Apple didn't take into account that they're a fashion brand, moreso than they are an electronics brand. There's a reason any products they release designed to stay inside your home generally land with a resounding thud. A huge chunk of their customers buy them simply so they can walk around showing everyone else that they have a product with an apple logo on it.
most people are speculating that the vision pro was made as almost a proof of concept/ developer headset. The strongest features of the vision pro are for developers.
I know lots of people are tired of hearing Switch 2 speculation by now, but thank you for covering all of the recent leaks and distinguishing fact from fiction - there’s a lot going around each day and it’s nice to have a consistent source that makes sense of it all and reports on it reliably. Excited to finally see the thing officially lol
Most things are leaked except the actual innards of the device. I know many people insist that was leaked years ago, but no matter how many times the mantra "Nintendo doesn't chase the latest and greatest" is repeated I think sitting on an SoC for 4 years is no way to run a technology-oriented company, even if it's a technology-oriented games company and not a core tech company. I think all explanations as to what is the SoC being used are speculation and I have made my own speculation based on various leaks and rumors I have seen over the years. It may not be consistent with all of them, but it is consistent with a certain subset of them. To not make things long and complicated I will not references the specific rumors or leaks in my speculation. The T239 (with ~1500 CUDA cores on Samsung 8 nm process) did, I believe, exist and was likely associated with Nintendo. Whether it was for a docked-only console or whether it was for dev kits or something else entirely, I don't know, but I don't believe it was intended to be used in a next generation Switch hybrid system. It would have been too big and power hungry for that. Trying to get it to run in the necessary 5 to 7 W envelope would have been extremely restrictive. I think the next generation Switch was meant to be based on Ada Lovelace. perhaps on a Samsung 5 LPP process. It perhaps was to have a performance level similar to the T239. That is, the T239 running with reasonable power draw for its process and die size (perhaps 15W?), not a T239 trying to run in the 5 to 7 W envelope it'd need to be in for a handheld of Switch's size. However, sometime in (probably early) 2022 Nvidia decided to pull forward the Blackwell architecture for mobile use and canceled the Atlan Tegra SoC. When they did they forwent finishing the mobile version of the Ada Lovelace architecture. They and Nintendo decided to move the Switch successor to a Blackwell-based architecture, perhaps on a Samsung 4 LPP+ process. After this decision, the Switch successor was meant to come out in 2024. However, the mobile Blackwell got delayed. Nvidia's Thor SoC is known to have been delayed and it's possible the cause of this delay is a general delay in mobile Blackwell. That has pushed the release of the Nintendo Switch into 2025. As far as the performance we could expect from a Switch successor under this speculation, it could be a little to somewhat more powerful than what had originally been planned for the Ada Lovelace-based SoC, or perhaps the update to the architecture and process node have mostly been used to increase battery life instead. Either way it's still in the general neighborhood of the T239 running with a natural TDP for that chip (just increase that hypothetical TDP a little, if you wish).
There are a few devices where instead of a touchpad or little mouse-joystick there's a lit optical sensor that acts as a micro-mouse where you use a fingertip. They work well enough, and could be put to fun use in games.
@@iwreklives3374any games that don’t have locked resolution or frame rates (if they’re dynamic like odyssey, echoes, botw or tears) will inherently benefit from the more powerful system being able to run them at their highest performance mode. games that are locked at 30 fps though, will stay that way.
Plot twist: Nintendo is trickling all the leaks out themselves making it seem like random people are doing it as some sort of marketing scheme cause they know how much attention it grabs.
Whoever in Apple approved & greenlit the Vision Pro for production & release at $3500 need to be jailed! How out of touch! Bet it was Tim Cook (obviously). He will never be on par with Steve Jobs, no matter how hard he tries.

