When it came out, this movie showed me one thing: How absolutely liberatingly wonderful it is to just ride your bike, have fun and go explore what's out there. It reminded me what it's like to be a five-year-old boy again, getting wild in the forest. I'm gonna be thirty-two next month and this is what has kept me young in my head.
I must have seen this movie dozens of times, it's old but still one of the best bike films and sort of paved the way to so many other great riding films and a super soundtrack. Just looking at the rigs they ride makes you smile... remember this frame? and so on. Sadly Jordie and Stevie no longer ride with, they are riding the great range in the sky but they still inspire other riders to follow them. so cool
I fuckin love the old skool guys that started it all, no bullshit wheelsize talk, no dumb tyre pressure chat, just find it, Huck it or ride it, just pure class!
Heavy riding nostalgia here. Awesome vid. Someone needs to do a retrospective on the history of mountain bike filmmaking. As a previous owner of many a broken swing arm, it’s amazing that Vanderham’s RM survived a single shot in the e opening segment! Those things snapped all the time.
Absolutely love this video - so inspiring. Thank you for my new favorite song - at 30:50 - Sunday Jen by Slackstring - I loved it after hearing it one time. You can tell these guys had such a blast doing this!
this movie man...thanks so much. I gave my copy away to a bike shop in petawawa ontario so they could play it for customers and it just stopped working. hunter and romo segments were my religion and got me out of rap into rise against. Still live to dig trails and shred.
one of my favorite duo scenes with Steve Rominuk and Matt Hunter... Watched this on repeat when i was 4 years old all the time... No baby einstien for me just NWD films and other old mtb movies...
35:40 I was thinking about this shot the other day. doing something like this would be so much easier now... instead of a crew with a huge zipline rig and big ol camera you can just use a drone...
@@Narayan_Patki if I'm not mistaken, a cablecam is a lot smaller and remotely controlled, comparable to a drone. I'm talking about having the operator physically riding a zipline while holding a camera rig as was done here
cristian flore e.g. slackstring - sunday jen at 31:00 - this Movie was my goddamn childhood, my dad showed it to me when I was maybe 6-7 y.o 12 years ago Heard this song yesterday morning and it was on of the best flashbacks for a long time.. sorry for the short lifestory but damn dude this shit absolutely fire

Agreed.

One of the first MTB dvd's I bought and still one of the best. Bikes look pre historic now
I still have my 2003 Freeride bike, only retired it this year. Great rig, shame the parts are so hard to get for it now.

Or remaster this in 4K, would look even more incredible especially since they are using 70mm cam

Loved this when it came out. I'm still rubbish off-road! :D Thanks for the upload!
I have this on dvd. Have not watched it in years .. ah memories
This feels like so long ago because the sport has progressed so much.
Ryan leech was so ahead of his time
Some of his stuff is still unmatched today. Maybe by Danny but thats it.
Brings back great memories.
The best film of the mtb...
I love 00s freeride movies
My inspiration, my Masters!!! Uffffffff beatiful beatiful times!!! The best move!!!

the real freeride!!
Who needs a 4k remaster of this?
It was filmed on 8mm so it would be easy.
Old school freeride! Used to watch these bike movies with my friends before we ride. Hahahaha. Good ol times. 😁
Sometimes I get the impression that in basically every MTB movie for the last 20 years there is at least one Berrecloth-segment.
Believe it or not, it wasn’t always a things
Sweet Memories. God I miss my 16ies
Amazing show of skills .
Lembra uma surf trip... ❤️
Best movie ever...

they still use those zipline rigs (cablecam) a lot. drones are cool but for precise movement or to fly through trees a cable cam is better

@@henrym5908 ah yes I misunderstood.
