Im building up a chickencoop i deconstructed this summer. Getting help from a friend thankfully, because I started building and thought i had a good plan but he came to help and told me to forget about the plan and just too start building 😅 everything changes 3 times over atleast, but it's awesome to learn to just go with the prosess and not having to have it all figured out from the start!
Yes,I am replacing and heightening the roof on an old stone casita( shed!), and am driving myself and my helpers mad with changing the plans rather often! But,,,,I think it's good to chew over all the possibilities to ( hopefully) get it right!😮😅😂
Harriett,you are way to hard on yourself! You are definitely NOT stupid! From all the off grid videos I watch you are the strongest wife and mommy AND doing most of the work! As always, I'm impressed. You are quite fortunate that you are allowed to "make the plan as you go." Here in a place with required permits, one has to have a plan and mostly stick with it. So being able to change plans as needed is a a great blessing. Happy Christmas!
I couldn't quantify how many times I've devised and laid out a plan of action for getting something done, only to dig into the work and realize the plan has been left behind for whatever I can instead practically feel out in the moment while working. I think that bit just has to do with physically getting the brain going instead of hypothesizing or theorizing for a best option, which can lead to a sort of analysis paralysis. I think you two have a solid mind to sort something out for the rebuild for sure. For what it's worth, I personally like a more flat "contemporary" roof style, and with your property it might even lend some unique personality to have that mixed structure design. Best of luck!

No we didn't, as we are incapable of planning ahead in this way 😂 We'll prob just have the drain pipe hanging off the concrete pad and then we'll dig it underground when we decide what direction it's got to go in...
Asbestos, the best thing was not to use it at all, second best thing is not disturbing it at all. Third option is getting a whole company specialised in remediation. (Ouch). Yes, just encase it and make a sign so nobody tries to knock it out. The back wall is stable enough to work with? I can't tell from images, but guessing that work was done at least a few decades ago. You started with outdoor facilities, moved to current indoors, now going to an improvement. It's quite the journey, but every step you two took has been far better.
