To me nothing tops Drew vs Roman. In ring it was just incredible but the story it told, the near falls, for me it’s the first time sense Mania 37 I actually thought Roman might lose, the false cash in, and then the incredibly shocking finish with Solo and Roman retaining. Absolutely incredible stuff. Plus Solos interference was awesome because this was before it was done to death and ruined Wrestlemania
Yeah being there live it was even more believable. Literally everyone around me felt a title change coming. Solo's interruption was so well done that no one saw it coming.
Nahhh too much pointless outside interference. fury, kross, theory, all meaningless. It was a typical roman main event. Slow, mostly uneventful until te last 5 minutes and then outside interference. I think that match gets WAYYY too much praise
I was at Mania 37. During that triple threat match, 25 and a half thousand people sounded like 60 thousand the place was so electric for that match. I legit thought Edge would win before Jey interfered. Also the double submission spot is one of my favorites of all time
That Logan Paul match has no business being as fire as it is. I did think the Edge match at mitb deserves an honourable mention, but this list is great. A lot of these matches are quite fun - especially the KO one for example. Had Cody one, that would have been a phenomenal match too.
With Logan Paul- he has no business being as good as he is; I think we all wanted to see him crash and burn and be forced to acknowledge he isn't as great as he presented himself to his under-10 fanbase (and some of us still do), but he's bee annoyingly good at portraying a decent babyface despite putting in seemingly zero effort and bugger-all experience. (Who knows, maybe his RUclips career makes him used to having some form of kayfabe?)
@Rest in peace bro no, this story will end when it deserves to end (wether that be Summerslam or Wrestlemania next year) not when you toxic crybaby fans THINK it should end. That’s all.
The list just shows how underrated his match with Seth Rollins at Rumble 2022 was 👍 a masterpiece of story telling, an electric crowd, and a great match 💎 (the finish may annoy some of you guys but it was perfect for that specific match) 💚
I know a lot of people aren’t all in on it, but I LOVE the Kevin Owens match so much. The story, the way how everyone kinda thought KO was losing, the near falls…all of it was really compelling to me. It isn’t the best match, but it for sure is one of my personal favorites.
The ones with Drew and the Lesnar tractor ones are the standout ones for me. Shoutout to Owens (Royal Rumble 2021), WM37 and the Jey Uso series as well
0:50 the answer is he had 3 months to rehearse that one match while being trained by HBK according to John Morrison. Imagine if any other WWE star was given 3 months to practice for one match, while receiving 3 months of coaching directly from Shawn Michaels. Nia Jax would even look like a special talent with that sort of treatment
Roman vs Cody is number one for me. the title has never been in that much jeopardy and the crowd were absolutely on board. add to that the incredible match and it was something special.
I'm actually kinda sad that Roman/Bryan from Fastlane 2021 didn't make the list. Not only was it a damn good match, but it had possibly one of my favorite unsung moments from any WWE match I've seen. Roman just can't put Bryan away, and it gets to the point where Bryan has him locked in the Yes Lock for the second time. This is the closest anyone has ever gotten to besting Roman, and you know this because of perhaps the best selling job ever. It's all in his eyes. Pay attention to the last moments of the match again. Roman's eyes tell the whole story. He lost. He knows he lost. He's sad, he's broken, and he knows just can't continue anymore. The pressure of being head of the table had caught up with him completely out of nowhere. And ROMAN REIGNS TAPS. Of course this is right before Wrestlemania, so special guest ref Edge fucks it all up by killing everyone and leaving, so the ending sucked. But God dammit, those eyes. Those were the eyes of a broken man, and that alone propels this match into legendary status for me.
and yet there is so many honorable mentions, his match with Riddle on smackdown, his match with Bryan at Fastlane is very underrated, his match with Edge at MITB, the one with Rollins at Rumble was really good until the finish it was a good three years
Probably very bias as a Canadian but Sami in Montreal. That crowd made the impossible feel like a sure thing at times and while it ended pretty flat it was just so good.
