Hi there! About to setup my own Novsight on OBXT 24. But I noticed you did not mention how you wired it when skipping the harness. Could you write up a brief summary? Did you cut the harness and use the connectors? Or did you cut off the connector and wired straight to switch panel? Thanks - I have seen MOST of your videos. Good job!
I figure I have 5.5 years before I buy a loaded Wilderness (Outback) due to various things like my son just starting college and someone else needing another car before I get a new one...but until then, I have lots of time to research what I might want to do to my new Outback, so it's nice to see videos like this. I don't like waiting, but the good news it the Wilderness should only get better and better so by the time I get one, it'll have more standard features than the original release. For example the 2024 now comes with standard heated steering wheel and unless I'm reading it wrong, the Harmon Kardon sound system comes with the Wilderness too (2024). I hope that's right and continues because I was bummed that originally it wasn't even an option to add to the Wilderness.
Hey, you know what they say. Good things come to those who wait 👍 I usually don't get first year released cars but I needed a second car right away and if I'd liked the subaru (first one) I figured I could get the better version of the wilderness later as well. Good luck and hopefully yoir time will come sooner!
@@ChasingAdventuresCO Thanks. The Outback will be my first Subaru. I hadn't considered one until researching the WRX (2023) we just got for my son. For me and a future Outback purchase, I didn't want an underpowered car. I wanted something that was smaller than the full size truck I have now (I'll be keeping that since it's paid for and just use it for occasional 'truck stuff' like bringing something large home from the store, buying mulch, etc)...I wanted better MPG and I still wanted something capable (from the factory) to hit some sketchy dirt/gravel roads/travels you sometimes find in national parks or national forests. NO rock crawling or anything crazy, just simple things where I just need more clearance, some power and at least AWD. The Wilderness seems perfect for that. By the time I get my Outback in 5 years, I'll be 2 years from retirement at 61 and I'm going to be putting the miles on it! :)
P.S. I also saw your trailer hitch video. That's a lot of work, but doable. I'm asking the dealer if I order that WITH the car, will the factory install it so it's all done with no cutting needed (by me or the dealer). I really don't want the dealer to be cutting on my new car, but if they have to, they have to, you know. Anyway that's in the future but I'm hoping that's a factory installed option if you order it with the new car purchase.
@Hooked on Photography you can order it, but it's the dealer that installs it. And I've seen some horrible job so I did it myself. When you want things done right, you gotta do it yourself, you know what I mean?
Hey man, I noticed you have the Thule WingBar Edge rack system. Recent new OBW owner here and I'm considering buying the same system. Could you tell me how much usable bar space there is as you have it mounted? (i.e., the length of the exposed bar that is exposed outside of the foot pack)? I need it to carry two kayaks and need a certain minimum amount of separation between them to mount the two kayak carriers. Thanks!
Hey Jonneville, I am so sorry for the late reply. I've been super busy with a newborn and some other projects. The usable space is 31.5 inches, and I hope that helps again. sorry for the late reply.
@@ChasingAdventuresCO That was a quick reply, so thanks! haha. Sadly, I’ll need more space than that to carry my 2 kayaks. This is super helpful info to have so thanks again!

Hello. I used the included wiring harness, used the connectors and cut the wire to length and connected it to the gang switch.
@@ChasingAdventuresCO thx. Funny, just got the lights last night. Have not opened yet. Going to install it before going to Boxerfest in PA.
Enjoy them! Hope you are liking yours
I've done the calculations the math adds up
I'm glad you could do math.
Just came across your channel and it’s got me inspired with ideas for my new Outback. Nice videos!

@Hooked on Photography that is the same exact reason why I got the Outback. Came from Tacoma and those are gas guzzler... compared to the outback.
Have you had any battery issues with both positive cable being on the battery with your 6 gang switch?
It draws very little current so no issues at all.

@jonneville I see. In your case, you should go with a factory thule set up and should have enough space for two kayaks. 😉
