The main thing to know about this band is there is only 1 core member: Chrigel, the male singer. Every other member has been replaced multiple times. In total there have been around 27 different people in the band. This is by design. Chrigel tried for years to form a normal band but got tired of all the drama that starts and people not being able to set or keep a schedules, so he decided to try an "open door" approach for his next project where anyone who comes on board with him aren't expected to stick around longer than they want too. If this means the entire band needs to be replaced after only a single album or tour, so be it. As long as everyone is happy. This song and album it comes off of are around 2 years old now, so chances are a few of the people in this video are no longer part of the project lol. But that's just Eluveitie. It obviously works as they've been going for nearly 18 years now.

Since we are on the subject of Celtic music you should listen to celtic punk by a band from Boston Massachusetts called the Dropkick Murphys. If you never heard of them then where have you been, lol! Dropkick Murphys has been around for a while and if you Google them you will find that they are very popular and probably the best party band on the planet to see live. If you RUclips them you will find that one of their songs has over 100 million views and another song close to 100 million views and many of their other songs are highly popular as well. Dropkick Murphys like Eluveitie are bringing Celtic music to a new level but doing it differently from each other. Either way both are killing the game. My favorite video by the Dropkick Murphys is their video with 12 million views called Going out in Style. You feel that you are at an Irish American party or celebrating St Patrick's Day with bar hopping on that day with this song.

Few years ago, some of the members decided to part ways with the drummer, Merlin, because of creative differences. Two of his best friends in the band, Ivo the guitarist and Anna Murphy the hurdy gurdy player/singer, were not part of the decision and were not happy about it. They too decided to leave the band. The three of them formed a new band called Cellar Darling. Eluveitie then replaced the drummer, the guitarist, BUT had to get TWO people to replace Anna Murphy. A singer and a hurdy gurdy player. Apparently they couldn't find someone that could do both. I Love the old lineup and their new band. Though I still love Eluveitie too. The new singer has an incredible voice and I have met the new hurdy gurdy player, she is a really sweet person. 😁😁

They are literally trying to bring back a language that DISAPPEARED after the 6th century!!!! Celtos and Carry the Torch are the ones that stand out being mostly if not all Gaulish (I've only been following them since 2014 and haven't visited their older stuff) Call of the mountain is a very catchy song that you can find them singing in about 5-8 different languages as well. It was a great couple of weeks in late September to mid October for myself. Seen Jinjer in Baltimore in late September then 2 weeks later at the same venue Eluveitie headlined this same venue. Both of those shows kicked ass and the opening act bands kicked ass as well.

There's the basketball team, but there's also a Scottish Soccer team that pronounces it that way too. When people think Celt, they normally think Irish or Scottish. But "Eluveitie" is the name the Tuscans gave the group of Celts that settled in ancient Switzerland. In my line of work, I've been privileged to work with Celtic musicians. The instrument the young lady is playing is a Hurdy-gurdy. It was a popular instrument in medieval Europe. The crank turns a wheel that vibrates the strings kind of the way a bow does on a violin, and she plays the different notes by pressing the "stops". Many see this and say "look at my man playing the flute". That's actually an Irish tin whistle. Loved the reaction! And you're right.....music transcends all boundaries!
