yet.
We need a joint effort to make the "connections" already at the case and a new plug in the motherboard that receive device ID, RGB, PWM and Tacometer and power out.
At the case one single plug would plug at this new mobo plug where we control fan RPM/profile, RGB lights, pump, etc at a software level.
System wide compatible with any fan/pump/etc using this new standard.
