  • She is India's 3rd female player to become a grandmaster. In 2023 she managed to not only become a GM, but also won the FIDE Grand Swiss and booked a spot in the Candidates. At the Candidates she won 5 games in a row and finished joint 2nd. And now at the Norway Chess she is leading in the event ahead of some of the best players in the world. Check out this video where we take you through Vaishali's achievements in the past 1.5 years and also her interview!

She's quite close to the top 10 and if she joined there, I think she'd be the youngest and the only player in her 20s. Interestingly, unlike the open rating, where more and more youngsters are joining the top, the women's ratings have a consistently similar composition, with most players in their 30s.

I don't know if it's possible for her to join the top 5 women after this tournament. She would need to get around 40 elo and I don't know if that would be achievable even if she won every game she played.

i just discovered your channel the other day, you didnt cover Pragg vs Hikaru, do you only plan to cover matches that Pragg has won? Pragg Crushes Carlsen but no Hikaru Crushes Pragg?
