Thanks for covering all these keyboards, its very hard to figure out which one to buy without trying them out in person
the wooting 60 is the best option imo. (as there are alot of custom cases for it - if you're that deep into the keyboard rabbithole )
I've heard that the wooting team are a small dedicated team. Why not just go with them if they are the original while also supporting them? Honest question
Don't bother thinking, just get the wooting, it is just superior
60HE is basically perfect and still outperforms all alternatives + 80HE is on it's way. No need for alternatives imo

Mind boggling how you seem to be the only channel that consistently puts out such high quality, yet seemingly simple videos. The latency tests are always welcome.
I have a conspiracy theory that other tech channels won't cover topics like these without money paid to them.
Explain pls bro
I believe it too
Optimum, I've been watching your channel for 3-4 years now, and I have to say, I absolutely love the ingenuity and creativity you bring to the table to really test all of these products. Definitely my go to channel for tech. This video, along with your "fixed PC cooling" vid really show off your ability engineer things, which, as someone studying engineering and hoping to be able to do freelance stuff like that, I find super intriguing. The main reason i love my 60HE+ is the mod tap feature. It's amazing and the reason i can manage with a 60% layout.
What's that?

@@Matt_132 I have and i dont like it. (Edit: Quick google. I didn't know mod tap was possible in via/qmk. TIL. I still prefer Wooting for simplicity tho.)
@@Matt_132there is not a single keyboard that uses VIA that also offers what the wooting does. As someone who has three custom builds and a wooting, I only use my customs to type on.
For most people, buying a wooting is a better use of their money than using a full custom using VIA.

Nice video! 👍🏻 I also really liked your two reviews of the Wooting 60HE, I just ordered mine and the estimated delivery is in 'early May'. I can't wait! :D
Surprised you haven't tested the drunkdeer a75 or g65 yet. Hearing it's pretty good for the price but I'd like to see some real testing on it.
i heard that wooting is more precise but some people like the feel of drunkdeer more especially on osu
@dotdotdot8987 ya seems nothing beats the wooting but would be nice to see how it compares in some real testing since it's a decent amount cheaper.
@@dotdotdot8987I would bet that it feels better.
Lighter springs and nicer sounding switches
The polar 65 too from arbiter studios
@@dotdotdot8987 Recently drunkdeer also had a firmware update making them even closer in rapid trigger/actuation point to wooting, leaving most of the decision to be up to the user's sound/feel preference, and from the testing I've watched, drunkdeer sounds better imo, although wooting is built better. However, Drunkdeer also has aluminum cases on their website, leaving me to believe after a bit of tinkering it might be a better and still cheaper option than the wooting.
As always the most trustworthy youtuber when i comes to atually testing gaming gear performane. As multiple people already said, if it is possible try to test the Boog75 as well.
Heard it sounds very good out of the box but haven't seen anyone testing the functionality as well as you do.
I just got my Boog75. I can't help with any comparisons regarding performance, but I can tell you typing on this board is beyond comparison to the Wooting. It is in another class entirely. The thocc, the smoothness, stabilizers, quiet-but-not-too-silent sound. I'm in love.
Optimum always pumping out great quality videos!
Man, the testing methodology you employ is top notch, as is everything else about your videos.
The latency calculator, specifically, is awesome, and I would love to see this expanded to showcase the latency of a number of wired and wireless keyboards to see how the stack up against one another, and to see how much latency there is for the different types of wireless and how it compares to wired.
Brands that cater more towards custom keyboards than gaming are now also releasing Hall Effect/Rapid Trigger keyboards (e.g. Keychron Q1 HE and Meletrix BOOG 75 which are coming out soon, and the Akko Mod 007B HE and Monsgeek M1 HE which are already out).
It would be awesome if you could cover some of these HE/RT boards targeting the custom market. I'd love to know if they're the best of both worlds, or if they are going to fall short in gaming performance.
It would be great if he were to review the akko mod 007b he, I can’t wait for my keychron q1he to arrive
@@JustDewItRAR is the keychron one in aluminium case?
Why review them? None of these brands offer better actuation or latency results so they will always be behind the Wooting.
Because some people also care about the feel, sound, and look of the keyboard in addition to the function and performance. If there is an offering that is on par with (or at least close to) the wooting in performance but has an improved stock sound and feel, that would be the ideal choice for a good amount of people. I totally understand if you just care about the board getting the job done, but other that's not everybody.@@tyl3rb-fw6ee

