- This video documents the process of building a duplex rental property from start to finish. The builders go through the entire construction process, from laying the foundation and framing the structure to installing mechanical systems, electrical, plumbing and insulation. Next they focus on interior finish work like hanging and finishing drywall, installing flooring, cabinets, fixtures and paint. The builders also discuss designing custom elements like staircases and railings. Throughout the project, the builders troubleshoot issues and modifications to their original plans. The video offers a comprehensive look at all aspects of residential construction and provides insights into building durable yet affordable rental units.

Wow! I made it! The full 2 hours 44 minutes. Didn't think I would but you and your crew are real entertainers as well as top tradesmen, Very Well done.
I was a trim carpenter for many years and I've never seen framing performed with the precision that these men do. I had a crew put up the trusses and sheath my house last year. When sighting down the ridge, it looked like a sin wave. Plum, level and square are only achieved accidentally! Accuracy is a myth around here. The Perkins Builder Brothers frame a home like they are building a cabinet. The most skill craftsmen I've ever seen.
I see you used “all-purpose” flour to start the footings. That’s a rookie move. If you’ll use “self-rising” flour, the house builds it self.
Unbleached only
😂
😂😂😂😂😂
for as long as you have the passion to make these videos, you will forever have a viewer in me. Absolutely a joy waiting for the videos every few days. Just as a thought if you ever feel tired or frustrated having to do editing, know you do an amazing job and thousands and thousands of us are so excited every week.
All my best wishes to Arlo. I loved the programme when all the gang were boarding out Arlo’s new house. Arlo’s older house blew me away. I’m in the UK and there was style period called the arts and crafts movement. I don’t know if you have something similar in the US but I thought Arlo’s house was stunning. I think Arlo is a true craftsman and I hope he finds something to occupy his time.
This makes me so happy!! Almost 3 hours absolutely watching it all!! Arlo’s smile at around 35 minutes leveling that wall just makes you smile 😀 happy retirement Arlo!!
And his legs are lookin' good too! 😅
I LOVE the fact that you release these long-form mash-up/summary videos of your projects. I can't imagine how much time it takes you to do these but it's appreciated.
not hard
nothing will ever top the Mountain-Side Getaway Home video, that was an all timer
There are no words that could describe how much I enjoy these guys build. Informative..entertaining...and awesome content all the way around. I look foward to every video they upload.
I have been watching your videos for a while. Is Arlo missed yet since he retired. He always seemed to have a good solution. I watched this build video by video and still enjoyed this one. Thank you and hope Arlo enjoys his retirement.
Happy birthday Arlo🎉 We love you🥰
A post-construction detailed inside and outside walkaround on your last day would be amazing to see in your videos. Not sure why you don't do that. At most, it should take 30 minutes.
these long-form complete-project videos are awesome. No wonder they get millions of views! 😜
Wouldn't it be great to see Arlo's GoFundMe hit $50K? It's almost there!
so heartwarming too see so many people be so generous!
LETS GOOOOO!!!!! $50K HERE WE COME!!!🥰🥰🥰
What happened to arlo,s
@@shawnfelix3573 He is fine, he is just retiring.
done! $50k for his retirement!
Just so you know, a (veteran painter of 28 years given some exceptional advice) on the raw pieces of trim on the frames you do have to put 4 to 5 coats on them to cover that raw wood. However, an experienced painter knows when he's caulking the trim, that the door frame it's gonna take 4-5 coats so he avoids that by simply caulking the end (where its raw). Simply caulk the side of that door frame where its raw when you caulk the door frame. Also, by keeping a fresh 5 gallon bucket of water, and decent rags, with frequent changes in the rags and water, it keeps the caulking fresh, without being dried up or any dried pieces of caulking getting over into the smooth moist caulking. Always at all times keep a wet fresh clean water dipped rag in your hand every second your caulking. So your way equals probably 5 coats to cover completely, or, my way, one thin coat of the caulking wiped completely off flush with the trim, equals, one coat of paint if done properly. From 5 coats, plus all the time it takes all those coats to dry, to, one coat and done. I often tell my customers you don't pay me for the hours or days, you pay me for the years...... (My experience which happens to be 28 years).Have a good day Brother. Just noticed, also, Never use a orbital sander on a tread as it will leave rotation marks in the sending. Always use a flat sheet sander, Always to remember to make no exceptions to never use an orbitable sander, matter of fact I don't even have one on the job anymore.
Get you a small ultrasonic cleaner to clean your paint guns Just drop them in with a little water based parts washer fluid and come back in 30 min and your done.
The attention to detail y’all put into y’all’s work is incredible and inspiring! Learning a lot watching y’all’s channel
Thanks and thumbs up to one and all. Well Done.
Thank you for this long version. I love all your videos and watch them until the last second :)
Hi guys I live watching you past projects I appreciate how much time it takes to put these videos together, but I do prefer these long ones love to work with u guys good team you got
Hey thanks John!
I have built houses for over 40 years. The easiest way to cut your crown moldings, is to just look up at the ceiling and think of it as a big picture frame. Easy peasy, no flipping and backwarding your trim and forgetting where you are !
