I have a little personal bias towards Kanpur but the fact that it has the most rigorous and strict curriculum makes me little uncomfortable to choose Kanpur. doing Mtech in CSE doesnot depend on which stream you had in btech.Admission for mtech on cse or any branch depends only on GATE exam.If you doing btech in electronics then also you can do mtech in cse in any college.For that you have to give GATE CS exam.

That depends on your Category If you are in SC/ST definitely IISC,IITB If you are in OBC - may be Low level IITS ,Top NITS If you are in General - Mid NITS

They demand maths heavy background from it's employees for example gold medals in any national level maths olympiad, etc. Matter of fact, very few undergrad students from computer science and electrical branch get to sit for placement, let along other branches😂. And folks coming for Mtech cse in IITs are obviously weak in mathematics because mostly they are coming from tier 2-3 colleges. Hence, they might get to sit for placements in these companies but won't able to get the job as there are more deserving folks in the undergrad.
The biggest problem is that most of IITs , NITs and IIITs are not allowing Core branches to admit in mtech cse. Thay have clearly mentioned in their website. Please make a detailed video in this topic. This is a big demotivation. Rank aa vi jaye toh uska karu kya agar eligible hi nahi hun
dude as far as I know , a student who has done btech irrespective of his/her branch can opt for gate cse in the top 7 IITs.. dunno bout nits and iiits but I think for IITs its good cuz after top 7 I dont think anyone targets below ranking IITs

NIT Trichy MTech CSE Average package (last 3 years) is around 25 LPA.. NIT Surathkal MTech CSE Average is around 20 LPA.
