Road trip to BIG speckled trout!

- A full 320 years ago, when famed explorer Pierre Le Moyne d’Iberville was searching for the mouth of the Mississippi River, his quest was hindered by a 50-mile-long speed bump of shell and sand that ran north-south in the open Gulf of Mexico.
Iberville made a brief stop, and christened the island chain on the eve of Fete de la Chandeleur, a Christian feast day.
And so the Chandeleur Island chain became known to the West.
Though it’s been beaten and bruised by hellish storms and natural subsidence since then, the chain is still emergent today, and functions as a piscatorial meat market for speckled trout looking to hook up and feast during the annual summer spawn.
The islands are close to nowhere, and because of that, they receive little fishing pressure, when compared to more inland hotspots. Anglers who make the long run from Southeast Louisiana or Southern Mississippi almost always have their pick of spots, and don’t have to constantly glance over their shoulders for potlickers looking to capitalize on their labor.
That’s especially true for fishermen who sleep out at the chain aboard the Chandeleur Islander (www.chandeleur-islander.com), a jack-up barge positioned at ground zero of the hottest action.
For Capt. Justin Bowles (www.jbfishingcharters.com), Kevin Ford, Gem Ceasar and me, the Islander served as our home one night last week as we set out for hot wade fishing action. It was an amazing experience.

instablaster.
Love how you and Kevin rip into each other. Funny stuff man
Love your videos, Todd! Just wish y’all had the flounder that we our blessed with in Big Lake. Your show is very entertaining!
That one place I've been wanting to go since I was a kid, gotta get there soon...
Wait until you see part II. You'll be adding it to your calendar
Nice Job Gentlemen enjoyed the video!
He’s not that big Kevin lol he sure seemed upset about that 😂😂 love your videos man!
Top water, the way real men fish, LOL !!! Catching fish and running smack on your buddies.
Great video and an awesome day. Looking forward to part 2.
I recently bought the same stringer and clip, Love them. Wade fishing is a blast no matter where you go.
Another great video Todd!
Happy birthday bud! Good fishing love your videos!
Looks like an awesome trip. Tight lines!

I take two trips down there a year I love that place! Epic fishing every time!!
Man I’ve been meaning to tell ya Todd. I am in love with the Matrix Shad thanks to you. Been killing them down here in south Texas on the Shrimp creole!! Can’t thank u enough. Awesome thing is that I’m not just pounding the trout but reds, flounder, and good eating size black drum as well. Thanks again brother. Keep up the great work.
It's definitely my go-to. Try the holy joely when the water's super clear. It's deadly
I definitely will I have it in my tackle bag. I also like the lemon head in dirty water and I dip the tails white. 🤙🏽👍🏼
Awesome video!! Caught a limit of speckled trout last week out of Delacroix.
I've always wanted to go there and happy birthday boss
Great Vid Bud
Water looks great 👍
Another great video! Can’t wait to watch part two. I had to google Craig Carson - dang!
Happy Birthday Todd. I dream about going there one day. I wonder if my 21 ft. Frontier would be enough boat for that run. Great video
On the right day, it might
Glad to see I’m not the only guy that uses freshwater crank baits to catch specs😅
A little too far out of the way for myself being here in South Texas. You should make a trip down here and try Baffin Bay. Good chance to get yourself a 30+ incher trout. Thanks for including us on your trip to Chandler Islands
The marsh was calling my name last night around 10pm when the scattered storms started to dissipate with the cooling evening temps in Matagorda. I took my kayak to the marsh and bucked a 15-25mph wind staying in a fairly protected slough. About 2 am, I hooked my best trout of the year. I landed and released a 26 inch spec on a black top dog on a strong outgoing tide. One more inch and I would have thought about entering it into the Starr. Similar conditions tonight, with about 4 hours of very strong falling tide. I will be watching the radar.
Happy birthday
Chandeleur/freemason are my two favorite places on earth to fish. Im there about once a week at least haha.
Nice Day on the water
He likes his matrix shad.
I've read Todd for years, watched Kevin for just as many and I've never felt so uncomfortable watching a fishing video. It's like all 3 want to drown themselves or the next guy.
I made a trip out there recently and enjoyed it except for what was at least 75 small tender boats from the Mississippi mother ships were EVERYWHERE. I was really surprised how many there actually were. Mississippi fisherman really hammer that part of the Chandelier Sound. I hate to see it so commercialized.
Kinda what I was wondering about (those mother ship trips). We’re supposed to be going out there on a trip in May. Hoping for good weather and a good time.
Enjoyed the video Todd but i knoe Kevin is going to have too do alot of editing lol 👍
Next time u head over to Pass Christian give me a call. My hometown.
The last time I heard “dude I’m not gonna hit you I promise” was on a guided trip in Venice and as soon as my buddies dad said that there was a hook in his arm on the next cast
Florida gulf coast, haven’t caught a 5# much less 6#. But it’s early, I’ve only been lookin 40 years.
Hey buddy. Where was that spot you stopped at before chandelier? Roughly how much fuel was burned?
Hey Todd, what’s that yellow rod and reel justin was using?
You mean Kevin? I think it was an Enigma
KF so sensitive. 🎣
So what action rod do you use with top water lures?
ruclips.net/video/xQs-qDF51GY/видео.html
What is the name of the video that shows you catching the 6 pounder? Thanks!

Hi
What siez of jighed u use and siez of the metrix shad
Standard Matrix on 1/4-ounce Deathgrip Jighead
Why are you against using live shrimp?
I'm not against it. I just don't personally enjoy it
Does Justin run trips out there.
Not as a matter of practice, but I'm sure he'd be willing to under the right circumstances. Give him a call at 985-969-2036
What happens if you launch out of Mississippi, fish in Louisiana waters, then get stopled by Mississippi Wildlife Dept and have fish that are legal size in Louisiana but not in Mississppi?
As long as you don't stop to fish in Mississippi, you're good.
@@MarshManMasson I spoke to the Marine Resources folks and they told me that as long as you don't stop. Doesn't matter if you are stopping to fish or something else. They say if you have any type of trouble and have to stop, you better call them and they will log it so the patrols won't give you a ticket if they come by.
Y’all Louisiana fisherman be freaking out about a 3 lb trout smh.
Everything's relative, bro. What size trout would you freak out about?
Marsh Man Masson 8+
Well, Craig Carson would shake his head at you. If you don't know who that is without googling, you may not be the trout stud you think you are. Cheers!
Y’all sound like grumpy old men fishing nice video maybe less talking and more fishing
