Funny enough this is one of the SF games I've spent the most hours on. Spent countless hours trying to beat Bison 2 as a kid. And I didn't even know the requirements to meet the secret fights. Kept trying via trial and error. Still loved this game though. I'd love to see an actual 3D designed street fighter.

Funny, because Arika developed their own fighting game with the original characters they made for the EX series called Fighting EX Layer... Hardly "swept under the rug" especially since they have paid SNK for Terry Bogard of SNK's Fatal Fury/ Garou to be a selectable character. Brotha Top Hat! Great video as always. FYI the PS1 port of the original arcade game released here in the U.S. which I own goes by “Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha” as announced after the movie intro in the game 😀.
I wish Arika & Capcom Released Street Fighter EX Collection with Fighting Layer as a Bonus & it includes both Arcade & Console Versions: Arcade = EX, EX Plus, EX2, EX2 Plus, Fighting Layer Console = EX Plus Alpha, SX2 Plus, EX3
The title is actually Fighting EX Layer. The Original Fighting Layer is also made by Arika, but its an old arcade title that was made sometime between EX2 & EX3 (some say it was before EX2 some say after, but its an obscure arcade title that pretty good honestly.)
Forgot to mention that, this is the 1ST SF Game to ever include Combo trials.... which is a very good feature to learn the game and the character of your choice. Not only that, it is very likely he Guard Crush attack inspired the Focus Attack in SF4.... Another thing to note... although this series has made a very good job covering the capcom fighters, no video has actually touched the Fighting Game Community subject matter, and In my opinion..... should be touched on
This game got a lot of hate when it was fresh. I really enjoyed it, primarily I think because I always looked at the SFEX games as their own thing, separate from the 2d SF games. This one has some fun mechanics and imo is one of the better 3d fighters from this period in gaming.
I really do like how you execute these history of Street Fighter videos. What I like is the collection of information you collect and some of it i didn't even know. I think it would be better if you did a video on both the original Fighting Layer and Street Fighter EX3 since here isn't too much info to disguss about Fighting Layer at least, or do that when you get to Fighting EX Layer. Probably makes more sense that way.
For me, going from beautifully animated 2D sprites with loads of character to flat, clunky polygons and a game with a choppy frame rate was a huge step backwards. I played it briefly to see what it was about and never returned.
Not to nit pick but its not "Ex Plus A" the "A" is actually the latin symbol for Alpha so its "Ex Plus Alpha" It does make differentiating it from the actual Alpha series more difficult but...well that's capcom for you lol.
