What are your thoughts? Are you planning on buying Sonic Origins and do you think it was right by Sega to remove so many of the other versions of the classic games?
Great options for way to play the older games. Still excited for Origins but I hope sega aren't complete clowns and give us some more extras but I won't hold my breath.
So many? There’s still physical copies of older collections out there, that and the only systems that lost versions were 360, PS3 & PC, Mobile versions still exist, there are at least 1 or more options to play Sonic’s 1 and 2 on the modern platforms, CD, is the biggest loss besides 3&K
Remind me, who are you paying monthly to upkeep whichever random servers all the various old ports of the exact same experience, if not worse, is on? Sega, or Steam, or PSN, or... Because no way in hell I'm paying any brick and mortar store to provide infinite FREE REPLACEMENTS of my physicals, and I certainly wouldn't call losing that option a "removal". It would be LOWERING going from WAY over and beyond the requirement, to just common sense average service. No way in hell, am I going to DEMAND they divert resources from MY benefit, just to offer OTHER NEW CUSTOMERS the ABILITY to go to that specific old server to download that inferior version and expect infinite replacements for THAT, especially for LOWER COST from THEM. Get the brand spanking new one that actually DOES keep digging into money coming from MY recent purchases.

I tried to do my research before the video and I couldn't find that Sonig Gems Collection Plus included all for games, "only" Sonic 2 and Sonic CD but please correct me if I'm wrong. I didn't know about Sonic Jam though so thank you for bringing that game to my attention! However, it didn't seem to include Sonic CD :) I knew about Sonic Mega Collection on Steam but I looked at it as a package deal for several stand-alone games. I'm always open to correct myself in my videos so thanks a lot for your comment!
Hey Coming Clean, have you thought about buying Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart while it's on sale? I just wanted to give you a heads up that the sale won't last for much longer (I think it ends tomorrow on the 9th at like 3am ish), so if you haven't already, I highly recommend getting the game while it's still on sale before it's too late! (Provided you're able to afford it of course) Trust me, it's worth it.
Your advice actually tipped the scale towards buying Rift Apart so I just did it alongside some other items off the sale. Thanks a lot for the heads-up!

The most modern way you can play 3 & Knuckles as of right now is Classic Collection for DS, if you have any consoles in that family and a copy of that game (which also comes with 1, 2, Knux in 2, and 3 and Knuckles separately), you can play it Weird that Classic Collection let you play Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles separately but Origins, the follow-up, doesn’t
that's because it's a rom being emulated wheras in 3K, it's entirely a new port made in whiteheads retroengine by Stealth (headcannon). also it wasn't classic collection, it's actually the sega genesis classics line on steam which lets you buy sonic 3 and knuckles for 5 dollars to emulate, and use the rom in any emulator you want so you can make your own romhacks to put on the steam workshop
My thoughts I buyed pre order for Standard and Digital deluxe version (Norwegian country of the game the release date Sonic Origins is 21 June) And I don't think it's right to delete all old classic games. Sonic 1 will have Special Stage 7 and Custom stage. (Super Sonic appeared in Sonic 1 in the trailer so yeah the unused Special Stage will be in the game now) Sonic 2 will have Hidden Palace and maybe the unused zones and Special stage 8. Sonic CD will have Desert Dazzle because it was never out but was a secret also the final fever zone might aswell be out. Sonic 3 & Knuckles the Special stage 8 will be out in Sonic Origins for sure and old copyrighted songs will be a game just for the pre order pack. That's what I think what the game will have so it makes the remaster ones even more remastered but that's my theory.

Are they really ports tho? Ports meaning they reused data (graphics and music and the like) but rewrote the code in a new programing language. Im quite sure that they emulate the hardware and reuse the the original roms. Modern vintage gamers has a lot of videos on this subject in general

Sega is so lazy they did nothing but slap the mobile ports with little changes and call it, new.
