Building a stone arch bridge in O-scale

  • In this video, I build a model of a stone arch bridge for a client who works in O-scale. The bridge was slightly complicated by being on a yard throat in an area crammed between other features. Furthermore, the roadbed was already installed and the bridge had to slide in through a space lower than the overall bridge height - this necessitating building it with removable piers.
There were a couple of false starts with the project due to a learning curve with a product I'd not used before. Fortunately I'd taken the precaution of buying a few extra pieces so the mistakes did not cause any unnecessary delay.

Beautiful, I had no idea that it would involve such level of detail.

Hi Peter, You have done a superb job of the bridge, it would be nice to see it in its place on the layout it was made for. Great Step-By-Step coverage of all the production stages, which was very educational. 👍Thumbs Up👍

Great build Peter. Oh to have the luxury of space to be able to model and build in O-Scale.

Peter, Fantastic job. You go for realism, as close as I a possible.
    And perfection. I like that
    Thanks for sharing.
U must have a separate work studio away from your home. Either that or that is just the other side of your home where we've never seen.
I've been giving great thought of going to SM32 Battery power RC.
Yes 1/19 Scale. I am weighing the pros and cons. And my Scratch building experience. ( A thimble full. If that )
Cherry-O carry on and take care.

I believe you solution of cutting the arch material was appropriate under the circumstances and actually looks symmetrical to the rest of the tunnel. The handrails @ $65..ouch!!!

Beautiful work. It seems that the flexible stone sheets are no longer available at Woodland, at least not in O scale. Too bad.

Putting damp paper towel over DAS while it sets helps with minimizing shrinkage

This project was done just before I moved (you can see stacks of boxes in the background in some clips). I've only moved once recently, and don't plan on ever moving again.

you would think O scale would be a easy build. just the size makes it easy.
but in saying that , the size of it would bring out more details. so like good in one way and then, not so good in the other .

Beaux loisirs. Mais la priorité serait plutôt de rattacher votre prise sur le mur. Pour la sécurité ce serait mieux. Sans rancune salut.
