Love you from my beloved country, Bangladesh that you showed in this vedio is really mesmerising learnt much more That I never got learnt.....in my life
Really enjoying this series of videos, and love the stuff you guys put out in general, so thanks! Quick question: would you guys still endorse the 'PPF' method for part 2? I first saw it on your website years ago, and know that lots of other IELTS instructors recommend it too, but I notice you didn't mention it in this video.
Hi there, we still advise our students to expand their given topic and organize it with PPF (past, present, and future tenses). If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
But if am not wrong, since i have watched all of the videos on this channel, you mentioned in one of your video lecture that this trick ( PPF) is extremely bad and try to avoid it
@@DivyaSharma-is8qq Yeah. I watched that video after they wrote the above reply. Some fairly mixed messaging going on. They imply it's bad, say it leads to 'unnatural' responses, and don't contradict student commenters when they say it's bad, yet they say they teach it. After reading a lil' bit I think it's fairly clear that IELTS Advantage think it can be useful in some cases, but not all. I think some clarification on the matter would be good though. FWIW, in that video he doesn't say that explicitly say that it's extremely bad, but does imply that it's not good. Specifically he describes it as "a trick strategy which they think will trick the examiner into giving them a higher score". He also says that he used to teach it at the British Council as a way to "help students fill out their answer if they couldn't speak about some of the bullet-points". (I believe the emphasis is on *if*) He goes on to say that these days a lot of RUclips channels claim that "if you do the PPF then it's really easy, you can trick the examiner" but says that the problem is, you get cue cards where it's really difficult to use. As mentioned above, there's also some interesting RUclips comments from students and some interesting replies. This one stood out to me: "Commenter: I did follow PPF and managed to get an 8 in speaking. 🤷🏻♂ IELTS Advantage: Well done. An 8 is amazing. You didn’t get a Band 8 because you used PPF. You got a Band 8 because your pronunciation, fluency, coherence, grammar and vocabulary were at a Band 8. You could have got a higher score if you spoke more naturally during Part 2, but then again the question might have suited PPF and it helped you." So yeah, I think from the above, they're saying that the PPF can be useful in some cases, but not all.

Hello Chris, thank you for this video. But I am a little conflicted. I attended one of British council webinars last week and the examiner mentioned that in part 1 an extended speech of 2-3 sentences is enough and she mentioned that it's safer to follow the bullet points in part two in order to have a well structured speech and what you told us in this video is like opposite of what she said. What do you advise I do, please? Thank you.
Hi there, please have a look at this article from our website 'IELTS Speaking Part 2 Tips' which covers talking about every bullet points. If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
Thank goodness i don't have to follow the bullet. Im having a hard time every time i have to check what the next bullet is. I've noticed that the answers for it naturally comes out if you expand your answers anyway.

(I believe the emphasis is on *if*)
He goes on to say that these days a lot of RUclips channels claim that "if you do the PPF then it's really easy, you can trick the examiner" but says that the problem is, you get cue cards where it's really difficult to use.
As mentioned above, there's also some interesting RUclips comments from students and some interesting replies. This one stood out to me:
"Commenter:
I did follow PPF and managed to get an 8 in speaking. 🤷🏻♂
IELTS Advantage:
Well done. An 8 is amazing.
You didn’t get a Band 8 because you used PPF. You got a Band 8 because your pronunciation, fluency, coherence, grammar and vocabulary were at a Band 8.
You could have got a higher score if you spoke more naturally during Part 2, but then again the question might have suited PPF and it helped you."
So yeah, I think from the above, they're saying that the PPF can be useful in some cases, but not all.
I got 6.5 from ielts and looking to retake it on December 4 :/
good luck
@@me-gk3nq thank you!

Thank goodness i don't have to follow the bullet. Im having a hard time every time i have to check what the next bullet is. I've noticed that the answers for it naturally comes out if you expand your answers anyway.
