I don't think that Korone would have become NEARLY as obsessed with her OBS-specific gags & art as a core element to her streams if things hadn't turned out this way with her debut, so we truly live in a most blessed timeline.

Ngl, I think her skills and humor using obs is a pretty big factor in why she popped off in the West

If what went down with Aloe is anything to go by, since it is scuff she wouldn't have been heavily punished, if at all, at least from what we know, very possibly blame would've been only slightly placed on her and the more significant portion would be the management right above her for not teaching her properly
It always breaks my heart watching Korone's first stream. Everything was going wrong but she kept stumbling forward like a cheerful little puppy....and quickly became one of the biggest stars in Hololive =)

Shiori, as in Novella, pre-dates her, and is (obviously) still active. She started with a group before Kizuna Ai, around 2014, but they lost their channel due to a merger with Mirai Akari in 2017, and all their past content has just been scrubbed as of Feb 2024, the group members had to make separate channels for individual content since the merger. Her alt/PL was active until she started as Shiori so she never really stopped Vtubing for 10 years now.

@@Muallasss this is the correct interpretation. Someone who’s the pillar of a group/team isn’t necessarily the highest paid or most popular individual but the one who’s supportive, reliable, and dependable. They’re the glue that holds everything/everyone together, so to speak.
You can tell that Fubuki is all those things and a natural leader, just based on the high level of regard and respect she receives from both management and her fellow holomembers.
Seeing compilation of holomems getting all nervous like that made me feel "proud" comparing to how they are now😭❤️
On the one hand, the older talents were the pioneers and established forged the blueprint that newer talents would follow for debuts.
On the other hand, it's gotta be nerve-wracking to know that tens of thousands of people will show up for your debut (compared to pre-COVID days when Vtubers were largely unknown in the West).
I've got mad respect for all of them, because putting yourself under the scrutiny of strangers on the internet is pretty bold.

Korone's journey with OBS reminds me how I was the only student in my class to completely mess up his very first English (second language) homework and I felt so embarassed about it that it motivated me to become consistently the best English-speaker of my class for every following year of English study. And now I'm using all of it to talk about Vtuber streams with other people online... time well-spent.
Glad you passed through the painful moment to what you're doing right now! This actually motivates me hh thank you for sharing your story

10:06 the spicy part is that July 2019 was just 2 months after her debut, and Korone's success was anything but certain at that point. She started at ~50k subscribers and it took her until the end of the year to get to 100k.
Her big explosion in popularity only began in early 2020, when she went from 100k to 1 million in just a few months.
Today it's easy to see her debut as part of her weirdness that makes her one of the biggest vtubers ever, but at that time it was still a fresh and probably painful memory. She genuinely bled many viewers during the debut because it was so awkward and scuffed. At a time when just being in Hololive did not guarantee a decent viewership like it does today.
Korone's (and overall Hololive's) success is truly the stuff of legends.

And that’s when I found Korone, and fell in love with her personality and how fun her streams are. Even went and learned Japanese to understand her more.
She will always be my kami oshi, and this clips just makes me appreciate her more

Whenever I see/hear newer holomems or other VTubers cringe or complain about how bad their debuts were, I always think back to Korone's absolute trainwreck of a debut, and how she ended up just fine anyway.
Remember that nobody starts out amazing at something, it's dedicating time and practice that gets you there 👍

Small note: the translation of 初めましえ (hajimemashite) at 3:06 as "how do you do" should be changed to something like "Pleased to meet you!" or "Nice to make you acquaintance!", since 初めまして is something you'd only say on your first meeting, and "how do you do" is something you can say daily.

Korone has always been this wild card personality in Hololive. No one can predict what she will do next, and that drew me even more to her. From her debut alone, she's super unpredictable but super entertaining as well. Who would think to just say "Screw it. Let's play games!" in the middle of debut. She definitely fits her character so much.
tbh at this point after so many years this is a very valuable documentary to remember the beginnings of our beloved doggo, and for new fans as a history lesson! haha thank you for the hard work Egg-san 🙏
I only got into hololive a few months after Myth debuted. I didn't even start watching JP talents until late 2020. This is the first big glimpse I've had into older vtuber streams, and I did not know it was that different. I guess by Myth they mostly streamlined their process for debut streams and such. Another surprise is how different everyone's voices are. Mio's and Okayu's sound so relaxed, and Fubuki reminded me of debut Baelz. I guess it's time to dig into some pre-pandemic VODs.
