I think Kuni knew that nanami would come and save chibi and that if they both went further out to sea, they would've both drowned, so Kuni, in reality, sacrificed his life for chibi... OR DID HE!?!?
+LuigiGodzillaGirl He might have been trying to drown Chibi, after all it seems like Akuro had control over him sense the beginning. (I don't remember..)
So far I've liked the boss battles in this game far more than the ones in Okami. While those were "regular" and relied on the usage of some of the brush techniques, these actually include some quite challenging puzzles and I find it really nice. Kudos to the developers
People, stop saying Kuni tried to kill Chibi. First, he blocked the log to keep it from hitting Chibi, then when Chibi reached him anyway, he pushed him off. Kuni didn't think he was going to survive, Akuro and Kuni were two different people at this point. Kuni didn't think he was going to survive.
Actually, I think the log was going to push them both out to sea where they couldn't swim back, so Kuni pushed Chibi, who was trying to save him at the risk and maybe cost of his own life, off the log. The scene really doesn't do a good job of showing this, though.
When I played through this game, Kuni sacrificing himself for Chibi... was the one moment, out of all the games I've played (which is a lot) to ever make me cry.
Emile, thank you for showing everyone here such a beautiful game! I love it so much, but that cutscene as you leave Agata Forest (avoiding spoilers) made me so frickin' sad when I first played the game... Still to this day it gets to me! D':
it isnt the whiskers on a catfish that will hurt you it is being stuck by their fin which has a very sharp bone sticking out of it and it hurts a lot if you get bit by a catfish.
The wet and dry jewels are based on a story too, Chugga. They were based on a story where a Japanese empress asks Ryujin for help on an attack against Korea. Ryujin gives her the low-tide and the high-tide jewels, which is used to dry up the waters in ocean and drown Korean soldiers when they got out of their ships.
There's a lot of things I just don't understand. Why was there a modern electrical switch in a pagoda in old Nippon? Why does flood the forest? And why doesn't Kuni let go off the log?
3:20 in star ocean till the end of time there are items that restore both hp and mp i can guarantee you will be using those items in the game if your mp reaches 0 it acts as if you are dead/knocked out even if you have full hp
In the Legend of Zelda games, there is a catfish who caused earthquakes and if you threw an offering in his pool, he would stop making quakes. The catfish story is like Magicarp evolving into Gyarados :3
that catfish is based of the same myth about the earthquake causing spirits. also he gives you an earthquake power and if you throw rocks on him he attacks you with quakes which makes sense since in the mythology a hero stopped these spirits by placing giant stones on their back so they couldn't cause the earthquakes.
RE: The mask puzzle at the beginning of the episode. The game just giving you the solution there might be a result of a bit of a design oversight; If you didn't memorize or somehow forgot the clue they gave you in the last video, by the time you get to that statue there is no way to backtrack and find it. Hence giving you another clue.
The fins of a catfish have sharp barbs. If they flail around, they can stab you pretty bad. Alot of fish researchers will snap the barbs (doesn't hinder the catfish at all, oddly) when they get them to avoid being stabbed, so I guess it happens quite often.
Pretty sure you know this, but if you hit Bullhead while he's swimming around the island, it desn't do damage but he drops ink and health. Very handy when you have the rosary, you can just beat on him and get your health and ink back up.
14: 48 Oh god, not another cuteness overload... god I- I think I´m going to...*everything blacks out* -"Wh-What happened?" - "You suffered a cuteness overload, it was so adorable that you fainted." That was what my dad told me. So, my dad says that if I watch another Okamiden LP from Chugga, he would smack my face into the keyboañfjkluhavñañui qtyio{TU9 ñpht.
4:53 for anyone who wonders why magikarp evolves into gyarados, from useless to water-type god, this boss is inspired by that same "word of wisdom". The carp must jump over the waterfall and the dragon arch to become a dragon. The meaning; to get far in your wants, you must work hard. That's why magikarp is so weak and becomes so powerful. It's showing you the fruits of your labor.
