It's on the edge of feedback or oscillation, sounds a lot like the V1 preamp tube is microphonic and should be replaced. I don't think it's inherent to the amp design, any high gainer will do this if a preamp tube is toast.
As someone who personally owns this amp (not this exact one) and have never heard it before, I believe what you are hearing is more than likely clipping in the DAW. That noise is gone after a few minutes in the video.
What I found most impressive was the clarity of all the strings even in high gain mode. I could hear every one and it made the tone massive. Extremely well done.
so good to see you playthrough this Leon, killer amp 🙌has maybe some Hiwatt vibes to me, has solid hi-mids that cut, Daniel's an awesome dude in any case, it's great seeing his stuff reach further out in the globe
Last night my uberschall was showing off as if it was trying to stick to my powerball. The uberschall sounded like this sizzling 80’s boutique amp that could go all the way to scar symmetry while the powerball sounded like cold steel. It does the mein teil tone to a T.
The ADA in the front sounded just killer. I'm an 80s kid so I used an ADA pre starting in the late 80s. I have no idea who owns the ADA name now, but if they reissued the ADA in like a pedal format like the Friedman IR-X or a Synergy module I'd be all over that like having a hot date in the backseat of the car, by the lake outside town in 1987.
@@deddiev1718 the Boogie 50/50 is a powerhouse, still have one. The VHT was way too much money to get in Australia at the time, so it was the next best. Actually the Peavey power amps from that time were not too shabby either......rhey we're the closest thing we could get to the LA thing in Melbourne.
@@deddiev1718 well I've been based in the UK for the last 24 years so I used to get great deals on old Marshall's. Used to pick up early 70s Marshall MKII super leads for like £300, those were the days. When I was 19 I got a 72 superlead 59 watt head for 140 dollars Aussie. It wasn't vintage then, just old gear. In the 80s people were dumping old fender and Gibson stuff to buy charvel, ibanez, bc rich, rack gear etc. So if you had a few bucks you could get good stuff, I got a 68 fuzz face in the bargain bin for $15 once. Good times.
did you mention its most genius feature? providing 9v thru the footswitch to pedals? i trolled a couple of amp deverlopers with the question howtheyfeel about it at guitar summit...fun reactions.
@@Burkhimself i thought of that at my first gig beeing frustrated findin no poweroutlet at front of stage for my crybaby, looking at the footcontroller of my kettner ats120..."why dont they put a 9v plug there?" then i got brainwashed into the right way of things. never occured to me again. 300€ for 10x clean 9v? makes absoluteley sense.
Leon last night I had my uberschall 150 and Engl powerball ii plugged in and I cannot imagine this head running the kt88’s. I mean that in the literal sense because you would need an attenuator if you want those red hot glowing tubes 😂 + to not go deaf. Your review rocked!
The "ch" in Licht is pronounced as a forward H like in "heat" or "heaten" "hill" in English. It's an amazing name for an amp. Almost as good as "painting with electrons" :)
Cool riff at 40 seconds in to the intro. Kicked my ass. The only Prometheuses I know are: Emperor's great album and the Alien movie. Well ok the Greek mythology but that's besides the point.
Sounds very reminiscent of one of my 2003 Diezel Herberts MK2, CH3 without the deep thump and punch in your face that Herbert is famous for. Very cool, but no cigar. :(
It's just that it has tons of saturation in the highs. The "bite" switch changes this to a certain degree (same thing as a bright switch on Marshall's and hotrodded Marshall type amps). Listen to the difference between the "bite" modes at 7:47 to 8:32. It is also tamed a bit when you use something like a Tube Screamer in-front of the amp.
Lichtlaerm ist from Berlin Germany (where I live) - did they ship that Amp to you to Austraila? How cool! Did you see they make a 8 x 12 cabinet for it?
It sounds quite nice... but it's £1500!!! That's a lot of brick for an amp. For live, I'd literally just use a Boss Katana 2x12... or go with an FM3 on the board with a GPA-100 as a power amp and plug it in to an existing cab. Great review Leon!
Best demo of this amp that I’ve heard - absolutely crushing tones at the 20:00 mark ish. Nicely done 🤘🏼
Thanks! 😃
The digital glitch noise can be heard really good starting around 4:50
Yea thats weird

I think Daniel said Hiwatt and Verellen amps were the inspiration for this. Verellen amps were basically modded bassman amps.
This sounds great. I love this amp. He said he’s planning more amps. Lower wattage and maybe a pedal platform amp.
Uncle Leon on The Prometheus FV*K YEAH🤘! I just wish he would jam either Black the Skies OR Pillow by our boys and my home state hero's KINGS X!!!!!
It sounds alot like that Orange amps at high gain, with that special Orange crunch.
It has character, Lichtlärm is a cool name.
Sounds sick! I really want one of these!
I really like the first crunch sound you made… had a Laney like spike in the low-mid frequency. Sounds killer!!
Leon, you would have loved Guitar Summit 2024 we just had in Germany. Maybe... next time? Lots of Lichtlaerm there, too. Cheers!
I'd love that!
lol the split screen makes the amp head look HUMONGOUS next to you.
It looks like it had a lot of options. Clean to crunch to metal. Thanks for the demo. Great playing as usual.
Sounds awesome. Really unique and versatile. A new reference!
Dream amp 🎸🎶😁
dude..your face on the 'drop C tones' section tells it all!
Drop C or Drop C# are the magical tunings I don't care what anyone else says. EVH, Jerry Cantrell, Dimebag and so many more. Need I SAY more 😂
@@Naughtforeye please dont
Sick playing and demo like always! I‘m super happy you play AC/DC riffs once in a while. My all-time hero’s. ❤
The ultimate test - does it ACDC
great demo!
Got my Prometheus on order . Curious what a 6l6 kt88 version would sound like

I like the medium gain tones quite a bit. Definitely has more gain available than I'd need!
Nice Clean tone, snappy with butter.
Medium is impressive also. Some Abnormal extra harmonics at full tilt.
That sounds insanely good. Mesa clone of some sort with mods
TBH, I liked the ADA into the amp the best, but I’m all about 80’s metal.
I think my best tone ever was an ADA preamp through a Quadraverb into a Mesa Boogie 50/50 power amp to a Marshall 412 with 65’s

This amp sounds alot different elsewhere on the net! Mic clipping or preamp tube people say.
This amp make me want to get rid of my Quad cortex and all my other amps. It is the high gain king. What a f***ing beast.!!
Absolute chungus

😮😮 that first high gain chug!!!! Wow! If this amp was a boxer, it would be mike Tyson!
Uberschall = super warm almost the way steve vai describes carvin
Engl = super cold like steel dropped inside a the tsar bomba
A little fizzy/solid state sounding to me. I much prefer your old Marshall.
was thinking the same thing DSL 50 for a lot cheaper
Yes, the top end is very fizzy.
Maybe it's overwhelming the 57?
Lol ,ada preamp ,marshall power amp ,send this back

Sounds like an overgained fizzy modeler.
Truth
I'm hearing some sort of anomaly. Sounds like a digital glitch type of noise
yeah its dont sound good overall, this amp sounds like mix old and modern modeller.
yeah there's definitely something there like a shot preamp tube

What are you talking about? The price is a steal for what this is.
For an all tube, built to order amp that's a steal
Not bad but little fuzz
Too “plasticky” sounding.
Soundsnotgood😮
20 years ago I had a DigiTech RP20 and I think it had this setting. It was garbage, didn't cut through any mix.
Oof that sounds like absolute garbage.
