I believe he is notating Amaj7 as AM7 (with a capital “M” instead of lowercase “m”) to differentiation between Major and Minor…so you’re both right. 👍

DM7 is Dmaj7, if it were a minor the "M" would be "m" hence Dm7(Dminor7). Since its a major its DM7 which is still the same as Dmaj7