Considering how Chibi's power slashes and Kuni's sword slashes knock back enemies and projectiles instead of cutting open wounds, they must have had really blunt swords in Ancient Japan of Okamiden. And they had sharp ones in Okami!
The episode you're talking about was aired in latin america, or at least in Venezuela, because I remember watching it as a kid. The one with the giant Tentacruel who talked by possessing Meowth
actually Emile I think an item that heals both heath and whatever else is convenient in my book because then if you're in a tight spot where you need both health and whatever else then you don't take two turns just to heal both things
They probably wouldn't have a way to climb up while there was a lot of rushing water. Not to mention that they're still at young ages and probably didn't think to climb up the log. Who knows why though.
There is actually a japanese legend where, and my knowledge is a little rusty, that if a carp jumped over a waterfall it would become a dragon. I am 100% certain that Nintendo used this legend when designing the pokemon magikarp and gyarodos.
If you haven't watched Doctor Who, Weeping Angels are stone statues that move when you blink or look away (It's a little complicated for people that don't watch doctor who)
the reason that they didnt have you remember the face is that it would have been difficult for the programmers to register a shape group that complex, the guidelines were the easiest way to do that, however, if the guidelines were invisible it would have been difficult for the player to understand where to draw.
Because if it had just been a shove, Chibi, being the selfless pup that he is, would have continued to hang on and would have gone over with the log. And there wasn't much current anymore, as was evidenced when Chibi just floated away after Kuni knocked him away, the log was moving all on momentum. Please try thinking.
Guys, Kuni knocked Chibi off the log to save him because he knew that he was stuck and he wanted Chibi to survive. He didn't do it to save himself. This is KUNI we're talking about. He's not a jerk.
Actually, the cat fish's whiskers are fairly harmless. They act as sensors, and touching them will probably hurt the cat fish more then you. However, catfish do have stringers in their dorsal and pectoral fins, and they can actually be quite dangerous. However, this catfish seems to be based on the Electric Catfish, which are native to Africa, that function kinda like Electric eels.
When Chidi and Kuni were washed away, I was sitting here shouting for Ammy to get her furry ass down here and save them, she can run on water for heavens sake!!!
"I am not a catfish! I am a 'Magicarp!'" That is what popped into my head when he said he was a carp and would become a dragon.
And of course once I post this Chuggaa mentions it.... Maybe I should wait till the end of an episode before I comment on anything
yes
One liners for beating bosses so far
Master Anura: I'll have some frog legs.
Witch Queen: The witch queen passes away.
Bullhead: Who wants sushi?
I cant even tell if Kuni screwed Chibi or saved his life! Which is it?!
Jorge Soto Saved
Stefan Reimann Then why didn't Kuni just simply get out of the way of the log?
Jorge Soto it was moving too fast
Stefan Reimann Yet he could give the whole speech why only one could survive and hit Chibi off with ease with that thing hitting his gut?
i dont even know
Everytime Chibi does his little awooo my heart shatters like dropped glass
I love the carp dragon story! I tell it to my goldfish sometimes. It makes them happy :)
first: that's weird
second: i do the same with my plushies
third: it's cute
i loved the scene with kuni helping mutt. it shows that they developed a huge friendship in a short amount of time
I wish they make a 3ds remake
Alejandro Arredondo agreed
you can still play ds games on the 3ds a remake is unnecessary
@@judaiyuki5597 it'd still look neat with more hd graphics. Too bad the 3DS is decomissioned now
I think Kuni knew that nanami would come and save chibi and that if they both went further out to sea, they would've both drowned, so Kuni, in reality, sacrificed his life for chibi... OR DID HE!?!?
when i first played this, I berated Kuni for being a jerk, but now that I watch this again, I can't tell if he was intending to save Chibi or himself.
+LuigiGodzillaGirl
He might have been trying to drown Chibi, after all it seems like Akuro had control over him sense the beginning. (I don't remember..)
LuigiGodzillaGirl i'm pretty sure he was saving chibi concidering chibi would have died of that
No, Akuro only got to him later.
@@mycatboo3152 thanks for the spoiler you peice of shit