I'm in their discord server and one of the egg staff said they're working on a firmware to address the latency upon key release, so if they manage to do that this will be an s tier keyboard
Do you know if they managed to address the latency upon key release?
Any updates homie?
There is a beta firmware which fixes the latency issues. Still waiting on a fixed actuation point though which they say is on the way - they need to clear sole legal hurdles first.
I have this keyboard now and i’m really impressed.
Still waiting for DrunkDeer A75, loving mine so far
Hows the delay is it good?
I love how he really goes in depth along with making his edits clean
Thank you very much this confirmed my experience with the KB65He, it felt off and i returned it, staying with my wooting 60he
You should test the Boog75 aswell, pretty expensive but insane custom keyboard
Considering the quality it is very reasonable. It stomps on everything quality wise. Example the Wooting you could use out of the box but if you mod it to try and get it halfway decent you will spend more than the boog75 out of the box and the quality still won’t be as good.
BOOG75 goes crazy. Really want one, too bad the shipping is fucking insane to canada
@@gregm1855 im not sure about that. If you just get the module and mod it, the quality on the wooting will be better. But it will cost more probably a lot more. If you just want to get a pre built, and not hassle with modding seems like boog75 quality is better. But performance wise, I havent see anyone check the latency like optimum tech has on the other clones. But also boog75 is a 75% keyboard and the module is 60% so that will be a factor in your decision. The 80he is coming soon, but if the out of the box quality is not good it will be a lot harder to mod.
@@dankeykang2981 Meletrix is custom level quality. Just because they offer a pre built that doesn’t mean it is lesser quality. I am not saying the Wooting is bad but I have owned the regular He and the new HE+ built with jades and Tofu redux. I have a Meletrix Zoom75 and can speak to the quality of both. Meletrix is better quality period. As far as the numbers go I presume Wooting will and should better. By how much ? Hard to say. Would it be anything noticeable? Again hard to say. So I will reserve judgment on that but I trust Meletrix not to have crazy latency issues.
I'm surprised you haven't checked out the Corsair implementation yet. However it is a full sized board not a 60 or 65% board so that may be the case. Either way great video man glad we are getting more competition on the marketplace. Hopefully they will only get better over time.
I'm loving my Wooting two HE and I'm happy that other companies are starting to try and replicate that magic as well
Hell ya.. Keeping it real with the viewers. Love that. Keep up the good work!
Keychron also have a hall-effect keyboard coming out at some point and the marketing implies the performance equals that of the 60HE.
Kickstarter orders start shipping out next month. Their store also sells two additional HE switches (one lighter, one heavier than the default). Also the big selling point for some is Wireless and browser software for HE settings.
Was waiting for your or hausgaming's review.
Latency is all that matters to me honestly, everything else I can mod to my liking if I chose to.
By now you are clearly in the top3 best tech channels in yt!!!
is there any other RUclipsr who is a bigger nerd than this guy? I don't see anyone else doing these kinds of tests, just amazing content.
I got the wooting as soon as the ARM version dropped, I love that keyboard! feels like it will live forever, the GMMK pro on my workstation in the meantime had 3 switches go bad.
You can never be too certain with switches. I got spares when I bought it mine so I didn't have to deal with the headache if it happens.
@@LongJohnnn yes, me too, but that is a promising result for the wooting, never double-typed a letter ever
Please tell me your your forearm workout I have been asking for this for ages
Dude, just go climbing or bouldering.
just search up "Akimbo forearm workout" if you want thick, strong & veiny forearms (Sam Sulek's forearm workout also works well for thickness and veiny look but if you want ultimate forearm STRENGTH then Akimbo's is better)

@@Fingerboardmaster200 OKay people should not listen to your advice lol
or some swear on the rice bucket method, but I have never tried
Would love to see you test the Monsgeek M1 HE 75% board or any 75% HE board at this point
This does look like a really solid board. Hopefully they can tighten up the rapid trigger functionality and latency via software updates in the future as I could see myself picking it up if they do.
Excellent video yet again. This is exactly what we live for the test results we all deserve. (Moving actuation point is a deal breaker) Apparently nothing can top wooting at this point
The PCB for this is based off a Chinese OEM keyboard named the VXE ATK68 - I believe they're also the factory that makes the Polar 65 for Arbiter Studio. They also make the VXE ATK75, although I don't have too much information on that one (still waiting for mine to come in). Just in case you're looking for an even cheaper copy of this keyboard.

