I grew these in my old urban nursery. They are in such high demand someone can make a living only growing this plant. I got started growing mine after I put in a perimeter hedge on my property. To save money I grew my own from cuttings and realized I developed a skill that can make big money.

@@paulstewart323 Hey good question, it could be that the roots are still dormant. Are you using bottom heating?

I had better results taking cuttings from july 15 to sept 15 in zone 7 NC. I also cut away 66% of the green foliage. If your way works for you keep doing it your way. I just wanted to share that other methods have worked great for me.

would like to see updates. I live in Zone-5 PA. Winter is usually December-ish. After the 1st month and re-potting when is it safe to plant outside? Doesn't sound plausable for ME to try this in January?

    • @daniellesjoy

Usually the fall and spring are the best time to plant

  • @dukefuller1171

So one should never dip a cut into the container of rooting solution . You have just contaminated the rooting hormone with whatever pathogen the cut may have had. I use a shot glass so the extra contaminated rooting solution can be discarded

Really up to you what type of tree you use for a Christmas tree but the Green Giant is mostly used for privacy landscaping

I would try taking clippings from the best looking trees that are healthy so that you have their same genes in the cuttings
