i was employed at fort laramie for 2 years in 2000- 2002. my title was laborer. the 2 years there reading about the history and the culture of the plains indians and the locals. I must say that 2 years changed my life!! I visit the fort every summer and imagine the life of the history of the immigrants and the indians who once lived there!!!
This was so well done. Bravo. I just went out there to video for my RUclips channel. And I am so excited to put my video together. I met some of these people that are in this video. And they were so informative and helpful. And I thank them for their hospitality. unfortunately a lot of the buildings were closed. Due to this dark time that we are going through. So I look forward to coming back. And actually be able to get inside the buildings. Keep up the great work. We're here watching you make amazing things going forward
I always enjoy this channel, and find it entertaining as well as educational. Having said that, this video was disappointing. I was hoping to see much more of the fort, and perhaps more of a physical overview of the grounds. Most of what the speakers were discussing might as well have taken place in a classroom or auditorium. Many of us are already familiar with the facts, dates, etc, but have not been fortunate enough to visit the actual sight. Perhaps showing actual footage instead of just focusing on the speaker's faces while they spoke. I do thank you for all of the interesting posts, energy and resources expended in providing us with this channel. Much appreciated!❤
I used to live five miles from the fort and went there many times. This program was not very well done. For example, Old Bedlam was originally the unmarried officers quarters, thus the name which she didn't know. The house at the head of the parade grounds was the commanding officers home. It wasn't even mentioned that the location is where the Laramie and North Platte rivers meet. They didn't even pan the grounds to show all the buildings. So much was overlooked in this video that could have been easily included, but was not.
this video is too boring too watch. I'm going here tomorrow. I went to old bella on a trip with my grandparents as a kid. I can't remember wtf it was then and I still don't know wth it is now. Can someone please tell me what this place is about in a couple sentences?
The United States never had any attention of keeping the Treaties they made with the Natives. They were nothing more than stall tactics until they no longer needed to stall. They were also ways effortless ways for the Indian agency and politicians to line their pockets with taxpayers' money. The Railroad was the cooperate power at the time running the Government and was the driving force behind getting people to immigrate to the US. There wasn't enough natural born Americans to populate the mid-west. So, a massive campaign was started to flood depressed areas of Europe with pamphlets about who great it was on the plains. The prospect of being landowners also motivated people to leave their homelands, because in their own countries the elites stagnated the economy by hoarding wealth and owning all the land. Since the Natives didn't produce anything for the Railroad to hail killing off the Bison and confining the Native population to Reservations would make resettlement of the Plains possible. Things were not all sunshine and roses for the immigrants come here either after they got here the Railroad didn't care. Many journals of the immigrant reflect deep empathy for the Natives, but they had their own problems just trying to adapt to a situation they were not prepared for. Most Natives don't have a problem with Americans and understand their ancestors came looking for a better life. The Government is a different story because in our eyes the Government is just a facade for cooperate and cooperate doesn't care about people it only care about profit.
Indians are from INDIA !!! why do we as Native People keep using that Foreign Term to reference who we are !!! We are Native People !! NATIVE INDEPENDENCE !!!

What was Crazy Horse saying? What would Crazy Horse say today?
All Lakota,Nakota and Dakota, and all treaty signer's, with in the treaty territory, should be subject to USA.
Not subject.
Show more of the surroundings while these two are narrating. No need to stare at their mugs the whole time.
Been to Fort Laramie twice. Learned a lot about the history of the post. This video is a total waste of time.
20% Navajo 80% European
When the United States government keeps its nose out of things, the better the outcome.
