I have been looking into doing this part-time since I'm a full-time student and I no longer want to bartend to get myself through school.       Any pointers? I’ve been studying fines, the probate codes and taking free practice tests. After a while it’s all the same questions. I’m in California too

      Awesome You will pass my biggest advice is to honestly continue taking different practice quizzes and study the CA notary booklet the questions are extremely tricky

    $30 an hour for mentorship is extremely fair . People are charging 200 for less. Good for you not robbing people !

      because I just started a few months ago, I'm charging what I think is fare. I've been successful since starting but again I don't think it's far to overcharge when I' haven't even hit 6 months yet. I do plan on charging maybe $50 soon because my time is very valuable. I've barely had time off since I started. Thank you, I'm trying to be as helpful on a budget as possible. :)

    When you talked about asking for more money from the signing agencies in another video, my mind was blown. Never even crossed my mind, I just thought that if I wanted more money, I needed to go direct. So that was extremely helpful. When you do reach out to escrow officers, please share verbatim. I think most people get nervous about pitching themselves. Thank you.

    Making 5k 8k 10k every month sounds awesome but how much of that are you actually making? With gas, printing , car maintenance. Thanks u and Congrats on your business 👍

      I’d assume maintenance shouldn’t be too bad outside of regular oil changes especially for you have a reliable Toyota or Honda gas definitely can easily see that being 50+ a week paper could easily be 50+ a week depending on you’re volume I’d just assume business expenses are somewhere between 500-1000$ a month

    I usually don't accept anything lower than $125 around my area. $150, I wouldn't mind traveling 30 mins or more. Rarely get anything over $200 from signing services.

    Hi Amanda! I have scheduled my Notary commission state exam in March. I am also in LA county and yes girl its crazy expensive compared to Austin Tx. I can’t wait to be my own business.

      You'll pass the exam easy! That's what I'm saying. You might be able to get away with cheaper fees in TX. I can't wait for you to flourish!

      I filed my business as a corporation. My financial situation lead me to that decision. That might be different for others. Not yet, it’s so difficult but I do have a signing with one tomorrow. So I’ll get his business card and I can probably get help from him. :)

    Can you do a video on rates and how to set your prices and fees to increase by for example if a signing gets moved a farther distance, if you have to reprint docs etc.

    Why would you change your business?
    Do you need to change it if you use title companies.

      No, I have to change my W9 for all the companies I have worked with. I never had a business to begin with, I was always independent (W9). Now that I'll have a business I need to change my tax information with all the companies I worked with. That's why I'm waiting to work with Title companies bc if I gave them a W9 I'd have to change it immediately as soon as my business is legit.

    What are you referring to about when you say file for your business? Did you not get your business license before your notary and just operating on your notary? Can you clarify this please

    Hi I'm trying to decide what course to take as additional education to become a signing agent. So I'm trying to decide between the loan signing system and also the NNA course which appeals to me if you are able to get business from title companies from taking their course.
    Did you also take a training course from the NNA? I looking at their program and they said that if you took the course that they would list you on the signingagent.com which will link you to title companies. did you find that was of any benefits for you to get any leads from title companies?
    NNA: Get a listing on SigningAgent.com - the place title companies and signing services look for qualified NSAs

      I feel like when I went through the NNA I didn’t get business simply for taking my course through them.
      At the end of the day you’ll have to put yourself out there for business.
      I personally preferred marks course but I’m also NNA certified.

    So I’m Waiting on background check to go through to become a notary. Now I know what I have to do next but I feel like I know nothing about loan documents, how to explain them to the signer, etc. I’ve been trying to look online for something that goes through each type of document and explains them and teaches how to present them to the signers but no luck. Is this something that is shown in the Mark Wills program? I want to buy the program but am not sure yet because of mixed reviews I’ve seen. Or how did you learn these things?

      I learned everything that I needed to learn through his course. I can explain every document. There were a few I didn’t know from taking his course but those were state specific and i believe he doesn’t teach those bc he’d have to do every state.
      I would shop around and see which one fits your learning style.
      Tbh now I’m able to explain each document bc I’ve done so many. At first, even after learning it still took me a few signings to comfortably explain every thing.

    Thanks so much for the content. I'm in the Bay Area and just received my Commission a few days ago. I'm processing my paperwork with my county as we speak. Just wondering what you mean when you speak about filing your business? Are you talking about a business license, fictitious name, LLC etc? I want don't want have to change all my info with signing companys; want to do it right the first time. Do tell.

      @@carolinapizano8125 Took my test Nov 14. Got an email notification that I passed Dec 9th. Only found out that I got my Commission Feb 5th because I got mail from companies trying to sell me notary supplies. The companies had my Commission Number on the paperwork...so I assumed I got it. The Commission packet just came last night on the 8th. It was a wait for sure.

      @@ljshono yeah it was backed up but it’s moving along swiftly now that the restrictions are a little more lax and the holidays are over so they’ll process commission a bit quicker

      Don't stress! You're just starting, I felt the same at the beginning too. Trust me you're just getting started. As soon as you've been working with signing services and they see that you're reliable you'll get more business.

    Hey Amanda any help/advise you can give on email pitch to escrow officers? I’ve reached out to a few different escrow companies and I always seem to get the same answer “we will save your info”.
