Having discovered You for your UO content I'm stoked to see your take on ITB!
It's one of my all time favorite games, the efficiency and elegance of all it's systems and they way information is conveyed is just so refined.
Never had a "small" game as much influence on my future love of tatics/strategy/mindbenders as this... Oh and yes, the OST is a straight up banger.
Thank you for the grind, Tom
a Pacific Rim mod for Into the Breach would be sick ngl 😂
ITB is absolutely legendary for a reason. FTL even moreso.
This game is absolutely brutal!
Yeah have this on my list, will move it up after this vid.
I kinda had the reverse situation to you. When the game first came out, it clicked with me almost immediately. I only list a single run and was winning all the time. I left it for a year or two and came back. It took me 12 runs before I won another run then I lost the next 5.
It unclicked for me during my break lol
I love strategy games, I love puzzle games but I almost always hate when a strat game feels like a puzzle game. I want to feel like I'm the one coming up with the best plan to beat a map when playing not figuring out what the only solution is. Big reason I couldn't get into Advance Wars as another example.
I got my hands on a physical copy of this game but haven't played it yet. Looks pretty fun though so I'll have to see about putting it higher up on my backlog list.
I played it for free as a Netflix subscriber. I loved it. Nice Spotlight TLM
there are some pilots that make things a LOT easier for certain squads, & there is THAT one Weapon that can trivialize the game if you know how to use it, but yea; this is a good game;
This game is great!
If you are taking suggestions for future spotlights, how about “Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters”? To be honest, I am not sure if you have featured that one yet, but just in case until I find it lol
Maybe just call it the “ Weekend Spotlight” LOL
😭
LOL just trying to be helpful boss. This way if you can do it Saturday, awesome. Otherwise you don’t have to “apologize” for needing to do it Sunday.
It's funny to me that you found this game so difficult to get into when I was the complete opposite. To me ITB was easier than games like Fire Emblem or UO. The tighter focus made it easier to figure out what works and doesn't in ITB, whereas I am often overwhelmed by the sheer number of options in other games and feel like I can never find a really good strategy without spending more time experimenting than actually playing the game. I think ITB does a good job of introducing it's basic mechanics, but not a good job of introducing good strategies (I ignored them for a long time but grid upgrades are essential IMO, the better chance your buildings and pylons have of surviving hits the better). I also think that FTL was just as obtuse about that sort of thing but it had a more popular theme so it got more of a pass than ITB did in that regard.
Oh, on mobile it is a Netflix game. Looks like it is free for Netflix subscribers, though not yet positive