Agreed. Legit one of my favorite matches (despite the ending) because of the crowd. It really helped that the Sami Zayn Bloodline story is one the best slow burns WWE has ever pulled off. I honestly think Sami should have gotten a rematch at Wrestlemania and won. Him ending Roman's reign is pretty much the perfect possible end to the story.
I'm honestly shocked at the optimism about Cody beating Roman eventually. Honestly, I'm not sure. And I still don't think it will matter just the same. For certain stories, the babyface losing the first title match with a dirty finish after an incredibly valiant performance is actually a great start of a redemption arc, it's actually better to lose that first match. But this is not that story because this was *already* told as a redemption arc and not just for Cody, but for his own family, as no other Rhodes main evented WrestleMania or won the top WWE title. And he *failed*. The way the story was told, the best result and the most important in turning a star who's over into a megastar who can be a top draw is victory right away. Also, he's now feuding with Lesnar and he's not a big guy, so you better believe that if they have a straight up single match, Cody is gonna lose. Maybe he will eventually have a rematch with no dqs where he triumphs over Lesnar, but you can bet money he will lose the first one. No way Cody beats Lesnar clean in a single match. And if he loses two big matches like these to the two guys who have been booked for years as the two top stars of the company, he will be just like anybody else. And that's how you kill what made him special since his return.
I have a sentimental liking for Roman's match against Cena at SummerSlam 2021, probably because I know it's one of Cena's likely last World title matches he'll ever have.
That match was way better than everyone seems to remember. Cena did not look nearly as old then as he did at mania this year. And that AA through the announce table gave me that old big match John feel that’s been missing wether people want to admit it or not
Adam actually not being negative on a Wrestling list? I can't even remember the last list in which Adam was complimentary about modern wrestling even if he was talking about the 10 best something. Seems like the Bloodline and Roman Reigns' heel run has revived some of that old love of Wrestling for him as it did for me.
I still think Manias ending was the right call. Codys run to the top was too easy and Solo costing Cody is chefs kiss after all the trashtalk cody tried
I think alot of people who consider his road to Mania too easy are focusing too much on just the Roman stuff. Finishing the story wasn't just about the story that began when he won the Rumble in January, it was about the journey he'd be on since his release in 2016. He left as a joke with Stardust and came back 6 years and a total reinvention on the independent scene later as a credible main eventer who then battled through the Hell in a Cell with a torn pectoral muscle. Whilst the adversity he faced wasn't caused directly by Roman he still faced plenty, and imo he didn't need to face anymore before reaching the top of the mountain
Adam, can I suggest a better world Title reign for this century? Kurt Angle's first reign, sure it wasn't anywhere near as long, but as a cowardly heel being chased down by HHH, Austin, Rock and The Undertaker while thwarting Commissioner Foley and hanging with E&C. Glorious!
Crazy to think that the Tribal Chief has some great matches to his name now after he was one of the most hated champions in wrestling history for a while!
Someone's been watching their Amadeus, loved that reference, especially after rewatching Joseph Montecillo's Danielson v McGuinness trilogy (would ABSOLUTELY recommend) that used that theme of Mozart v Salieri too
Nahhhh. Best world title run of the century is still Okada’s 4th IWGP Heavyweight champion run. Man was putting some of the best matches of all time on a monthly basis and became the second longest Japanese champion of all time.
His last man standing match with KO was fantastic and, probably deserves to be a little higher on the list, IMO. And, his match with Daniel Bryan on that episode of Smackdown was almost perfect, like the Jey Uso match. Bryan elevates anyone he works with and, made Roman look like a killer. Roman is good but, he needs a good dance partner to be great. Bryan is a great example of that.
