Once i gave a reading for a client which was incredibly dark. Each card was worse than the previous one. It was awful! I felt so bad for her and the people around her. A few months later I was reading at an event and she came to the event and brought her entire family, specifically to see me! She had a big smile on her face, reminded me about the previous reading, and joyfully sat down for another one (this one much more upbeat) and then her family members all got a reading. As hard as it is, I think I need to be peacefully with the concept that sometimes a person deeply needs to hear/see the challenges in their life. That I need to communicate the "dark" stuff, that is my role and reason for the reading. Tough to remember in the middle of one of "those" readings tho!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing this - i think it's important for us to remember that there is much value in communicating the challenges and that we aren't doing our clients a favour by sugarcoating things.
So true, when I get a reading done, I want the nitty gritty, not the light fluff. If I wanted fluff I wouldn't be paying for a reading, my imagination could take care of that
@@Lieselllll I think a lot of times people want a tarot reading because they have a problem they want to solve or a vague feeling that something needs to be fixed. So, you know... People seek out help because something needs to be fixed. And like doctor Phil says, you can't change what you don't acknowledge. :)
Oh yes! I totally agree on this, ppl need to hear everything spirit needs to tell them regardless of them being comfortable with it, the truth sets us free. But during the delivery my heart just flutters when i have to give negative or not so sweet messages
Tarot isn't all light and fluffy. I tell my clients right off. If your coming for all positivity this is not tarot. It's light, dark it's everything in life! I feel you didn't do anything wrong in this reading. And yes I agree about the future. Future changes. I tell my clients that also.
I don't know why people would think its all light and fluff anyway. I mean, every time you see a tarot reading in a movie or TV they scare the client with the death, devil or tower card and the 10 of swords. They *never * hear what they want to! And the psychic hotline commercials used to always say "he's cheating on you!"
I’ve read cards for years, so I’ve bumped into many different clients. Personally, idc if they’re dissatisfied or not. I do the best I can, and that’s all one can do. Sometimes they get mad because you don’t tell them what they want to hear. I’m not here to tell them their relationship is going to work out when I see it isn’t.
I'm a straight up reader. I'll lose you as a client before I change. Our problem is only the future can tell the truth. She will be back or go to another reader because of embarrassment.
Sweetie I honestly don't think you made any mistakes with your reading. Remember you are guided by the Angels to extract the cards and get the message across to the client. That's how it works and by the client coming with a mission to hear what she wanted to hear, is really not a case of your misinterpretation when she hears what she doesn't want to hear. You are a gentle warm soul with a kind heart and focus on that. Remember you can't please everyone in life. There will always be the challenges and challenges are good because they push in the right direction, to improve your personal growth. Everything is in duality and meant to be. Keep going Kate .. I think you are great. Elaine from South Africa
When reading cards, the future is very hard to read. It is very fluid. You may see an outcome based on present information & attitudes, but as soon as a client leaves the door, attitudes can change, decisions can be made that will change the outcome. I told clients that the cards reflect what's going on today & may change. If you couldn't get anything right about the past & present situation, then You may just not be able to read the person for whatever reason. They may be deceiving themselves as well or not acknowledging something
The future is only perception until it happens. What’s going on in the present will not be going on, let’s say two years from now! Those situations you see in tarot more than likely is within the future, not the present.
And one important thing I’ve learned. I decline readings when I am not in balance. I simply say” let’s plan a session after....so that I can be totally focused on you!” I’ve seen far too many healers in my world get physically and emotionally drained from the work not realizing it was because of their starting place that influenced both themselves and the end result of the session. I combine Reiki, readings and energy work at times for a full spectrum result for clients.
That's excellent advice, Patricia. I usually always decline readings when I'm feeling drained or distracted, too. You need to be in a good place energetically in order to do good readings I think, it's not like doing paperwork or vacuuming where it doesn't really matter!
Asking the querent to rephrase their question into something that would focus them on the present might have saved the reading. As a predictive-type reader myself, it's easy to be drawn into a querent's wish-confirmation mindset.
I think this is an important video for any tarot reader to watch. I am doing a reading for a friend later today and I am glad I watched this before hand
Hi Kate, i am a psychic medium. I think that you were honest. Honesty is better than saying the words that aren't true. If she was dissapointed, then she is not strong enough to handle the truth. There are different kinds of people, with different reactions. But that doesn't mean that you did something wrong. There are people who just can't handle the truth. Maybe your client knows now that the guy she was dating isn't right for her. She can do two things: she can say that you are a good an honest medium and she will come to you to say that. Or she can be in a denial, and not being able to handle the truth and ignore your honesty and your prediction of the truth. These people are continuous lying to themselves. A tip to make a reading colorful and nice: Maybe you can let the clients pull there own cards, after you did a reading for the client. Mostly they like doing that. Let them chuse a deck and let them shuffle their own cards after your reading. Then you also can explain their cards. My clients do like that. Please stay confident and believe in yourself!! xxx from the Netherlands
I have had this happen as well and although you always try to make it positive you have to work with the cards that come up. I try to leave the client with hope and know that nothing is written in stone but constantly flowing like water around the stone. Some people aren't looking for information but a go ahead with what they have already decided. Your readings are always so uplifting and helpful.
