  • Simple diy project that requires minimal tooling, woodworking skills and was made using one pallet. It was a decent pallet though with some nice wide boards made with a tight grained timber.
I saw a great design on the pallet group by Rob M and wanted to make one similar to house some plants in the house, initially it was outside but it now lives on the landing indoors. / palletprojects
No plans at all, just a vague idea of make 3 boxes, attach them with legs and hopefully it will all sit square. Its really useful to have set squares and offcuts of plywood to start with and to lay your wood on the plywood. The sizes of boxes are entirely down to you. Ice cream shops have huge amounts of plastic trays going to waste and these are good reuse as plant pots. The boxes are a little bit wider but they're serving their purpose.
With the timber being tight grained the holes were piloted and then screwed down, it helps as you can bury the head a good few mm into the wood and then fill afterwards to hide them. Some glue and sawdust mixed together makes a decent enough filler and dries so that you can sand it flat.
Once youve got your 3 boxes made lay them on your plywood and start laying out the 2x1 for the legs and supports. Draw them on the plywood with pencil. Now either get all technical and start working out angles or just use a
a bevel square to copy the angles so you can then transfer them over to your chop saw or to mark the wood if using a handsaw. You can also judge a lot of cuts by eye looking straight down and using a ruler and pencil to draw your cut lines.
Routered out some simple flowers using a trim router and cnc bits, then burnt them with the chefs blowtorch.
Finished with a couple of coats of Osmo Poly X hardwax oil in clear satin, brushed on then the excess taken off with cheap washing up sponges.
Apologies to all of you for not getting more stuff out, me and Mr. Butters have been hiding/hermitting a lot in the workshop.

@@thepoultrypeople Well, we just adopted some pygmy and pygoran goats. So I just finished a manger and some small projects with the scraps (A pair of headphone stands and clipboard holders--they hold clipboards upright for so you can view documents while typing at the computer). Next is a stand for the goats that will help me keep them in place while shearing and trimming hooves. Your videos just seem to remind me that I have no excuses...just get up and do something with the resources I have. Thanks for that.

@@Angyrr and Bongo, yes encouragement with a stick is what I need sometimes, but then I recall that if you are going to be a kind person to anyone, you should first be kind to yourself.
If you can take another cat story from me: the few times my cat insistently asks me for something and I'm peeved by the request (he might me picking the window screen while I'm 'busy' couch surfing) I say to him "I'm going to beat you with a blade of grass as big around as a fleas thigh" he doesn't stop. But when beating on yourself never use something so substantial.

"Me and Mr. Butters have been hiding/hermitting a lot in the workshop" Bongo, well at least you and Mr. Butters are outperforming 99.9% of the politicians on this earth and that residual is surely up to no good anyways. You two: pure (or close to it) and happy thoughts, as you contemplate future projects and Mr. Butters keeps his eyes on the wolves in from the margins (01:06).
A question about the box planting were the cacti in the lowest box chosen to keep vermin out? and I take it went indoors during the deluge like your neighbours clothes drying. Always like some "bonus footage at the end".