The Roman Reigns/Jey Uso story was brilliant, and yet still feels unfinished... This is why Jey also needs to be the one to end the run. He stood and watched the monster grow, knowing exactly what Roman is like having felt it himself. He needs to be the one to cut the head off the monster and take his title.
My top 10 1. Roman Reigns vs Jey Uso HIAC 2. Roman Reigns vs Jey Uso Clash of Champions 3. Roman Reigns vs Drew Mcintyre CATC 4. Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes WM 39 5. Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar Summerslam 6. Roman Reigns vs Sami Zayn Elimination Chamber 7. Roman Reigns vs Edge vs Daniel Bryan 8. Roman Reigns vs Kevin Owens TLC 9. Roman Reigns vs Riddle Smackdown 10. Roman Reigns vs Daniel Bryan Fastlane
The fact that he put Logan and Sami Zayn’s match but not John Cena’s match at Summerslam is baffling. John Cena and Daniel Bryan were most likely the only 2 people that I saw dethroning Roman. Cena had near falls and Bryan made him tap out. But also Cody as well. They made everyone believe he was gonna do the unthinkable. He may be able to beat Roman at one of the ppv matches. But I needed to happen at WM. I don’t think anyone is going to want him to keep the title that long. Unless maybe they have him face new/different talent. Instead of having him face the same people more than once or twice.
Imagine if the most dominant champion in a generation fell over at the first hurdle because of the light breeze of 2 in ring promo exchanges with no physical altercation 🙄
It surprised me too but having seen how happy WM was making me up to that point, I should've saw it coming. I guess they're really wanting to see him hit a thousand days as champion. All things considered, we really should have known they'd go for that.
Seriously??? No Roman vs Rollins??? The only guy that Roman never beat clean? The storytelling of this match was phenomenal. Yes it ended in a DQ, I DON'T CARE. Seth was in Romans head. The only guy that claim that Roman never bear him. They have the history, the chemistry and the match was PHENOMENAL. IT DESERVES TO BE TOP 5 FOR ME!!!
I feel like one of his matches with AJ Styles in 2016 should have been included. I know that his current reign is prolific, but he did have some good title defences back in the Big Dog days.
Yeah, that match between Roman and Main Event Jey Uso deserves to be at the top of the list. Not only the action and drama was great, this also made Jey a ready man when he goes solo. Great list as always Adam! 👍
Am I the only one who finds it a tad ironic that Adam said that the top entry (being jey vs roman) was simple effective storytelling that works..."but it wont now that vince is back" do people need reminding that the early story beats of Roman's tribal chief character that he is praising so much were actually booked by Vince?
My top 10: 1- WM37 triple threat 2- Roman vs drew McIntyre (CATC) 3- Roman vs brock lesnar (summerslam 2022) 4- Roman vs Cody Rhodes (WM39) 5- Roman vs Sami zayn (EC) 6- Roman vs KO (RR 2021) 7- Roman vs Jey Uso (HIAC) 8- Roman vs Logan Paul (Crown jewel) 9- Roman vs Cesaro 10- Roman vs Daniel Bryan
I had forgotten about the other KO match. I always just think of the Rumble Last Man Standing match, that he technically should have won, when the ref stopped counting, when Heyman couldn't get the handcuffs unlocked.
I find it criminal that Roman Reigns vs Edge at Money in the Bank 2021 isn't on the list. I would definitely put that match over the Cesaro and Kevin Owens matches, no matter how great those matches were.
for Me vs Daniel Bryan at Smackdown was the best Match and Triple threat at mania 37 was on second. Was hoping for the Cesaro match to appear on the list
Cesaro vs reigns because I was in denial about it and actually convinced myself that they would end that reign at a b show against Cesaro with like 2 minutes of build
Also celebrating the Montreal crowd over Cardiff seems odd, the Clash crowd drowned out the entrances with noise, it was unbelievable. Montreal loud but not a patch.