I don't pay attention to negative feedback unless it's constructive criticism. It's very easy to say what the client expects and keep them happy, and I agree that our job is to be honest with what we see, and that's what I tell them when I know I'm delivering something they don't want to hear. I find it very immature when a person asks a question but they're not ready nor open to hear anything other than the confirmation that they want, and unfortunately, this seems to happen a lot! When that's the case, there's nothing I can do about it, and I don't let it get to me. I don't give a refund beacuse they've paid for my time and I've done my part to the best of my ability. There's no satisfaction guaranteed because it depends on their perception and their judgement! Thanks for this video! 💗
Thanks for sharing your take on this topic :) I agree with everything you've said here - and I don't offer refunds either for the reason you describe. I once saw this written on a Tarot readers website: "tarot readings are free - I charge for my time" and I thought it was brilliant!
I have had a recent reading that was not so well received by the client. I didn’t quite understand her confusion or ambivalent reaction but I do now. She was not “ hearing “ what she wanted the answer to be to her query. It’s that expectation issue that might be applied before the reading ever takes place. And because of this client your learning experience became a teaching experience. Thanx Kate ! :) I did a reading for a good friend of mine recently and it did not come out the way she was hoping, she was in tears. I did explain to her that in her shuffling the cards her subconscious energy arranged them and I am merely the interpreter of the symbolism in the cards channeled from her higher self. ... ;)
That's a good way to explain it. I think many people take Tarot VERY seriously when they really shouldn't - the cards are more for exploration than giving definitive answers, in my opinion, but I think if the reading is about a heated topic then emotions run high.
Thanks Kate, your advice is always insightful. I regularly have persistent callers! who are unbelievably focused on their love interest, like no tomorrow! Especially one who's has someone working abroad, 'when is he returning?' 'will we work out?' Omg. Fortnightly she was coming back to me for updates. I got caught up in this future thing too. I think, like you said focus on the present moment is important and suggesting she focus on her self improvement, might be a way to get away from the future thing!
I was asked by a friend years ago to read his cards, and as soon as I looked at them 'I refused to read them out" as I saw all dark stuff, about numerous men ,law breaking, seemed to me dangerous things were going to come into his life and other people, lying and deceitful cards, then a few years later he killed his partner and it was all over the news media.I didn't even ask him at the beginning of reading if he wanted to ask a question ,I just got him to pull an certain amount of cards out of the deck.He wasn't paying me so saying 'no' didn't faze me.
I truly believe we create our own fate/future 💙 So i feel like if the answer is dissapointing in regards to wether the relationship would work out, i would focus on the answer of "what can be done to make the relationship work". totally agree on this topic, it happen to me also recently. First I do is checking the client energy, if they are low, they would not like the reading and Would be better not to do the reading becouse they will drain ur energy.

I find that when people react extremely negatively to something it's not just a fluke. If a reading gets an underwhelmed, confused or ambivalent reaction it may be a bad reading (skill wise) but if the person actively hates it, it's probably because the cards are showing the something they're desperate not to hear, something they've probably been told before. Sometimes people will go to tarot to confirm something they want to believe, despite being shown signs otherwise by life. In this case being told the same by the cards will cause extreme negative feelings.
Yes, I gave a reading once and I felt the person was really closed off. She said it did not resonate with her but I could tell it did- she was just not ready to admit it. It bothered me for a while but at the end I decided that I did the best I could and I honestly think I gave an accurate reading. But it is quite discouraging. Thanks
Yeah, that happens sometimes. It's hard to let it go when that happens, and it IS discouraging. But don't give up, I'm sure the next reading you give will be a different experience!
