Now I can tell my mom what to do when we loose visibility in the clouds. My eyes seem to be much better and I'm good at feeling the ski, damping out any bumps and reacting to unexpected changes in the snow, but she gets really scared which hurts her otherwise excellent carving technique. She slows down a lot, leans back too much and just doesn't have a good time fumbling her way down the slope. Who knew that Skiing very slow can be so much harder and exhausting. This however is slow, narrow, nice and controlled so she can follow me. Such good advice!
Excellent video - top class coaching. Thank you. It's good to see good old leg/foot rotation / pivoting still lives! Too many instructors are obsessed with carving edges only. Looking forward to more.
Thank you so much! These videos in the Technique Series are excellent! My instructor recently had me practice this, and your clear explanations and great camera work really bring the technique home.
great video. i needed this. i have been struggling on steeps with chopped powder. my pole plant and over steering of my turn has been a problem. thank you!
The conditions I faced today where, steep hill, ungroomed, frozen on top, and with small moguls, how would you adapt this technique sir? BTW I love your videos. Super useful.
Absolutely! There are plenty of ways to create the lateral movement that eventually ends with an edge change. This could come from a more pressured based approach or an unweighted movement.
Very impressed! - ski instruction which recognizes that 'there is more than one way to skin a cat' - too many instructors just push their favourite (or only!) method.
That pole plant behind the binding is something no one teaches!!! Prime 🥩
This is exactly what I was looking for and it's perfectly outlined and explained.
Thank you so much. Brilliant series.
My gosh this is good!! Great instruction, top-notch video. Very professional. Much appreciated; thank you for posting!
Super helpful thank you. I have been carving turns on steeps and go shooting across the hill. This looks like a great tool. Thanks!

Hi @cheytay32 we hope the training and practice is going well?
Excellent video. Practicing it tomorrow in Laax.

Check out his video about skidded turns, that'll show you.
your soundtrack rocks:))
I’m late to the party here. But this is truly an excellent demo. Thanks !
edging is what creates braking, once you pivot what stopps you from spinning around backwards?
Great tips! Thank you.
Yeah that’s like tenderfoot slopes, I was on challenge mountain for the first time I’ve ever skied in my life
Love this series... keep it up!
Thanks @jjm31usa There will be more coaching content on it's way over the winter!
Could you use a down-unweighted movement pattern instead of moving the hips down the fall line?
Absolutely! There are plenty of ways to create the lateral movement that eventually ends with an edge change. This could come from a more pressured based approach or an unweighted movement.
cool, thanks! :)

I don't know, it really depends what level instructor they are. I doubt anyone with an ISIA stamp will push only their favourite method...
Fair comment - hire quality - get quality.
It works best with Sharp edges
Thank you so much! Let me practice this and I will try a couloir!
what is the ski the instructor is using?
Volkl probably all mountain 100 mm underfoot
hard to do on lumpy powder
Gr8
On an even steeper slope, you can do a bicycle turn.
