  • After a narrow loss to the USA in their opening match they suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Great Britain, who went to the top of the table despite losing their opening match to France.
In the Men's contest the reigning World Champions Sweden won their first two matches to take a useful lead.
The highlight of the day came in their second match against the USA when Fredrik Nystrom earned a big swing for his side by making Six Hearts via a technical play known as a show up squeeze.
The players are getting used to a new Victory Point scale of 20 points that more accurately
reflects the ratio of IMPs to Victory Points so that even a single IMP is of value.

What is the partition for in between? Is it so that North play with East and South with West?

No N plays with S and E with W. The screen is there to prevent unauthorized information by facial expressions and such.