TRANSFORMERS! Perkins Bros in disguise! 🤖🦿🦾
I so love perkins !! Watched alot of builders ,they seem to me to be the most honest of all of them.. i have property and need a builder. Been scammed 2 times now...think its cause were seniors....in dire need...
Almost $50k for Arlo, what a legend! We’ll miss you Arlo.
seriously - watched all the episode and I am here again watching - lol / I'm a fan / cheers guys/
Love watching you guys! Your energy and the way you work so well together says something about you. Love it! And your knowledge is endless!
I’m nothing more than a mediocre DIYer myself, but your videos are my favourite on RUclips. I have watched every single episode and wait eagerly for the next one to be released. Keep up the good work team - this is good wholesome entertainment.
Been watching youll for a couple years now, quality work, koo work environment. Keep it up fellas
You guys are incredible builders. You can see the chemistry between all the crew which makes for a good build. My knees go weak when I see you guys hanging over the side of a mountain and no safety ropes on.
Jasons moon walking " break dancing " was on spot.
I grew up watching this old house with my dad and watching their videos gives me the same feeling. Thank you!
I paint, so I can also tell you that the paint of the same color by the same brand but from different batches sometimes is very different. More expensive brands keep this to a minimum, but even they screw up sometimes.
This is true for all the colored materials, so it is always a good idea to make sure you get them from the same batch for the entire project.
Jay certainly loves his movie puns.😂🙏👍
Two thoughts:
You guys should find a place or board in every house to sign the date and name of each builder for the renovators to find in 50 years.
You should take a pair of chanellocks, and grind the outside parallel with the grip face so you have pliers that can open paint bucket caps.
“You look like a real construction worker today!”
“I feel like an idiot” 😂😂😂😂
We need an arlo video update asap 😃 so cool to see all the support
This is my favorite show on any platform!
So far my favorite video. Great job guys.
Why is Arlo the best human ever
Nice to see everyone using a fall arrest system correctly. Still my favorite builders channel.
Y'all have too much fun building.
For all the body shop guys. That. Block sanding. Was spot on. 😂. That really did make the hole video more priceless
I really love those videos, even though I watched all the episodes, I like have them running distracting me from boring tasks🔥
I got a little trick for you if you put tape down like a piece of blue tape down on your trim first add all the trim nails on the blue tape then putty each hole that you just made in the tape wipe it smooth pull the tape voila no sanding all the putty spots and all that crap anymore good luck❤
Amazing build quality and attention to detail 👌🏼👌🏼 Arlo seems like the chillest guy.
As a tiler I completely appreciate how square and true you make your walls and floors 👍🏼👍🏼 Big fan from Australia 🇦🇺 🦘 🐨🍻🥳
These full length build videos are really awesome! I watched all the episodes when you guys were working on this duplex, but watching the full build is great too!
Hello guys My name is Mohsin and I am currently watching from sudan
I have learned alot watching you guys since I first found your channel even though we don't do wood construction in Sudan but if end up in the us one day it will definitely come handy.
Buy the way I have studied civil engineering in college and graduated in 2024 so thanks to all of you guys for the free lessons.
Best channel on RUclips !!

It's awesome works inline with shop vac before it gets to your shop vac all the dust goes in the 5 gal bucket. Just a suggestion. Love yalls work guys.
Fantastic film, I thoroughly enjoyed ever minuet watching here in the UK
And theres nothing nicer than going out for a couple of pints with your mates (buddies) and a bite to eat when you've reached a good stage in the job.
Well done lads, keep it coming 😊
Really enjoyed the vid, but wanted to know how you'd decided to pack out the stairs - was niggling me - small detail, but there you go. Great job:)
Wonderful video, it is a visual delight, construction from start to finish. Congratulations Perkins brothers and also to Jason, Arno, Ray and Jano. My greetings from Guatemala.
love watching these guys and always fast with putting out content, but its not enough i need more 🤣😂
Jamie seems a great lead man, would love to work under him for a summer or two :)
I'm union so i don't get to frame up houses but tbh it looks kinda fun and what i have done is always a blast. You guys sure make it look easy and fun to work for tho.
That 3 hours was worth watching. That's a good-looking home 🩵
Pro tip: when you need to make a groove in a lock insert, use a small profile multi-function tool blade and it works like a charm (and quick)!!
Very nice work guys, I like the extra care and fit you guys do. When installing kitchen cabinets I like using a set of Jerguson pony cabinet clamps, I think they work great. Again nice work and keep the great video's coming. Thanks,
You guys rock. I wish you build houses in my area.
you guys are the best, thank you for making these type of videos.
Your content is amazing, mate. You are an inspiration.
That was a long video, but I remember it all ! Great job & a beautiful house !! I LOVE YOU ALL !! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
In Germany we call it Richtfest. A great old custom!
I always watch your series videos... But the entire build video is what I always look forward to!! I know it's a lot of work editing these videos... And I appreciate it!!
Plans that have outside to center of interior walls are the best by far in my opinion. Embrace it and you will see how brilliant that is. There is never a mistake about which side of the wall you were meant to mark to. Then layout from that wall to the next is still the same dimension c to c as far side and away or nearside and back. By far the quickest for practical layout and fewer mistakes.