@@AuDiGo6 Yup, those guys!
I love my ATK68 its so good man.
In fact the atk and the polar 65 are so good for the price and feel like modded keyboard
I'm one of the happy owners of the Wooting 60 HE and I'm still glad that I didn't get an other keyboard. I do play various games where also the Rapid Trigger functionality is really good. Ready or Not is one of that games, where it's easy to strafe and peek around a corner and sometimes lift the key or just press it to see it advantages. And, yeah it's funny to see al those lookalike keyboards popping up like mushrooms in a forest.
Couldn't wooting patent it? Zzzzzz
@@tehjamerz Seems like they can't and it's better that way.
@@tehjamerz From what i've seen the team is really full of people who like the competition and actually are ok with their technology pushing the keyboard market forward. What's also funny is that a company is yet to still come to match the wooting itself and they get recognition because everyone literally just calls them wooting clones.
Im really happy to see competitors with the Wooting, cuz they offer improvements that Wooting 60 dont have, for example the aluminium case, Wooting still gives plastic case as default, if u want the metalic Alumaze case u'll have to buy again and it costs like another 100+, same with the improved switches. But what these competitors lack are optimization, both hardware (latency) and software, and its a pain to see cuz they literally have better hardware, but it also shows how amazing the Wooting is!
You dont have to buy the Wooting 60HE with the plastic case anymore fyi
@@filur108 but isn't the price way more tho
@@fleepity i mean you're now arguing value in form over value in function. I'd rather buy the Wooting and get a better overall package with a slightly inferior case w/e and spend extra on a replacement option. As opposed to paying less money for an inferior product with better build quality.... after all that is the point of a keyboard; it's a tool and it needs to perform as such. I could give a shit less about build quality.

I swear that watching optimum talking about Wooting makes me like the company even more. He does his videos so well that this is basically the only channel that sucks me into the screen.
Always looking forward to your reviews. Guess as of now wooting is still the best rapid trigger keyboard. I wonder if you could test the Realforce GX1, which is a Topre keyboard and apparently also have the function of rapid trigger as well.
I'm pretty sure this and the polar65 and the VGN atk68 have the same pcb OEM (Purely guessing by the screw location and the 4 switch above the right arrow key btw). So if anyone is interested in this keyboard, but it's not available in your region you might wanna look at those 2.
would a software update fix the latency problems ? gutted if no as i ordered one before i seen the footage
Did you end up buying it? How is it? I heard on their discord there should be a download for the newest software with latency mode
I would love to see how the new Huntsman V3 Pro stacks up to the plethora of Wooting clones we’ve already been seeing on the rise. I know he’s already reviewed the Huntsman Mini analog but with the release of the “Gen 2 Analog optical switches” in the newer V3 Pro line, Im crazy curious to see what changes were actually done
all problems that appeared on gen 1 were solved, it is on par with the wooting, other then the software.
I have it and the only thing I don’t love about it is how loud it is 🤣 overall it’s a solid keyboard
I had the mini one. The software is dogshit compared to Wooting. Many things you cannot change and sometimes you have to reset the entire software and keyboard, or it will just crash on load. And even worse, the RT was buggy. Every 5 minutes, a movement key that was fully pressed was not detected at all, making my character full stop. Then, I had to fully release the trigger before it would work again. Maybe it was just a problem with my copy, buy yeah...
Sounds like just you man, the software is not the cleanest, but it gets the job done. I know that the keyboard had issues on release and lots of firmware updates have released to combat that. Sounds like you had a bad keyboard though. Been using the V3 pro with 0.1mm and rapid trigger on 0.1mm with no issues for around 4 months.@@Ch4nKyy

