    That worked fantastically! Thanks so much for your video.
    I bought a SunSun 3 months ago and it took a solid two weeks of fiddling with it and watching RUclips videos to get it running (watched this one several times). Today I finally broke down and cleaned it out, expecting it to take hours at least to get it running again. But no, your method worked like a charm on the first try. Thanks so much!

    Great video! I ordered the sunsun 703b. It's on its way, I'm all excited because out of all the years of fish keeping. It will be my first ever canister filter.

    It's always easier to get a canister filter to prime if you have the output above the waterline so the air can escape. Great video. Might be the only one on youtube where it's done correctly.

    BRILLIANT Thank you so much dude.
    Couple of questions for you please.
    1) Regarding the UV light, if I’m not using the actual bulb. Do I need to install the bulb cover tube? I just noticed it looks like yours is installed without the bulb. Is that correct please?
    Love your method of priming it, can I just visually wait until I see a few inches of water starting to fill the outlet hose, then switch it on?

  • @ironhead320
    @ironhead320 8 лет назад +1

    after taking it apart i seen small drop of water inside the UV tube so i put some vaseline on it so far it seems ok i set the filer in a bucket because this morning when i woke up i had 5 gallon of water on my floor.

    how long have you been using lava rock ? how often do you clean the filter?

  • @_--Ghost--_

    want to improve your setup? I used to run 304b's for a few years and then I
    was informed from another hobbiest the correct way to use these. Run a
    hw603b pre-filter inline with this one you have shown (302) or the 304b
    and then remove all the filter pads out of the bigger canister and just
    fill it with media. clean the pre-filter once a month or as needed. you
    will improve your filtration a lot and never have to open your main
    canister and disturb your benefical bacteria again. I do this now on a
    bigger scale, i run a cfs-1000 as my prefilter and another inline with a
    cfs 14i as my main filter, and both are clear so i can see what is
    going on inside.

      your welcome it saves a lot of work as long as the intake hose keeps it siphon it works like a charm but even if it looses it and both intake and out put are clear of water you can still get it to auto prime just suck on the output and it will start the siphon back up and auto fill I am going to do a video on initial setup and also if the intake looses its siphon

    That fillter will have a lot of air in it it will over heat the pump sooner or later. A good idea is to start it b4 you pit it back under the tank. And nicely rock it side to side and ull see a lot of air come out. . Only takes a few minutes to clear all the air.. For peace of mine a good habit

    i still dnt know how to prime :( i just bought this canister. im used to hob where i put water in it before it runs. i guess thats priming. so i dnt have to put any water in the canister before starting it? i dnt want to burn the motor like i have read other people.. not sure how u burn a canister but dnt want it happening. pls help?

    • @SilentStrike889
      @SilentStrike889  8 лет назад

      are you first setting it up? if so set it up empty do not plug it in until you do these steps. 1 run the input hose to the tank if the quick release on the canister is in the front closest to you the input is on the left and the outlet hose is the right one. 2 run the outlet hose but keep it above the water level of the tank and suck on it and the canister will start filling. 3 when the water appears in the output hose to almost water level of the tank plug it in and rock the canister back and forth a couple times to release trapped air.

    • @Cowellini
      @Cowellini 8 лет назад

      +Matt's Aquariums forgive my lack of mental acuity on these, but when you said input.. is that the hose that sends water inside the canister? and output means hose that sends out water to the tank?

    • @Cowellini
      @Cowellini 8 лет назад

      +Matt's Aquariums i guess i figured it out by reading the "diagrammatic representation" lol and sorry i ddnt paid attention to that output thing in ur vid. i watch around 2 am when i get home from work :) so it is better to have carbon/chemical on the top. then bio in middle. i noticed most vids have same setup.

    How reliable have you found the sun sun?...what really sux is that for you guys it is a good cheap option...not as cheap for us in Australia...Price for a sun sun HW303A is $195 and for a HW303B with UV is $225 and that does not include postage. .you guys pay not much more than $80 for these + free shipping.....

    • @SilentStrike889
      @SilentStrike889  8 лет назад

      they nave not let me,my mom, or my grandfather down they have been running them for 2 years and I have been running them for 3+ years. Yeah we only pay $69 for them on eBay with uv. why are they so expensive there? import tax you would think it would be cheaper Australia is closer to China than the USA.

    • @MELODYMUNRO
      @MELODYMUNRO 8 лет назад

      Matt's Aquariums Yeah...considering the amount of trade we do with china, they should be cheaper...we can get other cheapo ones but they are almost guaranteed to be crap...pretty much everything is more expensive...eheim classic 350 (2215) on ebay australia is $215 + $22 postage...a 3.5kg (7lb) bag of flourite red premium plant substrate is $35 + $8 postage....and I could go on...

    • @tonycanniffe2360
      @tonycanniffe2360 8 лет назад +1

      You can get em cheaper in Aus. Got a 304b for under $100 on eBay. Some aquariums stock them too. Similar price in Brisbane. Mind you I saw a guy in the U.S. Who paid $39 for a slightly smaller one. Still had the UV light.

    • @malagabee
      @malagabee 7 лет назад

      Matt's Aquariums Aussies are unfriendly to the Chinese that's why. And why you buy cheap knockoffs anyways go buy the German Eheims. Twice the money for the same performance.