Really goes to show how good Reigns title run has been when classics such as Cena at Summer Slam, Edge at Money in the Bank, Bryan at Fastlane and Rollins at the Royal rumble all don’t make the list
That jab at Vince at the end makes no sense. He was literally head of creative when the jey feud happened so to say we won't get stuff like that now that he's back is hilarious 😂
Roman vs Drew made me legit think Reigns was gonna lose. I was so mad when the ref almost counted to 3, only for Solo to appear, Still, a very great match
You know what if they can make Cody's story of chasing the title mean something and build off his loss at Mania then great make Cody look strong in defeat and show why he needs to be the guy to beat Roman, I just hope that they dont drop the ball with this because it has the promise of being a great story
His rivalry with jey is still probably my favourite. Alongside with (Kevin owen, Edge and daniel bryan,Drew and brock) the build up and story leading to that very moment was spectacular.
Either Sammy or Cody. I so badly wanted Cody to win, I thought it was the time, but as you say let's not let a disappointing 15 seconds mar greatness. I have a special place for him Vs Seth at rumble 22 - it's a ppv I was invited to watch with my friends that made me sit up and go, 'oh this wrestling things actually pretty neat'
Plus Solos interference was awesome because this was before it was done to death and ruined Wrestlemania
nope. Roman vs Edge vs Daniel Bryan
When I say I was flipping livid when Solo pulled the ref out of the ring, I mean I jumped out of my seat hollering at my TV.

Watch some more triple threats 😂😂😂 the double submission so stupid mans can tap and no winner 😂😂😂😂😂
That Logan Paul match has no business being as fire as it is.
I did think the Edge match at mitb deserves an honourable mention, but this list is great. A lot of these matches are quite fun - especially the KO one for example. Had Cody one, that would have been a phenomenal match too.

Agree completely with the #1 spot. This entire Roman Reigns storyline practically revolves around the dynamic between Roman and Jey
Fr, I feel like that storyline doesn’t get enough attention tho since then
Bryan and Roman have great chemistry. Fastlane 2015, Fastlane 2021, Wrestlemania 2021, Smackdown. All bangers
Yes!!! Well said.
Totally
Yeah it's called Bryan is a good wrestler and can carry anyone to a good match. Even boring ass big dawg.
The Jey Uso match at Clash of the Champions 2020 was a masterclass in storytelling
Main Event Jey Uso
The ending of roman vs cody wasn't good but the match and story itself was a masterpiece.
It was good
💯💯💯
@Rest in peace bro no, this story will end when it deserves to end (wether that be Summerslam or Wrestlemania next year) not when you toxic crybaby fans THINK it should end. That’s all.
EVERYTHING was a masterpiece of Roman vs Cody ESPECIALLY the ending. Keep crying and try again.
i feel as if the time was right for cody but the story isnt over and itll be very satisfying when cody really does win
The list just shows how underrated his match with Seth Rollins at Rumble 2022 was 👍 a masterpiece of story telling, an electric crowd, and a great match 💎 (the finish may annoy some of you guys but it was perfect for that specific match) 💚
To me, it was one of the rare moments where the DQ didn't annoy me because it made sense in the story and it felt earned
I know a lot of people aren’t all in on it, but I LOVE the Kevin Owens match so much. The story, the way how everyone kinda thought KO was losing, the near falls…all of it was really compelling to me. It isn’t the best match, but it for sure is one of my personal favorites.
"When Drew McIntyre returned to his hometown of Wales, Scotland" made me laugh out loud! 🤣
bro isn’t Adam British lol
The ones with Drew and the Lesnar tractor ones are the standout ones for me. Shoutout to Owens (Royal Rumble 2021), WM37 and the Jey Uso series as well
Pretty underrated was that banger he had with Riddle on a random episode of SmackDown. Riddle was also white hot back then.
That Olson bit is excellent
Who's here after WrestleMania 40?
I am
Rollins at the Royal Rumble was also incredible for the story telling imo
You mean Seth vs Roman at Royal Rumble 2022? Roman took a leave from Day 1 due to illness.
