【EngSub】The Most Interesting Tutor of Tsinghua, a Genius who Could Speak 33 Dialects 清華最好玩的導師會說33種方言

Among all the great masters living in the Republican period, Mr. Zhao Yuanren was a special one. As a genius of languages, he could speak 33 Chinese dialect and several foreign languages such as English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish. He was appraised as “the Father of Language in China” because of his remarkable achievements in language research. He was known as a interdisciplinary talent. He received a undergraduate degree of math from Cornell and graduated from Harvard with a PhD. He took a large number of pictures through his life, and the pictures become important materials to research the master and related history. Huang Jialin, the grandson of Mr. Zhao Yuanren, gave Yit an interview and introduced the life of his grandfather.
在群星璀璨的民國大師里，趙元任先生也是特別的存在。他是語言奇才，會講33種中國方言，還掌握了英、法、德、日、西班牙多國語言，因為在語言學方面的卓越成就，被稱為「中國語言之父」。他以跨學科的天才著稱，本科在康奈爾大學學習數學，又以哲學博士的學位從哈佛大學畢業。在他一生流徙的經歷中，他悉心保留下來了大量照片，成為了解這位大師、了解歷史的重要素材。一条專訪了趙元任的外孫黃家林，和他聊了聊外公的一生。