Watching from holland , nice team, nice to do the entire job!, you're artist preformer builder Heroes, good smiles! Tudio
Sparky comment from a master electrician: you struggled, as most teams struggle, to cut that hole to match the overhead porch light. The best and fastest method would be to measure as close as you can (I use a stick rather than a tape) and then remove the box BEFORE raising that sheet. Once the sheet is secured, pull the wire down and screw the box up to the rafter/joist.save a LOT of hassle and wear-and-tear on your arms.
Use a garden sprayer with water in it to lightly wet the floor at the walls just before you spray.
It will keep dust from blowing on the paint.
Most builders dont clean up after drywall as you did, and by wetting the floor the paint goes well.
Painting. I ran into the same problem. Those small testers are very hard to get mixed right. Sherwin Williams provides nearly a quart for a tester to elude this problem. So spend a few dollars more and get the right thing the 1st time. Worth it not having to deal with your current situation. Also, Lowes offers a program where you can upload the house and paint it to see if the color is what you really want.
If I were looking to build/buy a home in the area that you guys operate, I would absolutely love to hire you as the builder. Your build quality looks great, which seems to be somewhat uncommon these days. My parents bought a 5 acre lot back in 1997 and had a house built on it and the build quality throughout that house leaves a lot to be desired. I remember seeing so many flaws after we moved in.
I really wanted to see the finishing part of the house, it's just a shame I didn't find it, whether the final stage of completion is shown or not I don't know but I hope to see it. Good job guys. Be healthy always. Greetings
You guys are real pleasure to watch work funny quality workmanship
LETS GOOOOO Perkins Brothers MILLION SUBS OTW
Always enjoy watching your vids and learning something new every time I do.
One thing I think a lot of folks perhaps don't appreciate is how many tools you guys have and the enormous amount of investment it takes to acquire, maintain, and store them.
The fact that your brother knows everyone in the store is hilarious 😂😂😂😂
Really enjoy u nutbags building videos, definitely a group of guys i could mesh with, I would like to build my own home one day n watchin u guys is been informing with comedy so really fun to watch, anyhow keep the videos coming n give Arlo a raise, take it outta Jays cut LMAO
Unique way for labor saving on the "Hip Roof" with 2 X 4 on flat to lay on the common trusses. Previous comment from @wallypoly563. In the '60s and the '70s, the crews I worked on did precision framing. We would accept nothing less because
the visual is what the customer remembers. All the finish carpentry is so much easier as well. Keep quality in the trade!
Use plastic automotive masking wrap, tape sticks really good to it it comes in allot of different widths too and it’s cheap
We use it to cover the entire car, and cut out the part we are painting!
That moonwalk was clutch...
KEEEEEP THESE VIDEOS UP!!!! LOVE YALL
Whoa!!! Ray with a short beard!!!!
Did e have to “trim” it because of getting all that caulk in it?
😂 the swiping got me.
I wish yall built in Georgia. I’m getting a house built south of Atlanta.
these full build videos make thousands on youtube.. great job man. :-) i realy enjoy the fullbuild videos
Wow I didn't even realized that this would be a long video. Only realized after an hour into it. Great job guys!
I have had that happen with the 5 gallon paint spout. I use a hammer and screwdriver on the edge to move the top.
A little Friday afternoon fun with the entire building of the duplex!! Thanks guys!! KUTGW
@ 2:06:26 the crew each giving Arlo a hug when he returned from being on a break shows the love you guys have for each other it seems even more meaningful now with Arlo retiring.
I know Arlo is going to be really missed by the viewers, but for the Perkins crew not having Arlo on your crew anymore will mean something much deeper...
Top Arbeit und von feinster Qualität.
Ihr seit eine super Truppe.
oak stairs.... boiled linseed - let dry 48 hrs.... then minwax wipe on polly... 2-3 coats with a rag.
Your strap on the down spout is backward. First, install the strap on the building. Then, wrap each end of the strap around to the front and attach them.
Much cleaner look.
Eric to Arlo: “Your legs are looking good”!!! 😂
Good job
Great video, you guys do quality work. Your videos remind me of the old Hometime videos with Dean. Being a DIY-er it is good to see some of the products we amateurs don't always know about and to get some pro-tips from time-to-time. I love the Big Stretch caulk, glad to see they're a sponsor. I don't use anything but Big Stretch for my projects.
I have been watching you guys for years. And I’m not even subscribed. 😮. I’m so glad. You told me to check out your complete build videos. I’m most definitely subscribed now. Can’t wait for the next build video. I do like the longer videos.
Arlo is back!
Haha… back from the past :-)
Happy Easter joke from Jason that was funny
이분들은 정말 보기좋은 한팀이네요. 힘든 일도 즐겁게 하니깐 너무 보기 좋아요 ❤
LOL on the filling the bucket with water gag!
You guys do some great work. No shortcuts , done correctly, and in a timely manner. Any homeowner would be glad that they had you as their builder. Very professional. Continued much success. 👍🏻🙏🏼🔨🪚🧱
