- Hi, we are Harriet and Mauro and in February 2021 we bought an abandoned smallholding in Castellón, Spain. In these videos we share our life as we restore and improve our little stone house, learn to grow and preserve our own food, and bring our 4 acres of farmland back to productivity.

Just an idea, when my kids were tiny I pumped up an inflatable paddling pool in my building yard of a garden , I popped in toys and they played while I worked trying to finish my garden and build. Obviously without water...
LOL 😂 "Victorian R2D2" ... little bit of coffee escaped through my nose on that one, said so straight faced.... the next bout came at the forwarded bit before "Hi-Def Mauro"... 😂... Thanks for my nasal flush! 😅

You might want to invest in a solar oven . They are inexpensive. This must have been pre-surgery because I don't see a scar. I hope that you are doing much better. You all are always in my prayers.

This year I lisent to my French neighbour and trimmed of all tomato leaves, up to where they flower. Got more and bigger fruitformation then before

What are they like is it a sort of plum sorry I couldn’t understand what they were called ! Just re listened loquats I’ve never tried them
Loquat is called nispero in Spanish :) they are also known as Japanese plums
oh man, we have starlink for a year now (also working remote) and it was a struggle without it. Only problem is that with thunderstorms and harsh rains it sometimes bogs out. But it works like 99,99% of the time.
Don't see it as a problem, it's great to have an excuse not to work every once in a while.

I put up a magnetic screen door for my apartment in Guatemala. It's wonderful. It's very easy for my cat and me to go in and out. Since we have dengue in the area, it's very important to have mosquito protection. I'm sorry that you got one that was so complicated to put up. All I had to do was tack it around the door frame.

Santiago is gotten with such a cutie. With your canning jars, could you can loquat juice? Or even just can the fruit for later use.
We don’t have a juicer but I’d like to get one and do this, yea, would be very efficient use of the fruit!

There is no need for one. In a quart jar, I put 1 cup of fruit, you can add sugar to taste and fill with boiing water. I water bath mine for 10 minutes. Remove from water bath pot. Let them cool for 24 hrs. Give them 4 to 6 weeks and enjoy. Lots of recipes out there.

great video as usual and they do give me other trains of thought to apply to our particular journey here in southern Hungary. Like you, I publish videos but mainly about growing organic fruit and veg and I envy your water supply as we are currently experiencing drought conditions here. My interest was sparked even more than usual when you spoke about Starlink. Like you, I get very frustrated with the poor internet connection we have here, and uploading videos takes an age. Is it really true that Starlink is so much faster. I checked my area and that seems to be the case. Was it easy to install or did you get a compnay in to do it for you?

Can hit bricks to power and mix with cement white gun to make a paste, sodium cloride helps with fast strong setup.
we have the same magnet screen but chose the velcro option and it seems to be much simpler

Something for next year: loquats are really nice when they're dehydrated. They become an amazing snack to have around or you can chop them up and add them to a granola/trail mix.

The loquat crumble looks magnificent, especially with that lemon frozen treat! Those iced milky coffees looked so refreshing. Hope you bought some beans to grind at "Mother Superior". The tiling makes a huge difference. What will happen to that beautiful door?

Great update! Glad you were able to have some cafe time. Your crumble looks delicious and you could prep a bunch of fruit, freeze it in 1-pan units and then make your crumble topping with the thawed fruit. Also, the house is looking great with all the tiling and touch-ups you have done!

Those are popular in Los Angeles, follow rules, had surgery 4 years ago one more year until set in, may always have some discomforts, rest though will make you feel ,13 again, no prob
I used those flyscreens, Harriet. We are surrounded by farm fieldds, and the bullocks in particular bring the flies. Now I am in my eighties, I am fearful of catching my feet in one, so I keep my doors shut!

That looked like hard work collecting the loquats. If you could attach a strap to the basket you could use it like a shoulder bag so you don't have to keep bending down while carrying the lovely Santi.

I think sun drying the loquat would a nice option epecially for baking, cooking later on or as snack.

Can you preserve the loquat mixture in jars, like the chutney?
You could can them I guess but would still be a lot of preparation removing the stones etc which is the most time consuming part for me!