I do my readings for free. I did a reading today, it was all about lacking motivation to reach a goal and not using her partnerships or support systems to help her get to where she wants to be. She told me it didnt really resonate but she has felt unmotivated recently and too tired with lack of energy. Its so frustrating because this is what the reading said... So how can she say it didn't resonate? It is very off putting and disheartening when someone says the reading wasn't accurate and I sometimes feel people expect far too much from the cards
I find that the state of mind someone is in when they get a reading tends to influence their experience of it. If someone is feeling really unmotivated, it makes sense that nothing you could have said would be enough to spark something in them or "resonate". This isn't your fault and even though it's frustrating, there's nothing you can do about it. Just try not to let this get your down or put you off from reading the Tarot ♥
One way I might respond to something like this is to tell them that this is the way that things will happen if you continue in the same way that you are now. So it could be a suggestion that if they want things to work out they need to change something, e.g. their attitude. Then you could pull a few more cards to show what they need to change. So instead of a warning saying "this will go terribly" it could be a warning saying "you are doing something wrong and this is how the relationship will go if you don't fix it". That might help the reading to be a bit more productive and positive. Thank you for sharing your experience with us!
From the cards you got, i see that the message was for you! This client would produce an adverse reaction (tower), which caused you to regret reading for them ( of cups) leading to creating anxieties etc ( 9 of swords). Alternatively, the reading could read: this person may cause you to let go of long held beliefs or alter your mindset. There would be a need to abandon past hurts and not overthink what may or may not happen.
Hi Kate, it's so ironic this was in my feed and this happened to me today... The client wasn't mad but she did say she wasn't expecting what cane out and she was looking to see a very specific answer in the cards. She offered to pay again for me to ask specific questions... Thanks for the video it helped 👍🏽
I remember pulling the devil card for myself while practicing I freaked out and then realized it’s probably what I needed to hear although it was the garden of paths reading for myself when I’m in a better state of mind I’m going to try to do it again and see what comes out I’ll update in a few days :-)
i would like to begin readings. I guess I am afraid that I will interpret the cards wrong and they will have a hard time with it. Like if I get cards that look like they will have challenges with their work, and then they tell me something like "they dont work". Or I see trouble with your relationship with your spouse and they tell me they do not have a spouse.
Hi Kate,What happened on their date? im so curious to know.Did the reading come to pass? can you please keep us updated on what happens in their relationship if she decides to continue with him and not to heed the guidance of the tarot?
Hmmm. . . not heed the guidance of the tarot ? Maybe the tarot wasn't warning her but rather figures she's a lemon and this guy won't ask her for a second date. She set herself up for a disappointment asking this question so soon. I've only just started with tarot, I'm struggling with my own readings so I'm not reading for others but I think this request may have sent me running from the room screaming.
Oh gosh! Querents that refuse to engage with me. I ask them if there is a topic or concern and they fold their arms and say, "You're the psychic. You tell me!" 🤷🏽♀️
In the times that it has happened to me it's been in a party situation where the girlfriend drags their boyfriend to me to get a reading. Boyfriend is hostile but for every card I get right, the girlfriend is all, "See? SEE? I told you psychic are real!"
Once i gave a reading for a client which was incredibly dark. Each card was worse than the previous one. It was awful! I felt so bad for her and the people around her.
Ah yes! I've had readings like that before, too. Glad this video was timely for you :)
I remember pulling the devil card for myself while practicing I freaked out and then realized it’s probably what I needed to hear although it was the garden of paths reading for myself when I’m in a better state of mind I’m going to try to do it again and see what comes out I’ll update in a few days :-)
You are truly so generous.
amazing insights
i would like to begin readings. I guess I am afraid that I will interpret the cards wrong and they will have a hard time with it. Like if I get cards that look like they will have challenges with their work, and then they tell me something like "they dont work". Or I see trouble with your relationship with your spouse and they tell me they do not have a spouse.
Great advice. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Kate,What happened on their date? im so curious to know.Did the reading come to pass? can you please keep us updated on what happens in their relationship if she decides to continue with him and not to heed the guidance of the tarot?
I don't know what happened. I'm not in regular contact with this person, so I can't really say.
Hmmm. . . not heed the guidance of the tarot ? Maybe the tarot wasn't warning her but rather figures she's a lemon and this guy won't ask her for a second date. She set herself up for a disappointment asking this question so soon. I've only just started with tarot, I'm struggling with my own readings so I'm not reading for others but I think this request may have sent me running from the room screaming.
I want a reading from u I live in Vegas
I have not had someone disappointed in the reading but i had someone not respond from there reading.
I can't stand it when that happens! I always assumed they hated the reading!
Oh gosh! Querents that refuse to engage with me. I ask them if there is a topic or concern and they fold their arms and say, "You're the psychic. You tell me!" 🤷🏽♀️
That's so frustrating! Sometimes they're out to test you and prove you wrong, and I think it's just a waste of their money!
I can't believe people actually do this still! It seems so silly. No psychic is THAT good, lol.
In the times that it has happened to me it's been in a party situation where the girlfriend drags their boyfriend to me to get a reading. Boyfriend is hostile but for every card I get right, the girlfriend is all, "See? SEE? I told you psychic are real!"
then get a second opiniob
