My 02 Disco 2 TD5 just had it's first overheating issue. I caught it right away and shut it off to cool down. No coolant loss. It appears to be just a stuck thermostat as running the heater at max hot kept the temp down. I've just changed the bottom elbow, thermostat, top hose and am waiting for the the two short hoses that go off the thermostat so I can replace them too. I have a new water pump coming (I'm in NZ) but will hold off changing it at present. Gonna flush the rad and engine then put her back together and see how she goes. Mine has over 236,000 miles on her and still going strong! (fingers crossed lol). Love your videos mate, keep em coming! Your video on changing the viscous fan bearing was ACE! Made the job easy for me. Cheers.
Another great video, I have done this job (should have made a video about it really at the time) and for anyone that doesn't want to remove any of the oily bits e.g filter/housing etc you can remove the bracket below the air conditioning compressor and access is really good only a few bolts, it will give you a chance to clean mating surfaces as coolant line runs through it from above and inspect everything then putting it back together is easy enough only thing is you may lose some coolant nut if you're doing the water pump may as well have new coolant in the system and bleed all the air. I would probably change the hose that goes from the top of the radiator to the block as they are prone to failing where the bleed screw is, and ours actually broke inside the thread when trying to bleed it old brittle plastic issue and remember pipes can always be heated up a little with a hot air gun to make getting them on and off a bit easier hope that helps.
5.00pm Sunday always look forward to it just in the middle of sorting mine out looking forward to getting out on some lanes great content guys best on RUclips
Mate how’s it been I’m having the exact same issue changed the rad thermo and still that top pipe feels a little hard loosing no coolant and heaters are bang on nice and warm and isn’t over heating or going above half way on temp gauge
I'm having this same problem !!!! Changed thermostat and water pump and new top hose and radiator (was leaking) and I'm still losing water but no signs of any leaks it's driving me mad!!!! Think mine looking like HG gone 😔
Why fit second hand parts and not fill with antifreeze? I am totally baffled. I have a leaking pump and a new one from Britpart is under £30. The thermostat is under £20. Given that this is a mare of a job, surely spending £50 on new parts makes sense in order to avoid doing it all again.
Every thing is a pain in the ass, don't understand why make so over complicated it doesn't have to be,it's access in most cases it's really not had any thought put into to future maintenance and making it easy to repair or maintain

Love the videos can’t wait to watch
Thanks for the support 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I have a disco 2 v8. I find the v8 models easier to work on. Nice video though. Very informative
The rad look like it has seen better’s day Graham
It is due for replacement 👌🏻
The heater matrix will also have frozen ice in, ideally need to leave in workshop to defrost naturally
true and you can get trapped air in there too i think after replacing coolant

Engine ended up get swapped 😳 we haven’t autopsied the old engine yet… maybe we’ll do a video stripping it 👀
@@4WDUKdid you end up finding out what was wrong with the engine?
What's the best make of water pump to use I need to replace mine aswell
Genuine would be best, Connor has used proflow and not had issues 👌🏻

Never a good sign 😞
I had the same issue frozen water pump key broken off causing the water pump not so spin, new pump and pukka
Guilty of no antifreeze too? 🙈😅
I've heard a few people fit freelander 1 thermostat as it opens at a lower temperature apparently.
Yeah, quite a common mod and works well 👌🏻😁
Do a oil filter relocation kit on it to make it easier to change well worth it done it on a few cars 👍
Not a bad idea👌🏻 something for us to look into 💪🏻
Happy new year guys 🎉
Watching this video makes me realise why I’m back to 300tdi landrovers 😅
So easy to work on
So did the stat fix it??
Thanks you bud 💪🏻 you’ll just have to wait and see 😏
plastic dowels break, headgasket ?
We haven’t checked yet 😳

Because it was a Sunday and no suppliers open. Pump was a good pump that we had on a spare engine.
Good used is probably better than £30 britpart 😂
Looks like your really local to me 🏴
Possibly 👌🏻
Love the videos but was it just me or was the video lagging? I watch it on my phone and TV both the same
Definitely not just you pal reminds me of 24fps if not even lower
Seems RUclips has had a wobble, the original upload file is fine but on RUclips it’s terrible. Sorry about that guys 😞
No antifreeze 😮🥶
Nope 😂😂😂
Looks like a radiator is due also
Can you switch on captions please
Gibby in OZ
They should be on already bud
There working now thanks new sub
