The first tip with the sky masking was invaluable. Thank you for spending the time to put this on RUclips.

Glad I could help. I would be glad to take any suggestions as to topics I could cover. I started doing this for our local photography club. But your interests could very well be theirs too. So speak up if something is confusing you. Mick

22 minutes well invested if someone is really interested in brushing upon the LR skills. This video has so far contained the best explanation of what the calibration section in LR does. Thank you for that. Very insightful and inspirational … Keep it up. Cheers …

Glad it was helpful! I hear people all the time talking about calibration and most times they have it all wrong. I will be producing a followup to this subject in the next month. Since LR has added a couple more masking tools for color correction, I thought I would revisit this subject to highlight the new features.

Thank you for all your advice on the Lightroom adjustments, especially the advice on masking. I particularly like your use of brushes to adjust specific colours in a picture. There is something very pleasing in the presentation of your advice to adjust our pictures, as opposed to some who appear to want us to copy their pictures in every detail.

You are so welcome! That is exactly what I was going for. Some good instruction followed by a demo to show you the ways you can use the techniques…not copy what you saw on a similar photo. Thanks for the comments.

Seeing how to use the masking more than trivial applications is really helpful. More would be appreciated. You are showing something new rather than just what is obvious. Thanks!

Will do! I just put up a new quick Sky Masking video showing how to use masking to refine the mask. Give it a look and let me know what you think.

Great video. I think your trick with the sky with the " invert" and "subtract" may help with the "halos" that show up in the image.

It's a start. You could probably try some luminance masking too. Or just pop over into Photoshop and use the ol' Select and Mask tool. But that is a whole other thing ?!?

Is it possible to copy and apply mask settings? I noticed that when you were doing the windmills, you used almost the same adjustments for the changes in each. Can you copy those adjustments and apply them to each windmill so that they are more uniform in the "look"? BTW, really do like your video. VERY helpful.

I know in Lightroom you can copy masks from one photo to another. But I don't believe you can copy a mask from area of the photo and apply it to an area on the same photo. You can duplicate a mask but it does not allow you to move it from the area of the original mask. I will have to research that. I will also check in Photoshop to see if that is possible. Just off the cuff I would save it is since Photoshop is more capable than Lightroom due to the use of layers.