the new "mouse" optical sensor is cool but the old switch had features that were barely used like the IR sensor and the LED ring around the home button. That was a missed opportunity imo.
Hall effect sensors really should be the new standard, and you can't argue that they're too expensive with how much money Nintendo doesn't replacing joycons.
Occam's razor on the Joy-Con's optical sensor: It's likely only there to aid the system in detecting that it's fully connected, or to detect debris as its slotted in. While it could be used as a mouse in homebrew, I don't think that's the optical sensor's primary purpose.
@aurum3747 It's true that Nintendo loves putting gimmicks in their games. Perhaps the optical sensor could be doubled like that for backwards compatibility. It's just that the joycon would make a really poor mouse XD
The guy in the VGC podcast said, in response to Fat Princess being mentioned, "Kind of in the mould you're talking about. Maybe smaller games, maybe like supplemental". I have no idea how so many people are hearing that and making the logical leap to Legend of Dragoon, a 60 hour RPG that spanned 4 PS1 discs. Even a simple remaster of a game that size is not what I would call "small" or "supplemental". Based on the characterization given, I 100% agree that it's probably something closer to a Patapon or a PaRappa the Rapper in terms of scale. There ain't no way this is an RPG he's talking about.
People seem to think Switch 2 is going to drop shortly after being announced. If Switch 2 was coming out soon I think Nintendo would have announced it by now.
they already told us when its being announced and we know its coming out soon because we have shipping manifests from them already buying parts and producing them
@shrub9677 Nintendo announced they're going to announce it. I don't see it coming out until second half of the year at the earliest. Nintendo won't upset people who bought an old one for Christmas by releasing it before July.
Why the hell not? It’s been out for almost 8 years. They already announced that the switch 2 will play all switch games so it’s going to stay relevant.
From what I've seen, I feel the vision pro could have actually gotten a grasp on the high end vr market, IF there was any real utility to it. Obviously it doesn't have games, but somehow it also doesn't really have any software to make use of the impressive hardware in a way that is any more effective than just sitting at a computer. For most people it just seemed like a novelty.
As far as legend of dragoon, it doesnt have to be a FF sized remake and budget. They could do it in a similar veign to all the hd-2d games we"ve been getting lately that everyone loves and sells well, or even take it in the dragon quest style and size/budget. By choosing these alternate art styles it would help keep the budget WAY down and even keep the game size to fewer installments. Maybe even 1 like the OG
@LainK1978 i think we'll have to disagree here. Legend of dragoon tried to give the illusion of 3d, but it certainly wasnt actually. Looking at a side by side of the new trailers for the new hd-2d dragonquest game, and looking at a gameplay for TLOD, its the same thing going on. Except it looks much better in the new DQ series ect. The thing your trading is the realism graphics LOD went for, vs the art style of the new HD-2D entries. Which actually, im fine with. If they went for realism, the budget would balloon substantially, and they would turn it into another ff7 remake live action title game in hopes of more mass appeal and making that money back. But LOD is so massive, it would turn into a 4 or 5 part game, take WAAAAAY too long to ever finish, and they would lose more money with each installment as less people pay for next part. And thats WITHOUT the huge fan backing that even FF7 had/has. So imo, my option is the only sensible way they could actually get it done.
Apple needed to make the introduction to VR/AR not as strict. A wearable or a pair of glasses that REQUIRE the connection to an iPhone, it’d be cheaper, just mirroring your iOS content or notifications.
We could have another Wii U situation here whereby the average consumer thinks the Switch 2 is just a Pro version of the regular Switch. Especially since they have released other versions already like the Lite and OLED. Let's see how this is handled by their marketing this time around.
Here's an idea, and I know this is WAYYYY out there, but folks could simply wait till a console is officially announced, and the FACTS are put out there, as opposed to dissecting every single social media post to determine that they know everything there is to know about said console. But I guess that concept is only for folks who have an actual life outside of video games 24/7! Yeah...the constant subject being brought up EVERY SINGLE DAY is way past being old!
If you're trying to wrap your hand around the joy cons, you're doing it wrong. They're designed to be held with your fingers, not in your palm. You sound like one of those people who didn't figure out how to hold the N64 controller and then complain it's made wrong rather than admit the fault is yours for not holding the middle prong in analog stick mode.
I wonder if 3ds Mighty 9 was officially canceled, or if it was forgotten and left open for so long that Amazon closed the orders. I know that Ebay requires preorders to ship within a certain time.
I think Nintendo really dropped the ball by waiting this long to announce. If they just got out in front of the news, there wouldn't be the steady stream of leaks.
It was initially going to be called the connect. I'm sure there are lots of input ideas. Do you really think nobody's got a mouse plastic shell already designed for this thing. It has two USB ports, one for charging one for whatever items get connected. There's lots of stuff coming. This is the tip of the iceberg
Nintendo better announce their new system very soon. It won’t do them any good if people are no longer going to be surprised or impressed when they already know about what the system is through these leaks.
4:05 Come on Amazon were you really doing that I mean it's nice that they held out hope the writing was already on the wall and it was already coming off at this point
You only really need to differentiate between controllers when you remove them from the console so I appreciate the hidden colors and more mature look.
Leaks are part of the marketing plans for hardware launches. Not all of them, but A LOT of them. I’m convinced Nintendo is behind at least half of these
looks like analog trigglers are out of the question with the controllers on the switch 2. very little travel. probably can be helped with the huge release button in the way.
They pretty much reversed the colors for the new joycons, compared to the official joycons. The joycon rails are black with neon colors as the primary color. The new joycons have the neon colors on the rails, but black/gray primary color.
I would really like a brand new entry of the Twisted Metal series. If done right it would make a good live service game with a good single player experience.
of course its going to be 8nm so that they can release a version with better battery life when they inevitably shrink the node process like they did with the red box switch and oled.
Nintendo could be waiting to announce the new system to see if Mein Orange Fuhrer actually does the tariffs, as that will increase the MSRP significantly.
6:22 I don't know... Can't really see if this is an optical sensor or just two shiny metal contacts. So it could just be a charging port. If it's an optical sensor it might be just to sense if the cons are attached to the Switch 2 or not. Could also be an optical interface to transfer data between con and Switch.
Amazon finally canceling the Mighty No.9 3DS pre orders has been a long time coming. It's nice to see this saga end with a whimper, just like it started.
People wanted to believe. I got No.9 at a deep discount years later and it was worse than most indie Megaman copies. It was shocking how bad it was with that much money and devs behind it.

