We truly appreciate y'all watching the show! The comments and encouragement given to us has really been a shot-in-the arm! We could not do this without you guys.
listening to these stories make me home sick for driving my 18 wheeler. For several years I was a trainer for the company I worked for. I have several years and hearing these stories brings back some memories of those good old days.
I live near sandstone mountain. Me and my friend decided to drive home from work one day in his Hyundai Elantra back when we was 16. They said the car wouldn’t go above 98mph. That night, on sandstone mountain, we hit 131 mph. We almost hit the runaway truck ramp!!
I live about a hour and a half from Sandstone. Over the 30 years in a truck, I have been off there many times. I was asleep one night at the top and I felt the truck shake. I look out the curtain and see the top lights on a box truck start down. I got up and got dressed and started off. Low and behold guess who was in the run away ramp. I stopped to check on him. New driver, he was white knuckles, and almost in shock.
I'm so enjoying y'alls videos! Helps me get thru some sleepless nights, missing my hubby. But I can watch y'all, don't have to worry about hearing a bunch of foul language and y'all just give off a sweet spirit! And your guests are wonderful! I'm so thankful I found y'all, but I honestly believe it was a "God-wink." He knew I needed help dealing with grief and sent y'all my way! I laughed so much at the frog-gigging video I was almost ashamed of myself! We'd go camping next to the river & daddy would go frog gigging at night. He'd bring back a couple big frogs, cut the legs off and get momma to fry em for him. I can remember the first time I saw her fry up frog legs...I started screaming and she started laughing! I didn't realize them things would jump in the pan while they were frying!!! Momma laughed so hard she cried! Next time daddy brought her frogs to fix and she'd holler for me to come see em, I'd take off running! We'd camp in the bed of daddy's pickup, so I'd crawl in there and hide!! They teased me about that til even after I was married!! Y'all brought back some good, funny memories and I so appreciate that! God bless y'all, from VA! 😂🐸🙏
I didn't even realise the significance of losing your brakes as a trucky. I was like, "just downshift lol" but then he said "if you can't get back into a gear it's even worse". Like, shit, yeah, a truck hurtling down a mountain in neutral sounds a hell of a lot worse than being in too high of a gear.
Couldn’t wait to get home and watch y’all and again was not disappointed. The best part of all animals is the organs. You either love em or not. Great video. Also I’m not being not picky. But Highway is spelt wrong on the Vantage ad.
@@terryclark1952 Good to see you again, friend. I think you are right on the organ meat. I will look at the spelling. Thanks for letting us know and watching the show👍🏻
As I’ve said before I love yalls podcast! I love to listen to this when I’m traveling, makes me feel at home. I’m an entertainment tech major, and I have a few questions: what’s the story about Hayden? Why did you guys decide to set up shop there? Also, I’m a nerd, so would you be able to do a little video showing behind the scenes and the gear you use? I see you use SM58s but I’d love to see what kind of equipment you all use to make all this happen.
@@jackrowe5146 Thank you so much! We really appreciate the listen and encouragement. Hayden is a small southern town that we have an affinity to because it is where we were born and raised. We will try to put a behind the scenes video together. But until then, the equipment consists of Audiotechnica Atr2100 mics, focusrite 8i8 interface, Macbook Pro, and iPhones.
Yes you can but the engine will only brake a little bit. The weight of the truck being pulled down hill will outmatch the braking force of the engine alone. Even using something like a jake brake or exhaust brake can be overpowered by being pulled downhill
@@jonathanwalkup4010 I'm from Louisiana, but I've done a whole lotta work from Louisiana to Pennsylvania. I've got stories from small towns all over the Appalachians that I passed through. I'll always live in Louisiana, but the Appalachians and the black hills of South Dakota always felt extra special to me
bullshit on the brakes if you run out of air, the spring brakes automatically apply, knocking over cones in construction zone, u trying to kill someone, that is so irresponsible, you should be very proud of yourself
When we say "we have no air" we don't mean there is no air in the system it just means we have no control over the air. The problem doesn't come from having empty tanks, it comes from the brake pedal and valves not properly controlling the air. You can push the brake pedal with ten thousand psi in your tanks keeping your brakes unlocked and still have no brakes if your pedal valves are faulty.

When the brakes fail can't you just turn off the truck while its in gear as I know the engine can act as brake when in gear
That wouldn’t even come close to slowing a eighteen wheeler
