Jones fracture process succes for me Day:1-13 pain and swelling Day: 13-24 pain and swelling reduces day: 24-29 no more pain. a little swelling day: 29-52 no swelling or pain day: 53 x rays reveal reunion and full weight bearing (non weight bearing 6 weeks) Foods i ate: Almonds, 4 capsules fishoil a day, vitamin d/b/c/k(importnant!!!, eggs, almond milk, tuna, protein shakes, mackerel, rye bread, greens, bellpeppers, apples, and bananas. training: Gym weightlifting - but no exercises that put pressure on foot.
Hey Thomas, i suffered a fifth metatarsal fracture on 6/30/2022. I feel like i have been recovering well. The dr at the urgent care advised that i should be healed arund tge six week mark. They put something that looked like a cast but on the fourth day i had to take it out like at 3am while sleeping because i felt like there was no bloodflow groing through the foot and it hurt like hell. A week passed and i started using a cam walker. And after 2 and a half weeks i was able to walk with it while only putting pressure on my talon. When you said non weight bearing for 6 weeks did you mean you did not place your foot on the ground for 6 weeks straight? Im afraid this could be a factor on stretching my healing process now.
I’m on 7th week now. Little swelling but dr has advised me to do physical exercises for mobility of the ankle. Xray shows almost the same as the one which we took at the time of fracture but the dr said its healing. Hopefully it l will be able to walk after 1-2 weeks
I was playing soccer and i rolled on my ankle. I stopped playing for two weeks because the zone one of the 5th metatarsal hurts when i walk without shoes. can this be a possible avulsion fracture?
Have been researching this; personal experience with it. I've either pulled, strained or ripped the peroneus brevis tendon or have a stress fracture of the Proximal Fifth Metatarsal (pain centered around the proximal metaphyseal - diaphyseal junction). Question - the pain is intermittent (worse at night) and has lasted for last 3-5 days. I'm not an athlete but have a knee injury that has changed my gait and I suspect that's the cause. Which problem is intermittent pain a sign of?
I am a new orthopedic PA and these vids are so helpful, so thank you!
@Tebraheim thanks

" weight bearing as tolerated with hard - sole shoe" please give more details.
@tbialecki1 thanks

How ironic would it be if Jon Bones Jones had a Jones fracture. From the picture it looks like his broken toe would be considered a stress fracture.

Hi can you tell me how yours worked out? Did you need surgery? I have appointment to Dr on Friday
Very informative.

Zone 2 can’t believe it
Nyc
Excellent material, but the audio drives you out of the word (awful).
SORRY
Hmmm, zone one avulsion I think. Not happy though. No.
Im zone 3... :( It sucks bad
Crutches, crutches, crutches. Healing twice as fast as suggested. Sucks though
i was told that some weight bearing was better as it helped it to heal faster
Haha I just got a zone 2 yesterday. It HURT.
"there are only 3 types at the fifth metatarsal"
My shattered foot disagrees with you...
Why you disagree with me?
Zone frickin 2
Shit. I think I have this.
Sounds like she's using a walkie talkie.