The Akko and Monsgeek magnetic boards have mid software but are definitely superior in terms of build quality and feel since they're gasket mounted.
Akko and monsgeek have rapid trigger kbs? Didn't know that
WYSI
i wonder if it was intentional
I'd love to hear your thoughts and comparisons to the Akko MOD 007B which also uses hall effect sensors. These types of boards are popping up everywhere and so far it seem that nothing is quite as good as the original. Great video as always. Looking forward to more in this space!
I really love watching your videos. But I will definitely be sticking with my wooting keyboard!
Very confused with the popularity of 60% format. The lack of arrows is confusing in tasks except gaming.
So you like this then as it has arrows?
Maybe that’s because people buy this type of keyboard for gaming ONLY? 😂
I personally got used to it with my 60HE and I can always remap the keys if I need to (altough I couldn't get it to work yet rip) and the extra room for the mouse is nice. I understand wanting those function and arrow keys tho, that's why Wooting is preparing to release an 80% soon
You can survive on a 60 with a slight modification of your muscle memory. Simply make right shift and the 3 mod keys underneath into the arrowkeys, and then customize the enter key to actuate enter when tapped but act as right shift when held.
Its actually incredibly easy to get used to using enter as shift.
Thats not the only way to make a 60percent work either. If you can’t get used to that you can create a layer key that turns esdf into arrow keys, this is actually more efficient for work purposes because you don’t have to take your hands off the homerow to use the arrows. Then you just have to decide where its best to put the layer key, a lot of people don’t use capslock, so that may be a good place. Some people move their ctrl to caps so maybe where ctrl used to be can be your layer key.
Even if you use capslock you can still use it pretty easily if on the second layer you make the tab key act as capslock. This opens up lots of things on the second layer, you can make the numbers turn to function keys, backspace turn to delete. Its all incredibly logical and easy to get used to.
i have pretty much every size keyboard but why do people act like if a key isnt there its nonexistent, most people just rebind keys to the second layer and it takes the exact same amount of time as pressing one key if anything can be even more convenient for certain ones bc you can do everything from your left hand quicker than moving to the other side of the kb or letting go of mouse and using right hand, like binding arrows to wasd or f1-12 as the number row etc bc my fkl tkl(pluto) looks so much cleaner than my reg tkl
Nah... you gotta stop calling these clones man...
would love to see ya review the BOOG75!
With low profile switches you sort of get some of this benefit since the travel and actuation is less than full size switches. Not the granularity as these new keyboards but still something.
You will never know how i got this many likes 😂
What about dislikes?
You better do it

Hey Optimum, great video! These wooting clone videos are super informative at showing the alternatives to Wooting, which I appreciate as not every country can afford the Wooting after shipping/import/currency conversion fees, in my case it would have been $340 CAD. Would you mind reviewing the DrunkDeer A75?

Its the same board as this one, im pretty sure. I also experience the same deadzone thing that optimum explained here with the Polar.. still pretty good though
A few years down the line this would probably become standard and be done pretty well across the board(s).

I was actually kind of surprised with your closing thoughts. I guess it's true that there are no bad products just bad prices.
I have to say I tried the steelseries and not only did it glitch out but also my posts about it were deleted from the steelseries reddit. Also the software opens a huge page of ads every time and it's required.

Wooting does lube the switches, maybe they didn't in the past but they do now or at least got a lot better at it. Got mine in the mail today it's been an amazing experience.
I haven't seen a single larger sized content creator test out the Drunkdeer G65 or A75 yet, both almost half the cost of the wooting while being between wooting and steelseries in terms of rapid trigger speed.

The higround performance had some kind of firmware update and I’m hoping it fixed some of the issues it had. For now I’m happy with it and my wooting but I’m curious to see how the BOOG75 will compare
Wooting still king, especially after modding it a bit. Sure the switches could be a bit better but the performance easily makes up for it. Also I didn't buy the keyboard for typing a lot, it's mostly for gaming which it still excels at.
Okay but Endgame makes great products. Been using the XM1r for about a year and a half now and it's honestly my favorite mouse ever
This shows how much effort Wooting has put into the 60HE, otherwise the magnetic keyboards from AliBaba would not be far off from the 60HE.
Also, Wooting announced a new keyboard coming relatively soon, hope you'll check that one out as well.
which is very impressive considering Wooting is not like a giant company or anything big
I wonder if the keycron he keyboard is using the same PCB layout? Great review like always wooting is still the king

Will you check out the arbiter polar65 or are you for some reason restricted to only checking out products from properly known and established brands?