Like what?
I'm so sick of reading all these switch 2 rumors and speculations. Nintendo needs to stop being so stingy and just release news about it already

GDDR memory generations improvements you speak of are only speed improvements, not capacity improvements. You will continue to need more memory as games get more complex unless they improve compression technology

Apple will never learn, which is one reason their first venture with the pippin failed due to price and no 3rd party support
They should’ve released a dirt cheap version first even if it was a little inferior, then made a pro version. They did it backwards and the platform will suffer as a result
They don't care to learn as long as their fans continue to rush out and buy everything they put out. Everyone with common sense knew the Vision Pro was doomed to failure with that price and lackluster features

Selling a VR headset for more than 400 bucks is insane. Those headset graphics are still based in textures and meshes. It's a videogame system. The holodeck is the next step for VR.
The best episodes were holodeck episodes imo
The amount of times in Apple's history that has seen what is in reality a great idea of a product, flop so hard they fall into obscurity due to the price... With all these Switch 2 leaks the official reveal will feel anticlimactic
We all be like “yeah we already knew that”.
I don’t know when they intend to reveal it, but they really need to hurry
You realize that people say this about literally everything that gets leaked and then the official announcement happens and everyone forgets about the leaks anyway? People said that GTA 6 wasn’t going to be exciting because of the leaks it had and then the trailer officially released and became the most watched game trailer of all time.
Yeah but it's going to be like that in the first place because Nintendo really doesn't have anything for this system. Just better graphics. It's going to cost a lot more. The store will be a lot better but still be garbage and these features are just a quick little thing that everyone will get over in seconds. But the system will be based upon it and you'll pay for it
Which is why Nintendo has handled this horribly by waiting so long.
@@NoonDragoonMy dude of course its the most watched game trailer of all time its fucking GTA 6, its more anticipated than most marvel movies. The crazy part is we still barely know anything about the game even a year later
not only is Vision Pro multiple times as expensive a Meta Quest and PSVR, it has a tiny fraction of the software support. heck! many iOS apps not only refused to make a VR version, they literally blocked the VR device. why would anyone by Vision Pro?
Apple didn't take into account that they're a fashion brand, moreso than they are an electronics brand. There's a reason any products they release designed to stay inside your home generally land with a resounding thud. A huge chunk of their customers buy them simply so they can walk around showing everyone else that they have a product with an apple logo on it.
most people are speculating that the vision pro was made as almost a proof of concept/ developer headset. The strongest features of the vision pro are for developers.
You mean, other than the people who make brand loyalty to Apple their entire personality?
I know lots of people are tired of hearing Switch 2 speculation by now, but thank you for covering all of the recent leaks and distinguishing fact from fiction - there’s a lot going around each day and it’s nice to have a consistent source that makes sense of it all and reports on it reliably. i was looking for you when i heard him say this lol
Ready for joycon-drift 2
I hope that the joy con buttons are bigger to account for the larger controller itself.
Be funny if they were the same size.
I don’t know if many people also agree but my main excitement is for my games that run like poopy to run better on the switch 2.
How do you know if switch 1 games will get a frame rate and resolution increase on switch 2
@@iwreklives3374any games that don’t have locked resolution or frame rates (if they’re dynamic like odyssey, echoes, botw or tears) will inherently benefit from the more powerful system being able to run them at their highest performance mode.
games that are locked at 30 fps though, will stay that way.
@ thank you that’s what I was hoping once they confirmed backwards compatibility.
Which is really hilarious because it's like one absolute trashy waste of skin is not as good as the one before him was. Still I can't help but agree. Tim Cook is even less than second-hand jobs.
This is Apple’s MO, they act like they’re Burberry or some other luxury brand.
@@colossaloverlord2678 regardless of what you think of Tim Cook, he had made Apple a trillion company I’m for me. He has helped modernise Apple on Steve Jobs we would still be using tiny phones because he hated big phones so I will defend him on that.

