      @@docrodebaugh thanks Doc, it’s nice when the hard labor equals good results. Mother Nature doesn’t alway solve that equation the way you want. 😂

    Your set up is very professional. I’m growing a Big Max pumpkin and the giant pumpkin world is still pretty new to me. Do you use synthetic nutrients? NPK? How often? Yours are dwarfing mine lol

    You are doing a great job. When you move the big ones forward I understand getting them free from the side vines but I don't understand how the main vine moves forward without breaking.

    • @dawson_acres
      @dawson_acres  6 месяцев назад +1

      @@giantsquash usually you have the vine trained in a kind of “S” shape so you’re just relieving the kink in the “S”. The one in this video is more of a straight line so it’s slightly different. Easier to draw than put into words. Easiest way of thinking about it is the pumpkin expands in all directions equally. And when it expands back towards the vine you have to relieve it.

    Can I ask what you bury your vines with? Do you add anything when you bury?

    • @dawson_acres
      @dawson_acres  5 месяцев назад

      @@karrielandis3955 I buy a basic soil mix from my local soil yard. I sprinkle azospirillum and mycorrhizal fungi on the root nodes and then bury with the soil mix.

    Why do people cover up the pumpkins ?

    • @dawson_acres
      @dawson_acres  6 месяцев назад

      @@XRyanlightning it’s just to protect them from the sun which matures the skin faster which can prevent expansion. Also it’s a first layer of protection from birds, animals, etc.
