Brasstown Bald is the highest point in Georgia at 4,784 feet and is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains and Chattahoochee National Forest of northern Georgia. This area is a place of legends, both old and new, with many stories of the land and the people who have called it home. Over the centuries Brasstown Bald has never quite been as noteworthy as some of its sister peaks but despite this it still manages to rise above them all and has a few stories of its own.

Cheers to that! The Peach State has a lot of natural treasures that should be preserved for the enjoyment of future generations.

Brasstown Bald is one of my favorite experiences at a high point. The museum and movie are very informative at the summit, and quite frankly I wish more states would take this approach. The day I went, there was not a cloud in the sky so the views were impressive. I definitely wasn't expecting all that when I visited.

The whole Georgia Blue Ridge is a treasure trove of natural beauty. Another place where I felt that I could whiled away days and still not seen it all.

I appreciate it Diane! The episodes we're doing now versus the ones from a few years ago are so different I have been seriously contemplating going back and redoing seasons 1 and 2. More on that in a few weeks when I give my 2019 State of the Series!

This was the first high test point I’ve ever climbed, I’ve also climbed Blood Mountain, and it was favorite hike out of both

I wish I would have had more time down there to hike up some of the other peaks in the area. I always thought Brasstown Bald would have been great to see in its bald heyday without any structures on top of it.

Thanks for another good one! Really appreciate the history and geology info. Wonder if the USFS might be interested in sponsoring some of this kind of content?

Very close to Port Jervis, New York. High Point State Park is just to the southeast of that.

@@RooftopsofAmerica I meant where is your video on High Point NJ? ...while were at it, Mr. Frissell, CT and Mt. Greylock, MA?

@@ECWnWWF Rooftops of America episodes are on hold for the time being due to the pandemic, hence the whole Rooftops of the Solar System series. Haven't been able to travel as extensively. I was going to try and get season 6 out as one unit but those plans have went sideways so it'll most likely come out piecemeal over the next few months.