It's insane the amount of leaks and still haven't even announced it yet
It's hilarious Apple actually thought the Vision Pro would make any money. Lol
the new "mouse" optical sensor is cool but the old switch had features that were barely used like the IR sensor and the LED ring around the home button. That was a missed opportunity imo.
I don’t think I’ve ever been as burned out for something in gaming as I am for “Switch 2 news/leaks” and this channel is largely responsible for it
I feel the reason behind Nintendo's "lag" on the situation comes down to their need for presentation.
Honestly? The simplest explanation is actually the mouse one
Nintendo absolutely adores gimmicks, the switch 1 has a ir camera on the right joycon!
@jatf The average Switch owner probably doesn't even know Switch 2 is coming until Nintendo formally unveil it.
And announcing the announcement might as well be a warning that switch 2 is imminent. It’s clearly in production.
Imagine moving the joycon around like a toy car as an input for mario kart
As far as legend of dragoon, it doesnt have to be a FF sized remake and budget. They could do it in a similar veign to all the hd-2d games we"ve been getting lately that everyone loves and sells well, or even take it in the dragon quest style and size/budget. By choosing these alternate art styles it would help keep the budget WAY down and even keep the game size to fewer installments. Maybe even 1 like the OG
That would be a downgrade for the game. Legend of Dragoon is a 3D game. All of the HD 2D games are originally 2D.
I’m really excited to see the software on the Switch 2, I hope it looks more appealing and runs WAY better.
The serial numbers for the joycons actually did come up on Nintendo’s website (in the warranty part of website)so these are the actual joycons
Apple needed to make the introduction to VR/AR not as strict. A wearable or a pair of glasses that REQUIRE the connection to an iPhone, it’d be cheaper, just mirroring your iOS content or notifications.
Amazon doesn't charge until it ships, so no need to check for refunds for cancelled pre-orders of anything ever.
We could have another Wii U situation here whereby the average consumer thinks the Switch 2 is just a Pro version of the regular Switch. Especially since they have released other versions already like the Lite and OLED. Let's see how this is handled by their marketing this time around.
Dude was playing with his kids while doom scrolling. Father of the year right there.
PS3 remasters on PS5 is the dream
If we could have the option to just pop off the analog stick and put on larger ones, that would be lovely.
Sony wants to revive old IP's?
Iko, anyone?
If you're trying to wrap your hand around the joy cons, you're doing it wrong. They're designed to be held with your fingers, not in your palm. You sound like one of those people who didn't figure out how to hold the N64 controller and then complain it's made wrong rather than admit the fault is yours for not holding the middle prong in analog stick mode.
I wonder if 3ds Mighty 9 was officially canceled, or if it was forgotten and left open for so long that Amazon closed the orders. I know that Ebay requires preorders to ship within a certain time.
Make a MotorStorm with today's tech, similar to the first one, which was the best.
It will be close to that cgi trailer.
WarioWare has to be a launch window title to show off the mouse functionality.
Nintendo did patent a controller with a scroll wheel as the shoulder button many years back
4:05 Come on Amazon were you really doing that I mean it's nice that they held out hope the writing was already on the wall and it was already coming off at this point
Yep. If it's really used as a mouse then would make more sense to NOT have now
Hopefully they solved the drift issue because it would suck to have pretty new joycon with the same old issues.
They pretty much reversed the colors for the new joycons, compared to the official joycons. The joycon rails are black with neon colors as the primary color. The new joycons have the neon colors on the rails, but black/gray primary color.
Guaranteed Nintendo doesn’t highlight the hall effect sticks, since that would be admitting that drift was an actual issue 😂
Manufacturers better start working on a connector to make the mouse feature more ergonomic
At this rate it seems like we're gonna know every detail about the Switch 2 well before its officially revealed.
Or find out that everything you've been fed is a lie.
Sony should revive some of their PS2 exclusives like Siren games, Ghost Hunter etc
The most crazy thing i saw today was that apple thought a 3500 ugly vr headset would sell.
Oh snap. A mouse feature would be phenomenal actually.
I would really like a brand new entry of the Twisted Metal series. If done right it would make a good live service game with a good single player experience.
of course its going to be 8nm so that they can release a version with better battery life when they inevitably shrink the node process like they did with the red box switch and oled.
February direct makes the most sense for a Nintendo announcement.
3D touch, they're gonna bring the playtest idea back as a pack-in. Using Joycon as mice would be great for molding, pinching and pulling
I’ve heard rumors about Nintendo putting scroll wheel bumpers on the new joy con, they have a patent for it, so this makes those rumors seem likely

Can't believe I got suckered into backing that garbage.
I like Gotham Knights at the $20 I paid for it. Especially since my cousin grabbed a copy as well, and having someone to play with made it more enjoyable.