@@47ness5 Yeah, got them mixed up lol
0:50 the answer is he had 3 months to rehearse that one match while being trained by HBK according to John Morrison. Imagine if any other WWE star was given 3 months to practice for one match, while receiving 3 months of coaching directly from Shawn Michaels. Nia Jax would even look like a special talent with that sort of treatment
Roman vs Sami is probably my favorite out of all the defenses. Brock/Roman at summerslam 2022 and Roman/Owens at Runble 2021 were awesome too.
So privileged to be there at Clash at the Castle. Awesome PPV with an amazing finish
Roman vs Cody is number one for me. the title has never been in that much jeopardy and the crowd were absolutely on board. add to that the incredible match and it was something special.
Soon as solo got ejected my whole living room knew lol. Such a L match
That match against bryan and edge is so underated
over*

I'm with you in this one. Universal Title match at Fastlane was a banger. Masterfully told the story. Entertaining from bell to bell.
THANK YOU, TRIPS!!!
That was a hella fun 9 months. We'll miss you.
I actually really loved the match with edge at money in the bank. Not alot of people talk about it and I think it’s awesome 😊
Thank you for the positive energy. We really needed it.
and yet there is so many honorable mentions, his match with Riddle on smackdown, his match with Bryan at Fastlane is very underrated, his match with Edge at MITB, the one with Rollins at Rumble was really good until the finish

Haven’t even watched the video yet but the Cesaro Backlash match is too low unless it’s in the top 3. So underrated
I'm honestly shocked at the optimism about Cody beating Roman eventually. Honestly, I'm not sure. And I still don't think it will matter just the same. I also really liked that match; I think it was Cena’s last great match in WWE
One of the only times the thunderdone was used to its advantage. Roman vs jey I agree was his best reign and told story as champion
Summerslam 2022 being the Elizabeth Olsen of Roman/Brock matches is the perfect analogy I didn’t know I needed.
I'm so glad you put the Jey Uso matches at the top - those two matches were phenomenal. Two of my favourite matches of 2020.
Roman finally came into his own and it’s great
I still think Manias ending was the right call. Codys run to the top was too easy and Solo costing Cody is chefs kiss after all the trashtalk cody tried
Sets up something for Solo for when he goes solo too, considering Cody said he's not ready or something like that so Solo went and cost him the titles
I think alot of people who consider his road to Mania too easy are focusing too much on just the Roman stuff. Finishing the story wasn't just about the story that began when he won the Rumble in January, it was about the journey he'd be on since his release in 2016. Too easy? he wrestled a Hell in a Cell match with a purple tiddy!
Glorious!
1:34 to skip Logan Paul
After Cody vs Roman I think a good list would be Best Matches with Bad Finishes.
Crazy to think that the Tribal Chief has some great matches to his name now after he was one of the most hated champions in wrestling history for a while!
God, I wish I knew Adam’s take on WM40.
This run has been full of classics
Demon Finn balor vs Roman is so slept on
His last man standing match with KO was fantastic and, probably deserves to be a little higher on the list, IMO. And, his match with Daniel Bryan on that episode of Smackdown was almost perfect, like the Jey Uso match. Bryan elevates anyone he works with and, made Roman look like a killer. The fact that he put Logan and Sami Zayn’s match but not John Cena’s match at Summerslam is baffling. John Cena and Daniel Bryan were most likely the only 2 people that I saw dethroning Roman. What are u talking about
And if so why did they have him win the rumble if they weren't gonna have him win
THIS LIST is IT! Every Match was the right spot
It surprised me too but having seen how happy WM was making me up to that point, I should've saw it coming. I guess they're really wanting to see him hit a thousand days as champion. All things considered, we really should have known they'd go for that.

I feel like one of his matches with AJ Styles in 2016 should have been included. I know that his current reign is prolific, but he did have some good title defences back in the Big Dog days.
