THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO. i bought one a few days ago, hopeful but wishing I had more information. I am trying to wait patiently and this video makes me very happy!
This is such a great video :) like your voice, and easy walkthrough it :) I want to get the cheesy sound and really use the box as it is. You don't mention a price? Did you bought it? or was it on loan I can get one for 260€ fair price? 315$ , not sure if thats a fair price..
Dig the video. Purchased mine a few months back because I've been missing that old, menu diver, dub it out as best you can with what you got workflow. I like it a bunch. Limiting myself is paying off in dividens and I miss the 90's I gotta use what I got to the best of my ability mindset. Using it with a few other machines and a Rk008. The RX5's outs are going to BX16 mixer I pulled out and finally found a great use for. So far I'm more happy goofing with this machine and a few other old pieces than I've been for a long time. Needed these limitations in my life again. Good video and honest. 🤙
I hear that. I wish I had sampled it before letting it go, into my Gemini DS-824. Maybe I could borrow one. I never dove too far into the RX5 honestly. After using DAWS and MPCs it's hard for me to bend my mind enough to a particular machine. Imagine if they had put a 909 kick in the original instead of the kick they did? That would have been epic. But the kick on the RX5 is still solid. As are all the sounds. I was going to use it with the MPC Live controlling it but I have the sample set from MARRS so decided to forge ahead. Now I'm using the Live, Koala or my old laptop with Windows 7 and Acid 7. I am in heaven. I use the Live as my sample input if I need to work something in Acid. Just use a USB drive and boom. Or vice versa. Forget all the vintage samplers for me. The file management is intolerable at times.
@@vintagestereos Yep. I get it. I like Koala too. Very cool. So I ordered a sound cartrage for the RX from a company called, PharmaSonic and get this, it comes preloaded with an 808 and a 909 kit. Oh crap I'm relistening to the vid as I'M TYPING and you just mentioned the pharmasonic card. Oh man all of a sudden I'm stuff on this thing. I've been sending it data from the RK008 and boy is this fun. HA. I was just gonna share my discovery that you had already discovered many moons ago. Cool. Have a good one.
Oh too bad. I ended up selling it soon after getting it. I have all the samples I need of it and the workflow was cool and all but was overall quite dated. Still very cool machine though. A beast in its day.
@@erikkun4571 Mine originally didn't have a power connector or power switch, so I fixed that. After that, all the red lights stay powered on and the screen comes on with no text, so that's where I'm at now. If yours doesn't power at all then it's probably one of the two voltage regulators near the power connector that need to be replaced.

Very similar to the RY30 which I loved.
You can edit the sounds. In extreme ways ! ☺
Amazing how you don t dig into it. You can use a custom card to import your own samples and then tweak the samples. That is the magic.
Really, can you get a card for the rx7 too?
@@sonicboomtown1988 i only know this
about the rx5.
@@klinkske true. Good feature and sounds like it expands it greatly. Cool.
Who produces these custom cards? How do you load your own samples into the RX5? Thanks a million for the advice💙
@@karljanus8308 do a search on rx5usb
The USB cartridges have been discontinued and are hard to come by.
