    I currently own a WR250X.
    should I get the SWM SM500R?
    I don't want to loose reliability...

    Have they changed the gear ratio's? Added the counter balancer back in? lowered the comp ratio and reduced the heat build up? put a better pattern injector on it? Everything mentioned in the video is utterly pointless as it doesn't comment on what its actually like to ride and live with. And unless SWM has addressed these issues its about as far from a 'trail' bike as you can get. The TE510's were absolutely batshit ballistic, but with a close ratio box (and I mean REALLY close ratio, as close as a 125 2 stroke MX bike), very easily stalling, high vibes and horrendous heat output it makes them completely and totally useless as a dual sport or light use trail bike. They need to run at speed, and at a very specific speed +/- 20kph cause you can't gear them properly. Either you flog the clutch and stall all day, or you rev its nuts off at 8,000rpm on the road...

      Aidan Gillett I completely agree. I own a 2007 SMR 510. tried to put dirt tires on it and ride it off-road and I'm bogging the engine or stalling the whole time. plus, with these service intervals, it'll never be an adventure bike. 1000 km oil changes, 10,000 km to a piston and rings, if you don't overheat and blow a headgasket first. the parts are even more expensive than a KTM. If these new SWM parts are cheaper, maybe we can start getting reasonable parts. I can't afford to keep mine on the road.

      Anyone on here with the 2019 SWM S500R? Do you have any issues starting the bike hot? And does it start on gear other than neutral? I have a 2019 RS500R and see both these issues along with flareouts. I wonder if anyone has a good fix for these issues documented somewhere.

    really interested in a long term test, since none of the traditional Motorcycle mags test SWM bikes since as far as I have heard, they don´t provide test bikes for their street bikes in europe

    Great to see another entry in the lighter - weight, D/S - ADV capable stable. Considering how steep the learning curve can be for riding off road for most of us, hitting that sweet spot of power / weight / comfort / reliability could open the doors for the non - RTW explorers. What is likelihood of USA distribution? BTW Dave, I finally got my 2003 640 ADV dialed in and going on a local guided day tour next month. Anything more adventurous than that will have to wait a bit.

      @@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV OK, so I poked around a bit, found their webpage and found they did 9(!) written stories on it over their long term test, though brief. For some reason I couldn't find parts 5 or 6 on their web page, but if you just swap in the part number in the obvious spot in the URL it will show up. Here is the part 9, the last one before they had to turn it in. I get the impression they were big fans of it. adbmag.com.au/editorial/long-term-update-swm-rs500r-part-9/

    Hey, I looked at your profile for some more SWM but didn't find any videos. So wondering if You (or anyone else) have some opinion on Superdual X. I would like to commute with it but also try some light off road rides. My concern is its weight (169 kg dry) with 55 hp (not sure if its good ratio for some off road rides) ? Thanks ! :]

    $9,000 + ORC is a bargain for a 7 year old motorcycle? no thanks Jeff

    • @krazed0451
      @krazed0451 7 лет назад +3

      Find me a 7 year old bike with zero KM on it for the same money... There are plenty of other bikes in the same category that haven't had any dev work on them in the last 7 years, this thing is definitely cheap.

    • @rubberneckrides5940
      @rubberneckrides5940 7 лет назад +1

      you can pick these up second hand with next to no KMs on them for $5,000... I know used bikes is an unfair comparison but whether or not the bike is new, its still old kit

    • @krazed0451
      @krazed0451 7 лет назад +4

      Rubberneck Rides You mean like a KLR650 that's running 25year old motor tech? Or a multitude of similar bikes...

    • @rubberneckrides5940
      @rubberneckrides5940 7 лет назад

      krazed0451 what's your point? I would also argue that buying a brand new KLR at full retail price is not a bargain.

      Ronan Rogers do you communicate to your friends or colleagues in the workplace like this. Coz if you do, you'd have neither! Here's a hint as to what may have been more appropriate to write, "Hay mate, what happened with the bike build and long term test" . I would have replied, "Glad you asked. It fell in a heap. The bike went back and that was the end of that." And you may have replied, "Thanks for getting back to me." The internet doesn't give you licence to be rude.

      I'd honestly prefer a 250 if they havn't fixed the gearbox ratio's. Can jump from 1st the 3rd to 6th and it still only feels like you've gone up 2.5 gears
