  • This is the first song of the record "Sailing the Seas Depends on the Helmsman - Ten Revolutionary Songs of China", on which all songs were from China, but sung in English. The record is from 1967, during the Cultural Revolution. I found it so strange that I bought it - and seeing how only one song from the record (Sailing the Seas Depends on the Helmsman) is online - I thought I might as well upload this one also.
    Information:
Name of song: "The East is Red"
Performed by: Shanghai Vocal Choir, accompanied with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra
    Date released: 1967
    Manufactured by: China Record Company
Distributed by: Guozi Shudian, China Publications Centre (Peking)

THIS IS A LOWER-QUALITY OLDER UPLOAD. I have acquired a record player which can output audio to a PC since I posted this video, and now (finally) the whole album has been recorded in a passable level of quality.

Comrade, can you help me find Leningrad and Stalingrad? I can’t seem to find them on the map….
No more, no more! The white bandits and capitalists rode over our heads once more. But! If you want to follow the red star, head to the east! Cross the Dnieper river and climb over the Urals and there at the end of the Siberian tundra you will find a red star which still has a spark

      Part 2
Comrade, I have ventured to the place you have described. I must report that it is no longer a spark but a prairie fire! I think this is China.
I believe that one day it will cross the Himalayas and over the Dnieper. The red star will never be snuffed out. It is in Moscow, Bali, and Beijing. It is in the wrinkles of the farmer and in the bright eyes of teenagers!
The old alliance of steel was broken but a spark floated to the east! There, with the help of the people, they constructed a solid barrier and a steel army. They await for the red sun to illuminate the whole world!
