  • We often get asked about RV toilet paper and if you should flush it down your RVs toilet.
The concern for most RV'ers is that the tank is a temporary holding tank. So things can easily get clogged up. The key is using lots of water and a good chemical free probiotic tank treatment.
I wanted to put a few different toilet papers to the test so you can see the difference.
    For this test I used:
    - Targets Step Up brand
    - Scott 1000
    - Valtera Softness RV toilet paper
    - Charmin 2ply ultra strong
    - Cottonell flushable wipes "biodegradable"
    - Target Step Up flushable wipes "biodegradable"
I wanted to simulate an RV holding tank as it sits. So I allowed the tp to sit for 24 hours with just water. You can see feathering in some of the brands. The one that did not break down much was the Valtera RV brand and of course the wipes.
I added in some probiotics to show you how something so simple as a healthy bacteria can help break down tp and imagine waste. I let that sit for another 24 hrs and these are the results.
The regular store brands including the Charmin ultra broke down and feathered really well. The one that clumped together was the Valtera RV brand. Definitely NEVER use wipes even if they say flushable. And as always use LOTS of water with every flush by filling the bowl and using a 6 second count.
To conclude this test, use any toilet paper you prefer. It doesn't have to be an RV brand. Charmin Ultra is our brand of choice, as it does break down and feathers nicely.