My favorite match out of this title reign was the summer slam match between Roman vs Cena.
Please continue doing these videos in 50/60 fps ,🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🏼
"I DON'T JUST FEED MY KIDS WITH THIS TITLE!" - Roman Reigns promo leading up to Jey Uso vs Roman at Clash of Champions.
I just love Roman vs Brock SS 2022 so much, it’s a hell of a lot of fun
I believe KO and Reigns also had a smackdown title match in a steel cage that I personally thought was the best of the 4
My top 10:
1- WM37 triple threat
2- Roman vs drew McIntyre (CATC)
3- Roman vs brock lesnar (summerslam 2022)
4- Roman vs Cody Rhodes (WM39)
5- Roman vs Sami zayn (EC)
6- Roman vs KO (RR 2021)
7- Roman vs Jey Uso (HIAC)
8- Roman vs Logan Paul (Crown jewel)
9- Roman vs Cesaro
10- Roman vs Daniel Bryan
« McIntyre in his hometown of Wales, Scotland » is a hugely underrated joke, congrats!
Roman vs Cody and Roman vs Drew are my favourites🔥☝️
So good 🎉
I had forgotten about the other KO match. I always just think of the Rumble Last Man Standing match, that he technically should have won, when the ref stopped counting, when Heyman couldn't get the handcuffs unlocked.

Fun Fact: Cesaro was actually undefeated from October 2020 until his match wis Roman.
Roman vs Rollins at SummerSlam is being slept on here. The mind games Seth played alone should've gotten it on the list
*Royal Rumble you mean
@@pabloxkai2185 Yes, thank you!
@@FrostMeiser welcome and I fully agree btw. It's very underrated and great storytelling

Roman is one of the best champion of all time ☝️
i have to watch this out of morbid curiosity cuz i remember 0 good roman matches. -upon reflection i did enjoy tractor brock.
That jab at Vince at the end makes no sense. He was literally head of creative when the jey feud happened so to say we won't get stuff like that now that he's back is hilarious 😂
Sundays with Adam are the BEST
Roman vs Drew made me legit think Reigns was gonna lose. I was so mad when the ref almost counted to 3, only for Solo to appear, Still, a very great match
He was right.
Even the people who are sick of him are gonna miss Roman when he’s gone.
Adam keeps saying Roman's theme sounds like Sephiroth, but ironically, it sounds like Geno's from Mario RPG
Feel Roman reigns has been burying people for years
You know what if they can make Cody's story of chasing the title mean something and build off his loss at Mania then great make Cody look strong in defeat and show why he needs to be the guy to beat Roman, I just hope that they dont drop the ball with this because it has the promise of being a great story
Adam has a odd sounding flow while giving this list. Like he is super mellow
Notice how all of these except like 1 boil down to "great match and then the ending happened"
THIS is why more and more people are sick of Roman.
Wrestling fans get sick of everyone and everything.
Drew v Roman or Jey v Roman HIAC has to be my favourite, both had PERFECT endings.
His rivalry with jey is still probably my favourite. Alongside with (Kevin owen, Edge and daniel bryan,Drew and brock) the build up and story leading to that very moment was spectacular.
I like how Adam says the summerslam match between Roman & Brock is The Elizabeth Olsen of the rivalry.
I appreciated the Salieri joke.
We need a top 10 Intercontinental Champions ever
I wish there was a way they could revisit the hey uso feud.
WrestleMania 40 : Cody Rhodes defeats Roman Reigns
Either Sammy or Cody. I so badly wanted Cody to win, I thought it was the time, but as you say let's not let a disappointing 15 seconds mar greatness. I have a special place for him Vs Seth at rumble 22 - it's a ppv I was invited to watch with my friends that made me sit up and go, 'oh this wrestling things actually pretty neat'
“Slightly less human Homelander”. Applause.
