I have operated draglines for 40 years in New Zealand and operated Priestman & RB Draglines in our family business When the Huntly Power. Station project began I considered purchasing a KH 125 but for reasons that I have now forgotten it never happened. Are there many draglines still operating in the Netherlands? I am married to a Dutch Woman so have a special interest in Holland. Best regards, Clinton (Kiwi Clint) Webb

For the small Netherlands, quite a few different machines have been preserved and are in the hands of private or company owners. This is partly because the Higro association or the historical earthmoving association arranges a location several times a year where all this comes together for a weekend of playing in the sand :)

I was surprised that the rig being an Hitachi, was a friction rig or at least set up like one. I might be able to hit the ground with the bucket like that. I've seen some of your videos with maybe a 22-B set up with the hoist and drag on the same lever, air operated of course and could only try to imagine how a full hydraulic rig would be on wobble sticks. A free swing would help, like a Liebherr hoe has. That IS a nice machine. A pleasure to run compared to some. Thanks and GBWYou!

The company has owned 3 of these draglines. The one in the video with long original hitachi levers the other 2 also seen on this youtube channel have short levers just like a modern hydraulic crane. These machines where fully hydraulically driven. I recently became co-owner of the 22 rb super with dual function on a control lever that you mentioned. There will be some images online soon of this machine and the restoration process.

@@cc_machinery I know it can be done with hydraulics and it'd sure take some getting used to, for me anyway. Hydraulics are amazing and now even more so as the electric over hydraulic gets finer and finer tuned. I had the chance to play with a 250 ton P&H truck crane, lattice boom. There were 2 rented and one developed a problem so a certified P&H man came and fixed the one and tuned up the other. It was a sweet rig before but after the tuning you could crack an egg with 20 or 30 tons. The feel and control was amazing! And congratulations on the 22RB. I ran 22B's a lot and they are a fine machine. Keep me posted on the restoration, please. GBWYou!
