    the a6700 is literally double the price of a mint condition used A7C. probably will jump to the a7c from my a6000. as a casual video taker, I'd love to have the burned in LUTs though. not needing to do color grading is huge

      Yes, and then searching up info on it and work done with it it's much of a camera for the price as I already had the lens.
      The funny part is the "same autofocus system" of the D200 is used in the D3400 but the D200 performs so much better it's not even close. Also the magnified VF is a big plus.@@GeorgeHolden

    I’m thinking about this combo. I had a Fuji X100F. But now next to my A7Siii here are the a6700.
    So this lens seems to be the closest to be a Fuji street setup. Compact and lightweight.
    What about the sharpness with this lens? And how accurate the AF in video with this lens?
    I’m a little bit afraid. Or it will be a better choice to buy a 24mm G? 🤔

    • @GeorgeHolden
      @GeorgeHolden  Год назад +1

      Having owned a couple of G full frame lenses like the 40mm I don't rate them as highly as they're priced, but still very good of course. The 20mm here was a gamble for me but has far exceeded my expectations - super fast, quiet and AF coverage across the frame. Sharpest in the middle but when you stop down the full frame sharpens up too. Having tested some other lenses this week that don't have AF coverage across the frame it's definitely strong

  • @GregStoddardMedia
    @GregStoddardMedia Год назад +1

    Thanks for an informative look into the camera's capabilities. Could I just ask when you were talking about the creative looks, are these just used for the viewfinder and screen image previews? Do these effect the RAW files or not?

    • @GeorgeHolden
      @GeorgeHolden  Год назад

      Good question! So yes they affect the live view options, also will be the looks in the JPEG. The broad category (neutral, vivid etc.) will effect the colour profile when you first open the RAW files. But in Lightroom you can change the colour profile after the fact when previewing your RAW files, if you have a Sony camera already you can try this - it's at the top of the developing panel on the right hand side of lightroom

  • @thedarkslide
    @thedarkslide Год назад +1

    I think this APS-C camera might be more appealing than the A7c and A7cII. I am not convinced by the audio from that mic in this video, there is just a tad too much reverb picked up on your interior shots, the outside recording sounds good.

    • @GeorgeHolden
      @GeorgeHolden  Год назад

      Yeah as someone who spent 3 years with the A7C I don't think the rumoured updates are significant enough to bet on the mark 2 or R. It needs a massive EVF upgrade 😅 and yes on the mic, my studio is a reverb factory - I typically use a shotgun which is much easier to control reverb

    • @thedarkslide

    This isn't the camera for me personally. I thought one of the strengths of APS-C (or MFT) is that they are smaller and more compact? This camera is huge compared to the a6300. It's been working out in the gym and injecting itself with some dodgy substances. It's comparable in size to the A7C so if you're going to be that size why not just go the whole hog and go Sony FF? Sure it's got lots of new whizz-bangs and 'the shiny stuff' but if it doesn't feel right in your hands, i.e. not an enjoyable experience it doesn't matter how flash the tech is inside it, I would leave it at home. I'm sure you've said that the ideal form factor for 'street' is something small and inconspicuous, which this is not. This is a very good camera , but not for me. Perhaps, I should consider a used a6300 without the latest whistles and bells as a photographic alternative to my ZV-E10? Nice work George you've got me thinking now. Liked and the YT algorithm likes comments, which all helps your fab channel.

    Hmmmn, seriously :)! I've been using the Sony A6000 series cameras for over ten years, and bought the a6600 four years ago, now ready for the a6700. These are the smallest, most discreet, compact apsc cameras on the market---Fuji has a new small one, about the same size, but Sony has been the leader in making sure that their camera bodies AND lenses are tiny and discreet. With this camera I've shot a good 40,000 images or more, after editing out the junk, so, yes, it is a beautiful camera for street photography; but of course, because it's hybrid, this is also an amazing video camera, and all in the top 1% of compact/light camera bodies/lens packages. If you want MORE discreet and tiny, but without zoom capabilities, use a cell phone :).

I just bought a Fuji XE2 and X100VI in addition to several other Fuji cameras. The thing these bodies lack is the great autofocus the Sony has. The Fuji and LUMIX autofocus is good enough for me.

Yes it got the latest super duper AI autofocus, video specs, IBIS etc so for a hybrid shooter I understand. But the flip out screen is not your friend and point of failure. 11fps still the same and yes it got the bigger battery, but the battery life in the tiny a6400 is already fantastic and the autofocus with realtime eye af and tracking is more than enough! And its 60% cheaper! But it all depends on what you do, but for the genre of street photography ONLY = save your money!