As is seen by Akuro leaving the delusional catfish.
Another great, vid, Chugga. Evil cliffhanger notwithstanding, of course. Looking forward to the next one! Keep up the brilliant work! :)

KUNI YOU WILL BE PUNISHED FOR TRYING TO SACRIFICE A GID!!!
10:28 "What do you mean I did badly on DIE?!"
16:46 "LIKE ZOINKS, SCOOB!"
The day is always better with a new Chuggaaconroy video.
I guess you could say, Bullhead was catfishing!
Just no............. Stop plz
ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY PIECE OF PAPER ALL DEMONS OF THE LAND FEAR IT

I salute to you Kuni as I salute my fellow Marines and those lost on this day

Nice touch, leaving out music at the end and letting the atmosphere of the picture take over.
it isnt the whiskers on a catfish that will hurt you it is being stuck by their fin which has a very sharp bone sticking out of it and it hurts a lot if you get bit by a catfish.
Wow the cutscene at the end of this video is intense 0_0 good job Chuggaaconroy 8D

Chuggaa, I'm not going to lie. Watching you have so much fun at this is probably equally entertaining to watching you fail at the breather parts.
referencing pokemon. a carp becoming a dragon. way to go okamiden. props for good referencing
I know i said this 20 eps. Ago but.... its good to have you back chugaconroy!

"I'm a carp and soon I will become a dragon" pókemon reference (magicarp)

ahh, the part where Kuni saved Chibi... so many feels. ;_;
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!!!!!!
10 years later, and still no one comments on the fact that this 5-story pagoda in ancient Japan has an electrical control box...
Man, this has to be the most badass and ferocious Magikarp I have seen in my life.
15:15 You should've murmured "I didn't do badly on time!" We love you ranting about your time in battles!
what are you talking about chuggaa? the items that restore both are usually great.
I tend to not use Elixer's because of how valuable they are.
Pretty sure you know this, but if you hit Bullhead while he's swimming around the island, it desn't do damage but he drops ink and health. Very handy when you have the rosary, you can just beat on him and get your health and ink back up.
that last part gets you right in the heart man
when the statue started moving it reminded me so much of the weeping angels from doctor who

Hey would it be cool if okami was in iPhone ,iPad ,& iPod ?
I love you're videos
why because you are SO funny no jokes :D
I love how the catfish is clearly delusional thinking himself to be a different species in disguise... It's just so out of left field...
Considering how Chibi's power slashes and Kuni's sword slashes knock back enemies and projectiles instead of cutting open wounds, they must have had really blunt swords in Ancient Japan of Okamiden. And they had sharp ones in Okami!
Super-effective on rocks and fish. Clearly, Kuni's sword is a Grass-type attack.
16:04 why is there a power box in old Japan?
The scene at the end made me cry when I first played through.
4:06 Why is Volt Catfish in the wrong game?
The mythology he talked about the catfish causing earthquakes in Japan was named Namazu if you want to read more about it. Quite interesting.
wishcash is also based on that carfish story... In a pokedex entry it says that wishcash can do earthquakes with its whiskers.
Okay, this game shouldn't be allowed to be this cute AND this epic. It's just too much.
The episode you're talking about was aired in latin america, or at least in Venezuela, because I remember watching it as a kid. The one with the giant Tentacruel who talked by possessing Meowth
Everytime I see that scene, I always say Chibi is saying "Nooooooo" in slow-motion. Kuni you brave boy. :)
what about Whiscash ;is based on Namazu, a catfish in Japanese mythology which caused earthquakes.
5:40-5:50

Hey Chugga where do get those pictures at the end of the videos? I really like the ones with kuni and chibi
gotta love how theres a circuit box in a pagoda in feudal japan. then again, to avoid spoilers, lets say this isnt the worst of it thought xD
I always question how chugga comes up with voices for various characters.
I LOVE the music in the 5 story pagoda!
the reason that they didnt have you remember the face is that it would have been difficult for the programmers to register a shape group that complex, the guidelines were the easiest way to do that, however, if the guidelines were invisible it would have been difficult for the player to understand where to draw.
And since he uses a wooden sword, he's probably a Grass/Fighting-type, which explains why he hates the flying imps even more!
What's that music at 16:20-ish? I can't find the name for it anywhere.
What about adding Steel-type to Magnemite?
Actually the whiskers on some species of catfish are barbs, so yeah they can hurt you pretty bad.
are the wet and dry jewels based on the tide jewels from the seiryu myth?
@Okami Chibiterasu thanks I'll tell my platoon that you think of us
OMG!!! just like the gyrados the went up the waterfall in the pikachu short of the 2nd pokemon movie! mind=blown!
